Just that really. It's all hypothetically speaking at the moment but if I was ttc a September baby and had my wedding in Februar and was lucky enough to conceive end of December would I need dress alterations? Wink

Probably not. Although ... I was hardly showing at 9 months, which was very disappointing :)

apricotears · 27/07/2011 21:37

I didn't start to show until I was about 28 weeks, but it certainly sounds like one of things that varies greatly for each individual.

chickensaregreen · 27/07/2011 21:37

What about at the beginning of April? 4months?Hmm

I didn't start to show bump wise until about 16 weeks when i had a tiny bump. But your shape will change like curvier hips and bigger boobs before then! My chest size only went up one cup before 20 weeks, but went from a 36inch to a 40 inch back as my ribs expanded!

oinkyoink · 27/07/2011 21:41

20 weeks

Crosshair · 27/07/2011 21:43

Ive gone up 2 cup sizes and have a right tummy at 17 weeks. :(

notlettingthefearshow · 27/07/2011 22:30

Seems to depend a lot especially on how sslim/petite you are to start with. I was neither and at 18+4, no weight gain, no show! Gutted!

Wedding dresses are made to measure and it's normal to have them adjusted, anyway, so why worry?

chickensaregreen · 27/07/2011 22:37

Thanks all. Not worrying. Highly unlikely to happen but its a possibility. I am going to go with the flow. It's seems that everyone is different and will just wait and see!Smile

I find tall people tend to go alot longer before showing. Also when ttc it can happen stright away so be prepared for that :)

Hope you have a nice wedding!

LoveInAColdChamberOfSecrets · 28/07/2011 07:37

It seems to totally depend on how your body deals with it. I am 6.5 weeks and already struggling to get into certain clothes (most of my suits, annoyingly!) but I haven't actually put on a single ounce, it's just somehow redistributed itself! I doubt I could get back into my wedding dress now, and certainly wouldn't be able to cope with the tight bodice without throwing up or fainting!

BikeRunSki · 28/07/2011 07:44

DC1 - Didn't really look pg right up until he was born at 38 weeks
DC2 - Noticeable tummy at about 14 weeks

You need to go Empire Line!

MumblingRagDoll · 28/07/2011 07:45

I was 3 months.....I'm 5 feet 6 and slim build. I ended up MASSIVE! Grin

LoveInAColdChamberOfSecrets · 28/07/2011 07:56

Oh yes, should have said that am a very slight size 8 so maybe that makes a difference in that there is less space for organs to be shoved aside by growing uterus or something so am redistributing weight earlier?

Pastabee · 28/07/2011 08:00

I'd say be careful about the dress you pick if you are ttc. My wedding dress was beautiful but it had a boned, ribboned corset bit. I could have fitted in it tummy wise up to about 15 weeks I guess but I couldn't have had anything tightly squashed against my very tender boobs from about 5 weeks onwards.

Enjoy your wedding and good luck ttc.

MumblingRagDoll · 28/07/2011 09:05

Love it will probably take a while before you show if you're small....I was a spory looking size 10 on the bottom and 8 on the top when I got pregnant....I had abs to die for....when I say I showed at 3 months I did but had I wanted to get married I could have worn any dress really...I had a slight bump and you may do....but it's easily hidden.

First baby - probably OK. I got to 14 weeks and got upset because my interview suit was really tight. Two days later I found out this was because I was pregnant. I just looked a bit podgier than usual until about 5 months.

Pregnancy 2 - 10 weeks today and it's looking rather obvious. Haven't been able to wear most of my usual clothes for a couple weeks.

msbuggywinkle · 28/07/2011 09:37

DD1 about 20 weeks.

DD2 and DC3 around 15 weeks.

A friend got married a few weeks ago at 16 weeks pregnant, she'd just gone for an empire line dress so didn't need it altering.

Zimm · 28/07/2011 09:42

With DD (first babe) I could still wear my fitted suit at 18 weeks, I would have thought a wedding dress would be fine at 3 months, by maybe just buy next size up and then you can get it altered the week before.

GetOffOfMyCloud · 28/07/2011 09:50

I'm (normally) a fairly flat stomached UK size 12-14, I wasn't actually showing a proper bump but at 8 weeks some of my trousers felt tight around my waist when I sat down, and my boobs were extremely tender (how i prayed I could teach my clothes to levitate away from my body!) so you would need to be careful about a dress that is too fitted as it could be quite uncomfortable.

I didn't properly "show" until about 14-16 weeks, I just looked a bit bloated.

I like msbuggywinkle's idea of an empire line dress, they can be very flattering anyway and wouldn't be too snug if you did start to show early or felt uncomfortable with anything tight.

Ilovekittyelise · 28/07/2011 10:01

as you can see from the different responses, it varies a lot. the main thing i would say that if you conceive in december and plan a february wedding, theres quite a high chance that you will feel totally awful (tired, sick, emotional) in the months leading up to your wedding when you are trying to prepare, and on your wedding itself. also, without wishing to put a downer on things, theres also the possiblity of miscarriage, problems with the pregnancy, 12 week scan revealing that something is wrong; unless you have the dream pregnancy you are taking quite a high risk overall that you will not be feeling your best on your wedding day, and whether you are 'showing' or not its pretty likely you will feel bloated and unattractive!

sorry to put a downer on things just my opinion im sure others have had better first trimester experiences than me!

oh and also, you cant get drunk....

superjobee · 28/07/2011 10:02

with DD i had a teeny teeny bump at 13 weeks but was more like 18/20 weeks when i started to show, with this PG i was about 8 weeks!! when i started to pooj right out but only really started showing noticably to others again around 20 weeks i just looked fat before then Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 28/07/2011 10:05

This is one thing I'm really sad about. Being a fatarse I don't 'show' until about 38 weeks. I'm 17 weeks now with dc2 so am probably showing but all it's doing is pushing my flab out further than it usually is! It's the one thing I'm really sorry about, that I'll never have a 'bump' picture :(
