Hi, i have had niggily cramps for the last couple of weeks which i know is normal, but today lasting about 2 hours i have had very severe cramps, enough to make me get upset by the pain and unable to stand up,also have felt very faint and shaky i have had no bleeding but feel so worried

I rang my G.P and he said to leave it 24hrs and then ring him back.I am going out of my mind and dont know what to do

Anyone any experience or advice?

Could it be a miscarriage/ectopic?

Ring back your GP Pucca and tell them your coming.

How stupid to be told to wait for 24hrs

Hope your ok.

SackAche · 19/12/2005 15:33

Pucca - It could be a UTI! They are very pianful and irritate the uterus too.

I 2nd the advice to phone the GP back... or NHS24.

pucca · 19/12/2005 15:33

NBG...my head is battered even rang NHS direct but was told to phone my GP, he said there is nothing he can do...thats it and to phone back in 24hrs

have you been referred to a midwife? you could phone her and she could talk to the gp on your behalf

melrose · 19/12/2005 15:34

Could you call the maternity unit or MW?

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 19/12/2005 15:35

Just ring them back now and say you are not happy in waiting, you are in pain and you are very worried.

Do it now.

pucca · 19/12/2005 15:35

I havent seen the midwife yet, and havent got the number...my GP receptionist is a utter bitch so cant phone and ask them for it

where i am you called the hospital where you were probably going to have the baby and asked for the community mw

you could bypass the gps surgery

bossykate · 19/12/2005 15:36

go to your local epu (early pg unit). they should at least be wanting to rule out an ectopic. plus at 6 wks you can be scanned. don't wait just go. or go to a&e.

pucca · 19/12/2005 15:37

Is there anything they can do at this stage though? that what GP said...there is nothing that can be done anyway.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 19/12/2005 15:38

thats not the point pucca

do what kate says and go to a&e

bossykate · 19/12/2005 15:38

sorry, yes it could possibly be an m/c or ectopic - but there are other things it could possibly be, e.g. necrotising fibroids (i'm not a dr or anything medical btw, i've had this myself), which can be painful but ultimately harmless. the point is you won't know till you go to an epu, my guess is even a community m/w would be at sea.

Sleighmenere · 19/12/2005 15:39

Go to A&E or EPU asap. Do not worry about seeming silly!!!

bossykate · 19/12/2005 15:39

the gp is right there is nothing that could be done about an m/c - sorry - if this is what this is...

me too, i had terrible pains when about 10 weeks pg - i phoned the labour suite (didnt know who else to call!) and they were so nice - made me a cup of tea and bit toast and gave me into trouble cos i had waited til the end of my 12 hr shift at work to go and see them

i had a scan and a lie down and they told me everything was fine, no explanation could be found but i felt reassured. and baby was fine

northerner · 19/12/2005 15:44

Hi Pucca. I had this when very early pregnant with my ds. I was in so much pain it made me cry, I was so worried. Luckliy my GP was lovely and sent me to the hospital immediatley as he wanted to rule out an eptopic.

You must go back to your GP.

littlechristmaself · 19/12/2005 15:45

go to a&e, they should scan you, and ask for one

NewBethlehemGirlwithsparkles · 19/12/2005 15:47

Are you ringing them now?

pucca · 19/12/2005 15:56

Thanks everyone...i have rang GP back and he is going to arrange a scan, he is going to get back to me asap.

Thanks for all the advice and help.
