I am 9w + 5d and am having THE most mental and sometimes horrid dreams. I need to share these with you as they create such a mix of feelings for me. Last night I dreamt that Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall was my lover but then this lead into another dream where I had a miscarriage. It was awful. I was crying in my dream but I couldn't seem to cry enough and it hurt.

I know they are just dreams but they really affect me. They are in FULL technicolour. So odd.

Am I going mad and tell me this is related to pg!

:/

I think it's a pg thing! I have had some corkers. I dreamt a couple of weeks ago that I gave birth but instead of a lovely cuddly baby, it was like a tiny, fully grown man! It was quite gross. Though Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall....not sure what's worse! ;)

I'm further along than you and haven't had too many of them lately so perhaps it will pass.

saoirse86 · 23/05/2011 11:08

I had some really bad dreams in my first trimester but they did go. I don't know if it's linked to anxiety or just hormones maybe. I think I had both!

I hope you get rid of them soon. Smile

applecheeks21 · 23/05/2011 11:11

Rootatoot - HFW is FAR worse! I don't even fancy him - but I was BESOTTED with him in my dream last night. Here's hoping they pass!!

I am a little anxious - just normal really I think. Work is quite hard and I want to tell people but we are waiting! It's a tough one.

Hey Ho. On I go! Thanks ladies :) Oh and I am VERY happy about this pg btw!!

I had a dream a few days ago where I won a baby, but didnt have enough tokens to cash it in? Was all very odd.

jenga079 · 23/05/2011 11:16

You're not alone. There was a hilarious thread on here a couple of months ago about ridiculous pregnancy dreams. It included one woman who dreamt she gave birth to a pizza. They do get better. I promise!

apricotears · 23/05/2011 11:43

In my first trimester I had all sorts of terrifying dreams! The most notable were me giving birth to a beaver, which then attacked me moments after I gave it the gift of life!

The other really disturbing one was when I went to work, parked my car in full sun and continued to come out at regular intervals to put a fresh pack of frozen peas on my baby so my darling child would not dehydrate!

HAHA- bonkers Hmm

applecheeks21 · 23/05/2011 12:20

I love these stories - keep them coming. I feel so normal now!! :)

I dreamt I gave birth to 8 baby girls (all at once). And I was furious with DH for not being at the birth... Grin

I've had many other random dreams (last night I dreamt someone kidnapped a toddler and for 3 years lived with him under the house they'd kidnapped him from...I was part of the family who'd lost the toddler and we went through 3 years of grief only to find the child still alive and well living underneath us!).

The dreams don't bother me so much but the emotion attached to them stays with me for hours and can leave me feeling very shaky the next day.

applecheeks21 · 23/05/2011 12:31

Bartimaeus YES, I understand that feeling. I still feel weird now. Its defo the emotion! Phew - not just me then!

I dreamt I gave birth to a black hairy hog and my mum persuaded me to breast feed it and it bit my nipples off as it already had narly teeth...yukkk x

apricotears · 23/05/2011 12:49

Leo, until now I had not had anything rival my beaver birthing story... but the breast fed black hairy dog may just do it! I am literally LMAO! I know it's macarb, but I have the funniest visual of a breast feeding scruffy black dog!

apricotears · 23/05/2011 12:50

Oh- I just re-read that and saw it said HOG.... that's even funnier!

ToriaPumpkin · 23/05/2011 12:53

I had some horrendous ones in my first trimester, there were all the obvious miscarriage ones but I've also had a few where the baby is born and is massively advanced, sitting up, talking etc, in fact last night I'm sure the baby was walking at a few weeks old, eating solid food and talking to me. In fact I woke up quite convinced that tiny helpless infants are a myth! I'm nearly 18 weeks now and they're less vivid an terrifying but still weird Grin

applecheeks21 · 23/05/2011 13:00

I also never told you that I really LOVED Hugh in my dream. I felt that feeling when I first met my husband (I do actually still get that feeling) but it was as though I was in a serious, deep and VERY secret relationship with him. It felt so real! Weird.

I love hearing about these dreams. Breast feeding a hog is impressive!

I wonder what's in store for us tonight!!

IvyAndGold · 23/05/2011 13:11

yeah, i had crazy pregnancy dreams, used to dream that my baby kept changing sex, but i couldn't keep up with it, so i would say 'what a beautiful boy' and people would look at me like i was a complete buffoon because the baby was clearly a girl. then i'd put the them in a dress and would be ridiculed for dressing a boy as a girl

also used to dream that i would just leave the baby everywhere, like go shopping and leave them in the trolley but not realise until i was home. only ever done that in a dream though thankfully! Grin

Leo4 · 23/05/2011 13:28

apricottears It might well have been a dog it was so massive and hairy..the only things that made it a hog was its pig snout and trotters..it makes my hole family wet themselves with laughter whenever it is mentioned...your beaver one is hilarious too..we should start a thread of dreams of animal babies!! haha
and applecheeks it bit off my nipples and all the milk started to gush out haha x

applecheeks21 · 23/05/2011 13:34

Leo4 I bet that one stayed with you for a while!!

OP posts:
Leo4 · 23/05/2011 14:21

indeed it did but there have been some horrible more scary than funny ones too..so I know how you feel xx

Cattleprod · 23/05/2011 14:27

They're so vivid aren't they! A couple of nights ago I dreamt I was married to James Bolam - the older, 'Grandpa in my Pocket' version. Except he was dressed like an emo teenager - piercings all over his face, lots of black clothing, chains etc. Confused

Renaissance227 · 23/05/2011 14:53

I am so glad I'm not alone. I've dreamt lots of vivid dreams. Two about miscarrying this baby where I was so upset I woke up crying and wanting to try for another! I've also dreamt about my grandparents dying. Another one was my DP and I went somewhere I've never been before and he went to ask for directions and never came back. I was frantically searching for him in a panic!

I have to say that at 18 weeks the dreams are less frequent but I still have them and hate every min.

cara2244 · 23/05/2011 21:16

Aw hang in there, they do stop. My dreams were just filled with blood and misery throughout the first trimester, it was horrible. I think it helps to talk about them. They stopped after about 13 weeks and I have bizarre ones now but nothing gory or horrible anymore.

Thornykate · 23/05/2011 23:28

My worst pg dream was when I dreamt I gave birth to a huge seabird; a cormorant to be precise Hmm

That was 12yrs ago when expecting DS2 & I feel so much better knowing that other ladies have birthed hogs & beavers Grin although I might have to consult dr googles dream dictionary to see what this means. In my case it was probably fueled by indigestion after too much late night snacking.

Agree that any dreams about HFW of that nature are highly disturbing, think I would be afraid of falling asleep again after that!

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 23/05/2011 23:32

I see your birthing of a cormorant and raise you a fecking pigeon.

I also dreamt I went to my first scan and they found I was gestating a tarantula.

Pregnancy dreams are bloody weird.

apricotears · 24/05/2011 05:39

This thread has given me a well needed laugh; work, uni and pregnancy in general have been getting a bit on top of me lately... so thanks for sharing ladies Grin

SpannerPants · 24/05/2011 08:49

I'm glad it's not just me - last night I dreamt I gave birth to a baby with centipede legs, and DP had a struggle to put a nappy on it! I'm 33 weeks and think the dreams are getting weirder!
