wombat an enormous ((hug)) for you. Focus on the end result... a mini wombat! How exciting! xx

CollieandPup · 07/09/2011 10:46

wombat this is exciting!!! Agree with bigmac focus in the end result.... MiniWombat in your arms! Obv sorry your in hospital though, I hope you're ok?

freezing I too have had indigestion from around wk20.... Can't remember exactly. It eased for a couple of weeks after I started at the chiro....probably during my short lived 'bloom'! But it's back. I have gaviscon, but don't tae it as much as i should. did use it last night though and it worked a treat!!

bigmac are you me????? Sleepless nights, indegestion from 20wk, feeling sick.....no sex life Blush !! I've been feeling sick again too. Mainly at night. I was sick in the night on Monday night/Tuesday am too. DH and I think it's a combination if eating too much too late, and being exhausted. I can't believe how much I've lost my appetite this past week or so. Food is my number 1 hobby so I'm very sad about this, but the only reason I eat half the time now is because I know I have to for little pup.

Daisybell1 · 07/09/2011 11:02

Oh Wombat, I realise how scary it must be, but she'll soon be here for cuddles and snuggles

If it comes to it, there are lots of positive induction stories on here too Smile

harassedandherbug · 07/09/2011 11:24

Morning!

Dachs I'm so very pleased for you and dh. What fab news to see first thing Grin.

Wombat oh no!! I've been induced before, it's fine can just be a bit intense. Concentrate on the end result x

Ladies I have found the cure for sleeplessness and I'm sorry to tell you it's S. E. X.!! Had the best nights sleep in weeks last night.... Dh now thinks he's some kind of god . Plus my pelvis was relatively pain free and I didnt' wake up when turning over. Weird!!

I'm also suffering with indigestion and heartburn. Have an industrial sized bottle of Gaviscon from the doc that I lug around with me. Propping yourself up on another pillow or two really helps at night.

My sickness has never stopped!! Improved, but it's at least every other day and generally every day at the moment. Brushing my teeth is still an ordeal. I've never had it this long!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 07/09/2011 11:37

dachs really great news :)

wombat Scary but exciting! I have been induced before, it can be more intense but no reason why shouldn't be a positive experience. Good luck :)

heartburn here too ladies. I suck on the little tablets through the day and at bedtime I have about four spoons of the gloop it definitely helps me sleep.

harassed i wish sex helped me. we dtd the other day last week and my legs and pelvis were buggered for about two days. awful never again! Grin

AlbaDeTamble · 07/09/2011 13:31

Just popped in for a rare catch up and saw your news boodle!!
not sure whether to congratulate or commiserate, but wow! Very best of luck with everything. If it's meant to be, it will all work out, just keep chanting that Smile

PinkFondantFancy · 07/09/2011 14:41

Hi boodle lovely to meet one of the original grads! Sorry to hear you're in such a stressful situation. Hopefully your DH and your mum will have a different opinion when they are talking about a real baby rather than a hypothetical one. On the savings point, I guess you would still have a solid few months to try and save a deposit even though you are pregnant. Is it feasible to move to a cheaper area so that you could afford a mortgage without the promotion?

I am hoping that the sun comes back out - the only shoes I can wedge my feet into are flipflops so will be a disaster if the weather gets so bad that I can't wear them anymore! Does anyone know how quickly after the baby is born my feet are likely to go back to normal proportions???

kat2504 · 07/09/2011 15:17

Sends best wishes to wombat for induction tomorrow!

cep · 07/09/2011 16:00

afternoon ladies.

wombat i can understand you being scared, so so excited for you though, goodluck for tomorrow.

After 2 days back at work i am knackered, don't know how i'm going to do 4 more weeks.

Oh and i've booked onto a bf class thing, it's only a 2hr session but am hoping they'll be able to help with some of the things i had problems with last time.

CollieandPup · 07/09/2011 16:08

Afternoon lovelies!!

Well had my 28 (29wk) mw apt. All seems ok, but another uneventful meet! If you recall at my 26wk apt she had me buy canesten pessary and cream for my non existent thrush, so that if I was still showing traces of protein in my urine she would do a swab. So today, of course, I still have traces of protein, but because I'm not not having thrush symptoms, no swab. So that truley was a waste of my £12 which could have been sent on cake Oh, funny thing was though, she sent me to the loo to poas, and I peed, but forgot to poas!!!!! Grin sat there for what felt like an age trying to squeeze another trickle out!! Lol. God knows what she thought I was doing!!!

Measured a wk small, which amazed me as Pup was above average in all aspects at last weeks scan. But I'm not concerned.

Also mentioned my cramps around my bump. The best I could describe them where pains/cramps, a bit like what you might get if you've eaten something dodgy....but definitely bump region. She said prob BH..... But I think I've been able to recognise my BH. I get a very tight bump, and it's particulary tight and tender in my lower bump. I don't think I've had a tight bump (contraction) at the same time as these cramps. Would anyone else describe their BH like my cramps??

harassed Grin at your cure for insomnia.... I assume NOT because it sends you to sleep!!! Grin

Right, at the risk of appearing to be a complete nutter, can I ask some advice on a hospital bag. I got freaked out yesterday by my bounty update telling me I was nearly 30wks and should prepare one.... That and 2 ladies off the nov thread having given birth already. I'm only putting a list together at the moment, as I really haven't bought much of what I'll need. I've put the list together from coconuts thread which was excellent!! so.....

  1. Breast pads- I have bought a pack of 50, don't think I'll need the whole pack... How many will I need? I plan to a pack a short stay bag and then an additional longer stay bag to be brought later if needed.

  2. Clothes - I'm at a loss. I need something to come home in, ideally x2 spare bottoms. But if I pack my maternity leggings I'll have nothing to wear. Someone on coconuts thread said above the bump or dress was necessary... Really? It'll be very cold in Nov for a dress!! Also, top wise, how much will my bump go down after birth? Will I be able to wear loose not maternity tops- I.e. Too small for full term bump but ok post birth. Or will I still be left with huge belly for a while??

  3. MummyA recommended a 'receiving' blanket.... What the hell is one of these??? I have a celluar one.

  4. someone said 30 nappies for a short stay, +20 more for longer..... Really?.. My bag isn't big enough!!!!

4)clothes for baby (short stay) x3 vests, x3 sleep suits, cardi, mits, hat, socks, going home outfit..... Too much???

Sorry for mahoosive post and million questions!!!!

CollieandPup · 07/09/2011 16:09

Ha, I can't count!!!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 07/09/2011 16:18

boodle congrats and all the very best - sounds like a tricky situation but fx you can work it out. As others have said, I'm sure your mum and dh will feel differently about a real rather than hypothetical baby Smile

wombat how exciting!! Hope you're doing ok, lovely, will be keeping my fx for a quick and easy birth for you x

birthing ball just arrived, can't wait to get it set up!

bigmacandhappymeal · 07/09/2011 16:24

wombat huge good luck for tomorrow... can't wait to hear news

collie sounds like we have got a very similar preggers experience. the only difference being that I haven't lost my appetite, I just can't eat as much :( Re the BH... no not really, mine's more of an all over ache that's also in my back. Like all things preggers, I do wonder if it's different for everyone? Which is helpful...

My 28 week appt and bloodbathtest is tomorrow. Gulp.

Blimey. The list. I think you are right to think about it. I don't have much advice to give other than I got some yoga pant things from the dotty p's maternity bit of their website. £18 and they are SO comfortable and might be just the ticket for coming home in? I live in them at home. They have a fold over top so can be above or below the bump and aren't too Waynetta Slob and haven't gone all baggy on my arse despite said living in them.

My cousin who just popped said that her belly was a bit smaller, afterwards but took a few days to go down and was weirdly jelly like for a while. Imagine it would be comforting to have something 'hugging' that?

Receiving blanket - huh?

Nappies - I read that a newborn could get through 7 - 12 a day so I guess that's not too off the mark. The little ones clothes sound fine to me but I am chronic over-packer...

What about mahoosive sani pads for afterwards? I think we're all going to need them. Gak.

I think you need a mum bag and a baby bag :)

harassed iiiiinnnnnntttteerrrrrrresting... I very much doubt it, but I might give that a try. We're away on hols next week so I'll report back a) if we managed to b) if it helped Grin I have found buying the Puzzler Collection Blush has been helpful for me at about 3.30am. I am an old lady rather than a sexpot. God, poor you re still being sick.

OP posts:
PinkFondantFancy · 07/09/2011 16:44

collie I love the fact that your hospital bag list has just 5 items on it. I have mostly packed mine and it has about 10000000000000 things. If I get the chance tonight or tomorrow I will type out what I've packed so that people can see what they think. I've packed a labour bag, and an 'afterwards' bag IYSWIM so that DH doesn't have to rummage through everything to find what I need.... I've also done the go to the loo and forget to POAS thing - I always have a handy bottle of pre-bottled pee with me just in case Grin So is your MW basically just ignoring the fact that there's protein in your wee? That sounds a bit weird Confused

milkyways · 07/09/2011 16:45

Hello everyone!

Big congratulations to dachs again

blackkat hope your friend is okay, and I agree with others about the card and a text later. I can understand she may want time to herself, but at the same time be happy for you too. I am sure she won't think you are rubbing her face in it.

coconuts You poor thing. You must be in alot of pain :( Hope your mw sorts out something out at the hospital. Keep pushing for it!

Congratulations boodle and thanks for the thread!

Izzy I am attending classes again, and it's my second time. Nothing wrong with a catch up. Also I was induced with an epidural so never really got to do the whole breathing thing, or going through pre-labour at home. I think this little man will be coming early though, so best to be prepared!

daisy Ugh!! Yes! I can sympathise with you about the acid reflux and bile! I vomited in my sleep last week.....and then swallowed it!!!! It was HORRIBLE. My Dad has given me something called ENO, it's like fruit salts you put in water for heartburn. He bought it back from his last trip to malaysia, and it has helped me alot. A drink of it after dinner, and it gets rid of that horrible acidy feeling. Also, I read that an alkali diet is good for preventing heartburn. I got it really bad the day I was eating plums, and then as soon as I stopped the plums the heartburn went down. Google alkali foods, and try to eat loads of those during the day. It really does work.

Very excited for you wombat! I was induced with DD, and it's lovely knowing that you will be holding your baby at a given date! Good luck for tomorrow!

pink The night I came back home with DD, I sweated in bed. Literally sweated in bucket loads. I was sweating from places like my shins (wtf?!!) and my ankles. The next few days I noticed that my feet looked normal again, but my hands have remained chubbier than pre-pregnancy.

collie breastpads - 50 should be okay to start off with, but remember you will be using 2 at a time. You will be leaking alot when your milk comes in, so get in another pack just in case. Oh I just read its for your hospital bag. The first milk you produce will be thick and won't leak. I didn't start leaking milk until the 3rd day after DD had learnt how to latch on, so just take 25 with you just incase.

clothes wise your belly won't go down that much at all, so any of your comfy maternity clothes will be fine - but remember you won't have a baby to squish afterwards, so you could get away with normal leggings in a bigger size.

nappies - what bigmac said. Baby clothes sound fine! Do you have a thick pram/snowsuit? DD was born in November and it was really windy and cold the night we bought her home, so pack extra blankets and a woolly hat too!

Wow that's a long post! My DD went back to nursery today, and it feels so nice to sit down with a coffee and just be by myself for a little while! But I'm still missing her!

I've decided to add myself to the graduates list! But I'll do it later!

Waves at everyone - hope you're having a fab Wednesday!!

CollieandPup · 07/09/2011 16:46

Got to say not lost my appetite for chocolate though! Just polished off a bar of coop's fair trade orange and spice without it even touching the sides!!! Delicious!!! Yummmmm

Right, wish me luck all. NCT class in an hour!!!

tobearornottobear · 07/09/2011 16:58

Aww bless u all ladies for making me welcome...it means a lot. I think Totallys Grads attracts a certain kinda MNer and u r all so supportive of eachother its beautiful. I still fb friends with some of ther original threaders and we got bouncing year or thereabouts old babies now....crazy how far ago pregnancy seems!!!

Alba!!! Big hello to you how are you??

So i told dh at 6am this morn....he is less than impressed as we will need to return to renting but i figure he will come round. He will have to eh! I feel v protective of the new bean now and am really trying to be positive to send sticky vibes....yes we will be poor for next five yrs but dammit i want this baby to take its place in our family where it belongs.....hope mother nature agrees. Going to docs in morn to get early scan arranged cos of ectopic history...

Dachs i can only imagine the trauma u would of been feeling re ectopic as i saw u have two beautiful angel babies on the stats.....i dont believe i was still checking the thread then so just wanted to say i am so sorry for your losses and well done on being so unbelievably brave and trying again....i salute and admire you. Thrilled for u thjat pg is not ectopic....they reaaaallly suck! :)

CollieandPup · 07/09/2011 17:01

lovely to hear from you!!! Awww for your dd going to nursery. Nice to have a rest though!!

pink thats not all my list, just the things I was really unsure on. I have 3 lists.... Baby bag, my short stay bag, and a longer stay bag with a mixture of mine and babies stuff!!! Blush

Maybe I'll type my lists out too.... Can't be arsed starting up a thread though so I'll have to bore all you lot instead Grin

Bigger sized leggings might be a good idea, then I can continue to wear them post birth as no doubt nothing will fit for a while. Its just hard to pack mat clothes, when I have so little.

Thanks for the advice so dar ladies. Advice on pads is helpful. I think maybe less nappies in the short stay bag if 7ish a day. Maybe 15. That's 2 days worth. Then more in the ling stay bag.

Am reflecting in the irony of my posts!!!! I'm packing these bags and yet I have no cot, in fact no nursery, and my bathroom and kitchen (on the same floor) look like a bomb site as DH is still DIYing the bathroom!!!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 07/09/2011 17:01

collie do u want me to write up alist of everything I have put in mine that I decided on after my fabulous thread? Grin

laylasmummy09 · 07/09/2011 18:08

Hi everyone can I join you from the newly updiffed thread please? I'm 20+4 and found out at my sacan today we are having a boy and he seems healthy so I'm feeling quite brave now, I also have suspected cholastitis but got a 2 ww for blood test, can't read back far as I'm on my phone but congratulations to you all on getting this far x

Freezingmyarseoff · 07/09/2011 19:50

Wombat masses of good wishes for tomorrow. How exciting (mostly)

Collie I would say less on the breast pads. I think there is less leakage in the early stages of breast feeding - certainly very little with the colostrum, and as I remember it wasn't really until my milk supply really settled down after a few weeks. Also take lots of proper maternity pads. Don't go with ST's, they need to be maternity pads. I made that mistake and had to send DH for some (which I swore I wouldn't do but needs must and all that). Bless him, he came back with Tena Lady Grin
Also, some hospitals do have spare nappies and pads, and disposable changing mat if necessary, but don't count on it.
Remember that your DH can bring lots of stuff in later if you stay for longer, although having a long term bag is v organised.

Thanks for heartburn stories, I feel much relieved that it's normal although I still can't really cope with the thought of gaviscon yet so it can't be that bad. Just a bit nervous because the only time I had bad reflux, I ended up inhaling it and it started to eat my lungs Shock so I'm a bit paranoid.

Izzy I'm not doing classes again but mostly because I know I"m having an ELCS, otherwise I probably would. I am doing NCT ante-natal yoga again though, so I will get lots of ante-natal advice anyway.

Layla Brill news on the scan and welcome Grin
Milkyways hope you had a nice rest today.

waves to everyone else xx

cep · 07/09/2011 19:57

Hi Laylasmummy how are you? yay for team blue.

collie this is my second and i still get a bit confused over what to take.

coconuts i'll say yes as i missed your original thread.

tobear glad it doesn't seem to have gone to badly telling dh. Hopefully he'll come round quickly.

on the topic of hospital bags, who has taken/is taking what for energy snacks?

PinkFondantFancy · 07/09/2011 20:11

Hi laylasmummy lovely to see new people here!

Erm, cep I'm assuming Jaffa Cake mini rolls and After Eights wasn't quite what you were thinking of?? Blush I hope this breastfeeding thing works out for me otherwise I am going to have to live in the gym for the next few years......

IreneHeron · 07/09/2011 20:20

Collie RE: hospital bag, can I add take more maternity pads than you'd ever imagine needing. Take some Biiiiig pants too, just in case of a c section. You don't want anything that will rub around the scar. Proper apple catchers! Also some food, cereal bars or something to keep you and dh going. A nice towel and dressing gown and nightie, slippers. (I had a long stay last time with an emcs and DS with jaundice). Nipple cream is a good idea too.

Velvetcu · 07/09/2011 21:06

coconuts please do post what's in your bag. I was following your other thread so I made a pretty good list I think - just want to check I haven't missed anything important. I really haven't packed that much!

Wombat good luck and it's exciting that you might get to meed miniWombat tomorrow!!

I went for the private scan today as NHS appointment came through and is still another week away. miniV is small but well within normal range, fluid levels and placenta all looking good so nothing to worry about :) If she makes it to 40 weeks she should be around 7lbs but her head is very low down so who knows.

Helloooo to everyone, sorry not to catch up properly but I've only done 3 days back to work and I'm exhausted! I will definitely not be making it to 38 weeks for mat leave as planned!
