Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

MakesCakesWhenStressed - expecting #1 EDD 10 Jan 2012

Had a really lovely evening too. Great to see lots of people again, I feel as if we're really starting to get to know each other now.

Hope you are feeling better Moobie. Sorry you forgot Sara, I keep wondering if it's too early for me to blame all my dozeyness on baby-brain!

Right, better get browsing the internet for some maternity work wear...it's getting urgent!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 28/11/2011 07:41

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 28/11/2011 18:34

No, sorry Penguin - a Wallingford mum's group I was telling Sparkle about

it was good to see you at yoga lucy! Interesting stuff on baby positioning!

I can't believe someone stole my spot though - do they not know who I am? Wink

Lucycarr · 29/11/2011 16:45

Nope obviously not ghost and I felt like I had been moved to the front so the teacher could keep a closer eye on me! I like being hidden at the back no one can see me wobble back there ; )
Not sure if I said but am away next week back week after all being well. Am going to email Nicole to see what she thinks about a Xmas drink after our last class : )

ghosteditor · 29/11/2011 17:36

That's a great idea! Ok, I won't leap to any conclusions when we don't see you next week Grin

Lucycarr · 29/11/2011 20:54

Hehe hadn't thought of that!

PenguinArmy · 01/12/2011 10:16

I've not been on the local buses yet. If I got a bus into town, what are the chances of buggy spaces or having to put it down? Trying to decide if (i) I'm brave enough to go into the city with them yet and (ii) whether to sling and stroller or take the double or(iii) just drive and pay for the car park.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 01/12/2011 16:12

The Park and Ride buses were pretty good for buggy spaces, IIRC. I'd say a sling might be easier with a teeny tiny, so you're not worrying about him, but I suppose it depends how manouevrable your double is...

Sorry, that's not very helpful, is it? All I know is that the tourists and shoppers in Oxford were insanely pushy and it probably won;t be any better now it's on the run up to Xmas...

ghosteditor · 02/12/2011 08:09

Don't forget you have to pay to park at the park and rides now - makes it much less economic for us Angry

I think perhaps Water Eaton p£&r is free to
park but am not sure of frequency of buses. Oxford is hard work at this time of year so good luck! Wink

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 02/12/2011 12:05

WTactualF??? They're not free any more?
That sucks!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 03/12/2011 09:21

Nope - they just started charging Sad - think it's £2.50 per day or thereabouts, plus bus fare. Still marginally cheaper than getting the bus for me but there's the petrol to think of too. And defs cheaper than paying parking in Oxford!

Lucycarr · 03/12/2011 23:40

I use the park and ride from water eaton quite often have never had a problem with buggy spaces the bus drivers are super helpful. I am a bit of a shopaholic (oops!) and have to say whilst Oxford is busy I find it's actually quite easy to get around.
I would prob go for a sling and a single buggy for ease.
Ps water eaton still free to park but doesn't run Sunday's!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 07/12/2011 19:14

what did you decide penguin?

I went to Bicester Village on Friday afternoon and it was like it was a weekend visit - it was soooo busy! Suffice it to say, I won't be going there on a weekend between now and christmas! Not sure I can face Oxford either, but I am hopelessly unprepared for christmas...

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 07/12/2011 19:22

one word: Amazon.
Did some xmas shopping from my sofa today! :)

Good to see you ghost - was worried you'd actually turned into a ghost and vanished!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 08/12/2011 20:16

Ooh we have an Amazon prime trial so I'm doing a bit of armchair shopping too!

Just went in to Oxford for a couple of hours, am sooo tired now, but managed to buy a few presents too. Also ventured into primark and acquired a cheapo button down nightie for the birth... Tick!

PenguinArmy · 11/12/2011 20:40

well it turns out the xmas market is right next to the car park, so that's where I'm heading to tomorrow...finally

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 11/12/2011 20:58

Only one nightie? I feel so extravagant now - I bought 3!

PenguinArmy · 12/12/2011 19:06

we made it in, didn't stay for long though. Contemplated trying a dress on, but DD was shouting 'pooo's' and knew DS would be due a feed. Shops should do a free creche for toddlers. I had no idea the castle was just next door to the shopping centre Xmas Blush

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 14/12/2011 10:07

Just the one, though I have a nicer enormous one from elsewhere for afterwards. I have a feeling I'll be all exhibitionist and nekkid anyway, especially if hospitals are kept as warm as I've heard.

I have a visit to The Spires on Christmas eve at 8.30pm! Hope it isn't bad weather - it'll be hard work turfing out at that time on Christmas eve anyway, especially with in laws staying! I'm determined that this will be the one MW appt that DH will attend Grin

Penguin, sounds like a lovely visit to the market! I haven't braved it yet but I do need to pick up some stocking fillers...

By the way, has anyone else been in Barefoot Books in Summertown? It's new, right? It seems to be a kid's bookshop with a kid friendly cafe plus ante and post natal yoga, baby massage, and kiddie events - my guess is I'll be spending a lot of time there Grin
