the show was mine, like the beginning of AF, then my body purged itself, so lots of sitting ont he toilet and being sick.

My waters didnt break till just before she crowned and they fountained across the room just norrowly missing the midwife, she dodged just in time.

SongBirdsKeepSinging · 26/08/2011 19:40

Dd1(19 months ago) I had contractions and a show, she was 10 days over due and I was sat in the bath at 3am convinced I was having braxtons only went to hospital because dp knew I was in proper labour. Thank god he was there or I would have been giving birth in the bath haha.

Dd2(6weeks ago) she came a week early, had to be induced because I started bleeding heavily. Was very scary and fast but all worked out in the end even though she came out twisted and needed oxygen etc.

Good luck all you pregnant ladies! I have bump envy already!

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 26/08/2011 19:40

When the doctor said "we're going to induce you on Wednesday" (both times!)

I must have the Hilton of wombs, because my babies appear to not want to leave Grin

Greecelover · 26/08/2011 19:46

Low level period pain every 20 minutes, starting at 3am! None second time - planned c-sec.

del1 · 26/08/2011 19:59

DS1 - 40+3 . Had really bad shits over the weekend.
Then a slight trickle through the night, wasn't sure if i was just leaking wee, or had a sweaty fanny? Grin about 5 hrs later, started very mild contractions, which I slept through. Then they got to 2 mins apart, and he was born a few hours later.

DD1 - 40+2 . mild contractions through the night, which I slept off. Then as soon as I arrived at hospital, I started to push, and waters popped with first push - all over the place. she was born 10 minutes later!

Number 3 - currently 39 wks. I feel really uncomfortable this pregnancy, and any slight twinge or sign and i'm panicing! was breech untill last week, so worried about my quick labours, and if baby is still in the right positon!

TrinaLuciusMalfoy · 26/08/2011 20:01

Just contractions when I woke up, both times! With DD1, contractions started 10 mins apart at 6am, with DD2 they were 6 mins apart at 5.30am. Nothing else really, it was just a case of 'this is it!'

JumpJockey · 26/08/2011 20:08

DD1, a really bad night of heartburn followed by small bloody show and contractions about 10 mins apart (from 3 am)

DD2, was woken in the moddle op the night by a popping feeling like a mooncup twanging very powerfully, then waters started to trickle, this happened at about 11.30pm and was a month ahead of EDD so i rried to deny it, but it carried on and then some conntractions came so couldn't fool myself any more!

LifeOfKate · 26/08/2011 20:31

DC1 - Induced at 40+12. Had had a show when I'd had a sweep the week before though.
DC2 (5 days ago :o) - Was supposed to be induced the next morning at 40+12 again, but waters went at 8pm and she was born at 10.36pm :o

exciteddotcom · 26/08/2011 20:33

I read this with great interest... due in 12 days but have had diarrheoa and been throwing up all day, total lack of energy and lower back pain. Just had a bath.... got paranoid about lack of shaved legs and possibility of imminent labour... I am sure all vanity will soon disappear!!

Just one good night's sleep tonight please and i'll be ready for you tomorrow baby!!

CherryMummy · 26/08/2011 20:36

DD1 was low level period pains for a good few hours gradually ramping up to full blown contractions accompanied throughout the night by the shits and some pretty enthusiastic vomiting. Never got a show and waters were popped the next day.

DC2 was due on Sunday and I'm massively over-analysing every single twinge, poke, hiccough (this baby seems to have them all the time, poor little thing), and wondering when on earth it's going to make an appearance. Not helped by the call from hospital saying they have no community midwives available tonight for my planned home water-birth, so "keep your legs crossed until the morning". Uh..... Hmm

Good luck with #3 Jimmijams!

Unreasonablyfedup · 26/08/2011 20:41

Reading this am beginning to wonder if I am in early labour or just feeling a bit ill. I was induced last time, followed by emergency section - so not sure what to expect. Is crying uncontrollable for a couple of hours another sign??

MissBetsyTrotwood · 26/08/2011 20:48

DS1 - A cuppa and watching Sharon Osborne with my mum at about 5pmish. Then 'pop' - out shot the plug and waters everywhere. Got changed and went back to watching the telly afterwards - thought I may as well finish my tea as I had a long night ahead!

DS2 - Another cuppa and 'The Bill'. Was timing the contractions by the ad breaks. Between 8.30 and 8.45 thought I'd had quite a few so I knew it wouldn't be long!

I don't watch that much TV either. Maybe it was all the excitement that brought 'em on.

emmanumber3 · 26/08/2011 20:50

With all 3 of mine it was when the midwife/Dr broke my waters in the delivery room Sad.

I never actually got to "go into" labour as such. Damn BP!

QueenoftheVerse · 26/08/2011 20:54

Started off at about 6am with period type pains, then slowly progressed during the day. I arrived at the hospital at about 2.30pm and DS was born 2.30am.

warthog · 26/08/2011 20:55

might be total tosh but i sure did a lot of poo a couple of days beforehand. 3 x i remember thinking 'gosh, this is a lot of poo, there can't be any left.'

so i think it was a clear out.

then the contractions. those were a dead giveaway.

cupofteaplease · 26/08/2011 21:02

dd1- had a sweep, followed by a show at 4pm. Midnight, I rolled over in bed and my waters popped. I still didn't believe I was in labour, I just thought I needed a poo. Blush Popped a couple of paracetemol and hoped for the best. 13 hours later she was born via EMCS as undiagnosed breech.

dd2- ELCS, so no labour.

dd3- will also be ELCS in 6 weeks. I will miss the excitement of going into labour, but not the pain!

SouthernFriedTofu · 26/08/2011 21:12

Show a couple days early which I missed in the shower and DH found later Blush [boak]

then water broke night before it all kicked off

PANCHEY · 26/08/2011 21:13

DD1, took forever to get started, but I was analysing every single little twinge that I felt. I thought too much about it, and so felt even the very first little tiny twinge. The whole thing took 72 hours

DD2 this was much faster as i promised myself that I would just carry on for as long as possible and make sure that I ignored all the little feelings. This way, I woke up in the middle of the night, went to the bathroom had a show, put a pad on and went back to sleep (a really good sleep), then spent the day painting DD1's nails and going to the play park and had DD2 at 03.40. I really did not think that I was in labour for ages and got to the hospital at 6 - 7 cm dilated four hours later baby was born.

FloralOne · 26/08/2011 21:50

Another who had what started out as mild and infrequent period type pains that over the course of the day got gradually more frequent and much stronger. I was a week overdue and had had no signs/hints of going into labour before that.

TSC Better then than later on I suppose!

SurprisEs · 26/08/2011 22:16

Lots and lots of back pain!
My waters didn't break so I've since then wondered what it feels like. Lol

schroeder · 26/08/2011 22:25

How are you feeling now unreasonablyfedup?

Emmash · 26/08/2011 22:29

I really appreciate this - thank you! I am 37 weeks with number 3 but was induced with my first two so feel like I am a new mum in terms of going into labour and what to expect! Thanks again :)

normaleggy · 26/08/2011 22:37

DD - Waters broke at a football match, luckily just after the final whistle, would have been mightily pissed off if I'd have had to leave half way through match!

DS - Waters broke at 3 in morning just as DD had climbed into bed with me.
