...sorry for another name thread.... but I'm due (today!) and we are still struggling with names. TBH, I'm not too worried, but DH seems to be getting a bit manic about it. :-)

What are the most common names of baby girls being born this year that you know. Which names do you like (and which do you think are a bit overdone?)

All, any, and every kind of help very appreciated!

Not MY Lettice. She'd be so cool and beautiful and clever.

but that brings the jealousy card in to play too! lol

it reminds me of that rabbit too... in the books

snufflepuss · 18/11/2005 21:37

I have a 9 month old Scarlett and have met loads of other baby Scarlett's too.

Well, I like all my names! When I named dd I felt so absurdly sad I didn't have all my other daughters that existed just as names. Come on, how many baby Romillys and Susans and Angelicas do you know?

surfermum · 18/11/2005 21:40

So more of an iceberg as opposed to a limp lollo rosso .

aloha · 18/11/2005 21:41

She'd be the coolest, crispest little Lettice you could imagine.

starlover · 18/11/2005 21:41

eidsvold has my name on her list too!

Aloha - Leah, Cecily and Frances, where on earth did you get those names from?

aloha · 18/11/2005 21:44

Dunno (she says innocently)

Names are a funny old thing arn't they?

Apprently my DD2 has a "common" name now. Weird really, because we picked both our DDs forenames from Jeeves and Wooster books (well - there ARE stranger ways I suppose!!).

With no offence taken from anyone who has expressed a dislike, but for the record, because I think they are beautiful names, and would not have a problem with there being lots around really my DDs are
Florence Esme, and Madeline Alice.

NB. They are neither Flo nor Maddie. Not because I don't like them, just because - well, they never have been. They are Flossie (as per J&W!) and Mads...

aloha · 18/11/2005 21:45

Good idea!

Names of the girls born to people I know (or know of)) this year:

Grace Isabella(my dd2!)
Millie
Abbie Mae
Agnes Willow
Hannah
Pippa
Emily

My other dd is Phoebe Cerys

bee3 · 18/11/2005 21:48

I like all the names on your list, bebejam, although I have had 3 friends (they are all unconnected) call baby girls Olivia in the past year.

Clara was in my top 5 (if ds had been a girl) - I think it's a lovely name. I really like Florence too, but had already used it for our very beautiful cat.

hoxtonchick · 18/11/2005 21:52

our florence is definitely not flo or florrie - anyone who tries it gets strictly told off by ds.

Calista · 18/11/2005 21:52

Jemima?
