Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

MakesCakesWhenStressed - expecting #1 EDD 10 Jan 2012

I'd be keen, Lucy, and Summertown would be perfect! I'm free all day.

I'm kind of hopeful that things might be getting moving here - I'm still having regular Braxton Hicks (down to 5-6 min gaps earlier, but less frequently again now), have been feeling very crampy for two or three days, but it's more in my back today, and I had a show this morning. And most importantly, DH is 20 miles away at work and the car is having something replaced so he can't get home immediately - surely that's the best way to guarantee that things kick off! So if it's just me and thee then I'll be sure to send you a text if things get going.

Lucycarr · 17/01/2012 17:40

Great ghost, shall we say 11 ish at M and S if you are not otherwise engaged?!

ghosteditor · 17/01/2012 18:57

Hi Lucy, things are actually looking pretty promising, so let's say I'll text you by 09.30 tomorrow if I'm able to make it.

Proper contractions here I think, varying between 4 and 7 mins at the moment. Will try to keep posting!

Lucycarr · 17/01/2012 20:12

Ooo how exciting for you! I look forward to your updates : )

Rollersara · 17/01/2012 22:02

How exciting! Congratulations to moobee, good luck ghost!

Lucycarr · 17/01/2012 22:23

Just thought, I hope hubby made it back ghost...

Thanks cakes I got that impression! How are you and baby Leo doing?

ghosteditor · 18/01/2012 08:40

Thanks cakes Grin.

I'm delighted to announce the birth of our beautiful daughter at 00.50 this morning! She arrived after a very speedy labour - had my first painful contraction at 4.30pm and went into the MW unit when cx were 1-2 mins apart at about 9pm. They only advised I came in because I was bleeding quite heavily, but on examination I was 8.5 cm dilated! I was still coping ok and immensely cheered by the news so I did the whole thing with TENS, massage, and breathing. Unfortunately at 10cms my BP became dangerously high and I had to leave the MW centre to go down to delivery, but I really didn't care by then! I'm being kept in for suspected PE but my BP is right down now so signs are good. A few stitches but otherwise an easy birth!

I'm overwhelmed and thrilled and enjoying serious snuggle time with my beautiful little girl! Smile

Lucycarr · 18/01/2012 09:12

Woohoo! Congratulations and welcome little one.
Looking forward to an update on her name I read your thread re girls names!
...... I guess you won't make it for coffee today then?! X

ghosteditor · 18/01/2012 09:22

As much as I'd love to Grin, they're keeping me in for a few days, in case I have PE (it's probably PIH, but booo I don't get to go home today...)

Lucycarr · 18/01/2012 10:11

Seriously I know you want to go home but make the most of your stay in hospital ( assuming it's possible to sleep) feed and rest where you can when you get home real life kicks in!
Also if planning to breast feed take this opportunity to mainline chocolate - you can never justify it in this quantity again : )
X

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 18/01/2012 10:31

I've gone off chocolate. Leo is doing so well, such a strong, brave little chap. His mummy is not doing quite ad well, but I have good sport and i'll get there. Thanks for asking.

Looks like us oxfordshire girls are doing a JR relay...!

Support, obviously

Oh cakes, sending you a big hug. You'll get there, it's tough the first few days and a major transition. If there is anything you want or need, just let me know, I'm only round the corner.

Moobie and ghost, I'm so excited for you both. Pregnancy hormones have defo kicked in and I even cried a little bit when I read about your speedy labour ghost.

Really want to meet all these little ones, when do you think you'll be ready for a meet up? Could we provisionally set a date of thurs 26th, or if that's too early how about the 1st of feb?

Rollersara · 18/01/2012 12:31

Wow, congratulations ghost!

I saw my consultant yesterday at the JR, baby is head down and ready to go. As I left the consultant said, "See you in 2 weeks, unless she's arrived by then!" - first time it has seemed quite so real!

ghosteditor · 18/01/2012 14:29

That's exciting Sara, good luck!

Cakes, you're doing a fab job and don't forget it! You're actually my hero as there's no way I could have done what you did. I'm wiped out after an easy time and one sleepless night!

And Lucy, how you deal with a toddler too... Heroes!! A meet up sounds lovely: 26th would be good in theory, why don 't we plan it? I may bail if I'm struggling but it's good to make plans. Smile

Lucycarr · 18/01/2012 14:37

Is this a daytime or evening meet in theory? If daytime I will also have my little man with me...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/01/2012 04:46

I would love to meet up but am slightly restricted by the fact that yet again I am not allowed to drive.... Or even lift anything heavier than Leo. Frustrating.

OP posts:
chocolatesparkle · 19/01/2012 10:11

Milla, I can give you a lift. I only have a 3 door car, but we could put Leo in the back if you were happy (I guess you can't squeeze into back after c-section?)

Do you have a car seat that can go in any car-we haven't got a baby seat yet. X

PurplePanda · 19/01/2012 21:02

Gosh it's all happening on here!

Congratulations to Ghost and Moobee on the birth of your daughters Thanks. What names did you chose for your little ladies?

And good luck Sara - sounds like you're little one is quite imminent too.

Hope all the mummies are keeping their heads above water, tough isn't it? Make sure you have plenty of Brew

The lady at the baby cafe gave me a list of pram and breastfeeding friendly venues in Oxford - I'll post it when I find it (house is a bit of a bomb site right now) - maybe we could use it to choose venues for the meet ups?

ghosteditor · 19/01/2012 22:22

Sounds great Panda!

Despite still being in hospital for my BP, baby Juliet and I are doing well Grin

Lucycarr · 20/01/2012 01:45

Good idea panda, ooh llove the name Juliet ghost v nice : )

chocolatesparkle · 21/01/2012 11:10

Hi everyone, shall we say 2.30 on Thursday?

Panda, have you found your list of baby friendly places? If not, it was previously suggested that we went to a supermarket cafe on the south Oxfordshire ring road I think? I'm not sure where but Lucy seemed to think there was one that would be easy for us all to get to. Lucy?!

Oh, I'm so excited to see you all with your little ones. X
