Hi Jimmi

I had a show a few days before then spent the evening that I went into labour with a monster burst of energy hanging curtains as if my life depended on it. My waters broke behind DS's head so, until the contractions started for proper at about 3am, I didn't really twig that I was in labour (as he was nearly a month early).

I didn't even bother waking DH up until I'd been in labour for a couple of hours; I really didn't need the hassle of him panicking until it was at the stage where I needed someone else to time the contractions and make the call to the MW. I will definitely use this approach again. If I can get the birth pool inflated and filling before I need to get him to help then it'll make my life much easier!

GeraldineAubergine · 27/08/2011 14:49

First sign for me was an obstetrician with absolutely huge hands saying 'right I'm just going to break your waters and see if we can get this started, it might twinge a bit' before putting size 9 (!!!!) gloves on. This was 14 days past my due date.

rollerbaby · 27/08/2011 17:00

First pregnancy my hindwaters broke ever so slightly at midnight (felt huge pressure and then like I'd wet myself a bit) and then contractions started every 10 minutes from then on. I was a week and a half late and had a show a few days earlier and a second sweep that day... My first stage was absolutely fine and fairly text book but then delivery bit a very intense and short 10 minutes and waters broke just before he came out.

I hope it is as straightforward this time around but would like to be a bit more on time!

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 27/08/2011 18:37

DD: My waters broke and I was suddenly overwhelmed by desperation to wask my hair
DS: I most urgently needed to drop everything I was doing log off MN in order to wash my hair

fuzzywuzzy · 27/08/2011 18:39

With DD1 I sharp pain in the small of my back as I stood up which nearly kncked me over. Then about an hour later as I lay down to go to sleep my water went.

With DD2, I just had majorly painful contractions.

Def sounds like onset of labour sarge :) Good Luck!! :)

banana87 · 28/08/2011 10:03

Woke up one morning to a bump that was hard as a rock, quite literally. Called MW who said I was in labour, didn't believe her! At 10pm that night I felt a gush, ran to the toilet and had wet underwear Blush. Had pink on wiping so went to hospital. I was 3cm and had DD at 7 the next morning!

del1 · 28/08/2011 10:44

I'm probably just panicking, and I should know by now - being number 3.
But since my last post - yesterday? I have had really 'eggy' burps all night with heartburn.
I don't even get heart burn!!
I have been sick, and not got off the loo all night ( bad shits)
This was how I started a few days before DS1.
I thought my waters were going last night too, as when I sat on the loo, clear water trickled out now and then. But decided it must have been wee, as nothing since.
ive also felt a bit 'fluey' past few days. I've still got a week to go and not ready yet!!!
Hope its just a false start!! Confused

GeneralDisarray · 28/08/2011 11:25

Keep us updated Del1!

CappuccinoCarrie · 28/08/2011 12:06

I've read all 5 pages and I'm no closer to knowing whether or not I'm in early labour!
With both DD (3 days late) and DS (3 days early) I had several days of regular BH then woke up one morning and just 'knew'. The contractions gradually built over the course of a day, and when I went into hospital they told me both times to go home, and both times I refused and had had the baby within a couple of hours. My waters only went as I was delivering each of them.
I'm now 10 days overdue with DC3 and I've been having BH for over a fortnight. They've been every 10mins all morning and very slightly painful, but with no indication that they're going to increase either in frequency, length or pain. Wretched stop-start third labour! Def got the energy burst though, have been awake since 5am and cheerfully got up with the DCs for the first time in about 3 months Blush. Poor DH's lie-in was wrecked by DS doing an exploding poo so bad he needed a bath though, so his body is certainly doing a clear out!
del1 I'll race ya Wink

del1 · 28/08/2011 12:14

cappuccinocarrie you can win any day - I'm still in denial that were expecting another one! Shock
My cramps have eased off now, but still frequenting the loo for a rather nasty number 2 Blush
My mum came to the rescue an hour ago, and offered to take DS out for a few hours, and my DD is due a nap soon. So I'm gonna lie down, and see if it's just a false start!

Envy but also very happy for you sarge!
How is it even possible that I might end up with an induction for my third baby when I've had two on time before?!!

With DC1 I had PE (36+5) and was induced (pesserie) at 10pm, spent the night in and out of the bath with period pains and on and off of the loo etc. Waters were broken for me at 6am and DS arrived just after 8am!

DC2 PE kicked in again (36+6) and I was waiting to be induced when I felt like I had a sore tummy, but not contractions, I was 5cm upon examination and told to make my way to the labour ward where DD was born under 2hrs later with her waters still in tact!

I was sick through all contractions with both.

Due for a sweep on Wed (36+5) then induction next week if nothing to try and avoid PE again.

del1 · 28/08/2011 19:56

Well, I slept for 2 whole hours this afternoon, woke up, an all symptoms have gone!! Confused
Hope I can hang on for a week now x

CappuccinoCarrie · 28/08/2011 20:43

I had a baby at 4:05 this afternoon...sorry to those who are still waiting! It was the most painful, intense hour of my life but thankfully we made it to hospital and even into the pool before I really started pushing! DS2 is 9lb 5oz and very very cute Grin. We were allowed home after 3 hours and I've already enjoyed the most delicious fish and chips Grin
So it turns out my early labour signs are being prepared to get out of bed in the morning instead of snuggling down for 'just another few mins' and waking up several hours later!
I'm sure you others will have your babies soon :)
