Changing bag recomendations please

I'm expecting my first in September and need some advice - Does anyone have any recommendations regarding changing bags?

Yes, don't bother with a big one! I think they are hideous! I have a medium monkeys foot wet bag. Hold all I've ever needed. suppose that bottle feeding might need more space.

Blinking heck....£116 for a changing bag!? It'd better be good. I have bought a travel changing mat for £3 from mothercare and will be using one of my existing bags, unless I get one for my birthday in which case I saw a nice one on amazon for about £20. Each to their own! :)

I've used the free one from Boots for the last one and another is awaiting this one. I also got on included in the pack of Onelife nappies I got from Kiddicare.

I'd love to justify spending £116 on a changing bag but sadly can't!

Not due til September either so haven't used it yet but it comes with a travel changing mat and a cool pocket for bottle, as well as loads of different pockets. It seems good but I won't really know until I have used it I guess. They have this special velcro thing at each side which stops the bag slipping down the pram handles. And I think it was only £35 so I didn't think that was too bad.

And sorry - having checked the link, I wouldn't spend £116 on that!

I did once consider spending £80 on one (in more financially stable times) but it was buttersoft leather so a proper investment IMO.

Yummy babymel bags look good. V reasonable. Might ask if someone fancies getting me one for my birthday which is around my EDD :) Thanks for posting.

ohh actually the one I like is tiny.... maybe not so useful!

Small is fine. The more space you have the more baby clutter you will find to fill it with. What's the worst that can happen?

I have three children and have never owned a changing bag. I just don't get it.

Don't bother with a changing bag... Ridiculously pointless IME. Instead buy a Skip Hop changing mat (it has pockets for nappies, wipes etc...). It will fit in any large bag, but best if all will strap to your buggy or wrist (especially when you need to go to weigh ins etc.. And need all the spare hands you have).

My advice is get more than 1!! If you get leaks or spills, and are on the way out its very easy to grab your spare fully packed bag!

Ikea have some in the sale that make great backup bags - reduced from £20+ to about £5 - it folds out into a changing bag too.

Sainsburys little ones club freebie (with voucher and purchase of nappies) is a mini changing bag/mat among other things

Boots have a free bag if you join their baby club & buy nappies

I have got the little lifestyles maternity weekender (i like big bags! & carry EVERYTHING with me!) from ebay as it was cheapest i found it ANYWHERE

I have this one :) And it's gorgeous! So useful, so many pockets and compartments, and you can tell that it's going to last for a while! Plus it also comes in pink and lilac, so if you have a girl you can have a different colour.

It is one of the Mumsnet Best in the reviews and sounded great with seperate bits you can take out and clip to your pram. Couldn't quite justify the cost so asked for it for my birthday... I haven't yet started to use it (baby due anytime now though) but I look at it from time to time as it's such a gorgeous bag

DD 5 weeks old, have 2, the free boots one lives in our room next to changing mat, with a change of clothes in, useful if u need to make a quick change as you don't have to go off in search for clothes whilst baby is wriggling.

My other is a silver cross one that came with and matches my pram. Its quiet big with plenty of pockets. Including thin ones on end ideal for phone and car keys when your balancing baby, car seat etc.

If chosing another, i'm not as can't justify expense, i'd look for one that easily fits over pram/pushchair handle, wipe clean, lots of space/pockets, i use cloth nappies so they take up more space than disposables. Oh an insulated bottle section would be useful too.

Tesco (or whichever supermarket you frequent), about £5 for a sizeable rucksack. Sticking 'baby' on the front of something seems to have the same effect as sticking 'wedding' on it: you can add at least one extra zero to the end of the price! Just get a generic run-of-the-mill bag :)

I got this one and like it, not huge inside so if we are going out for the day I use my old uni bag because we are at the weaning stage so need to carry more than we used to.

I found I had already ample sized bags in my house but I am a hoarder.

Another vote for the freebie one from boots - Room for bottles of water, breast bads, nappies, cream and wipes plus it comes with a handy mat - We looked at some in John Lewis but tbh none of them were particularly baby-ish and I refused to pay £60+ for a water proof handbag.

It was also one of the only bags that matched and fit my Joolz pram.

My DS is nearly 2 and the boots one is still going strong - My Mum and Dad use it when they take him out (I use a backpack/wheelie thing).

My dh bought me the mamas and papas luna bag to match our pram when he bought that, he also bought me a yummy mummy one for my birthday both of which i love and can't wait to use, they yummy mummy one is definatly one for the girls it has a shocking pink lining very me but i'm considering getting the cath kidston one as well with the cowboys on it since i'm expecting a little boy (a girl can never have too many bags and as i found when i had my first one i stopped using a handbag and everything went into the changing bag)

I had a Skip Hop Duo for dd and that was fab. I did bf though and I'm not sure if there would be enough room for say a days worth of bottles.... I liked that it wasn't huge though. Also liked the way it clips onto the buggy handles.

Gutted that I sold it now....

(what's wrong with spending 100 odd quid on a changing bag, i don't think thats too expensive i've spent more than that on clothes lol)

Just spend the money on a really nice large handbag and get a changing mat and a plastic zip lock bag thing to put gross things inside.

That bag looks really cute hmmm i think the question should be how many changing bags is too many, i may well be putting that on my xmas list. sleepysox is it really practical, is there room for my wallet etc?
