Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

hi there mildertduck and welcome to the list - congrats! You've just missed a meet up but we're hoping to meet again soon. Sorry to hear you're suffering (and you definitely don't work with me!)

Have you had your booking in appt with a midwife yet? Mine was at about 9 weeks I think. My MW was the one who started the ball rolling with the scan at the JR for me.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/09/2011 20:57

My GP organised the scan for me I think - at my first appt with her. Have you seen the GP yet?

Hope the sickness calms down soon, it's not fun I know :(
Congratulations otherwise - you'll feel happier in about, oh, 5 weeks...

Hello Mildertduck and welcome!

I met up with Makescakes today at a blossoming bumps thing in Wallingford today, it was very nice to put a face to the name and meet in person. :)

We were saying we should organise the next meet up. I think Summertown was mentioned?

ghosteditor · 25/09/2011 17:02

Summertown would be good for me! Could we meet at the end if Oct or early Nov? I have a lot going on between now and then!

Rollersara · 26/09/2011 06:33

Summertown early November works for me!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 26/09/2011 08:05

Sounds like a plan. We'll set a date and work out details closer to the time, shall we? How you're ok Moobee. I came down with a d&v bug yesterday and was worried I'd passed it to you...

Still feeling pretty rough today, but at least i've stopped puking.

Moobee · 29/09/2011 12:04

Glad you're feeling better cakes. I didn't catch any D&V thankfully! I've had a mega busy time at work. Normally it wouldn't be a problem but I think I have to allow for pregnancy a bit more now. I'm working at home to give myself a bit of a break. Midwife advised me to tale the week off, but I can cope working at home with ready access to tea! :)

ghosteditor · 30/09/2011 13:30

hello ladies!

Have just been to the GP to step up the anti-heartburn medication - it's been excruciating this week. Having a bit of a wibble though as the GP was clear to explain that the manufacturer hasn't guaranteed it safe for pregnancy - only to say that there is absolutely no evidence it's a problem. Anyway, the pills can be taken ad hoc, and you only take one a day, so I'm thinking it'll be ok. I'm going to have to take the fatal Dr Google route, aren't I?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 30/09/2011 13:32

I've found milk very helpful, I have to admit - have you tried it? OK so it has some calories, but mostly it's protein and calcium, which has to be better than untested medicine.

I'm a milk fiend and so is DH, we get through about 12 pints a week between the two of us, sometimes more.

ghosteditor · 30/09/2011 13:41

I know this makes me sound like a massive loon, but I can't drink straight milk - like physically can't take a sip. I have it in tea & coffee without much of an issue, but tend to avoid it in cereal, and I hate milkshakes too. Not sure why! I remain unconvinced that milk is very vegetarian (I won't go into detail) so I think it's a sort of mental block to do with that.

Even the horrid burning hole of acid in my chest will apparently not convince me to try it! how stoopid is that?!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 30/09/2011 14:26

sounds more vegan than vegetarian :)

Oh well - you have the info, up to you to weigh up principles vs pain!

Well, I've just got back from the NCT sale with a mountain of baby clothes. Yes, I did really need a newborn snowsuit. Most of it is pink - never thought I would be such a stereotypical mother in that respect!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 01/10/2011 17:28

Ooh - did you definitely find out you were having a girl?!

OP posts:
Rollersara · 02/10/2011 13:47

Yes! Pinktastic :)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 02/10/2011 13:58

Congratulations! Do you have a name now?

ghost did they prescribe omeprazole? I've been on it since the start of my pregnancy (and before). I think studies - albeit limited - show no effects. I'm v paranoid about things I consume, but I feel ok about that. I lowered my dose to 10mg rather than the usual 20mg, but I was on 20 to start with (when it probably matters more!)

Well done on the bargains Rollersara!

ghosteditor · 03/10/2011 12:51

Congrats and good bargain hunting rollersara!

moobee yes, that's the one, and thanks for the reassurance. Lo and behold, as soon as I had the pills available, the heartburn eased off quite a bit (yey) so as it happens I haven't taken them. V reassuring to know I have them in hand for the book fair next week though. Had to see the physio today due to rib pain but he fixed it quickly, hurray! Just need to keep doing upper back strengthening and stretching exercises.

Has been quite a stressful weekend for me with various things, and I was awake a lot last night with rib pain, so am exhausted now. To top it all off we're having mystery Internet fail at work so my increasingly crucial work is getting increasingly far behind. Am ok though, and pamplemousse has been super active (therefore reassuring) in last 24 hours, which is what counts. Smile

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/10/2011 10:12

Glad to hear you're OK ghost, albeit in pain and overloaded with work! Thanks

Ugh - why does the supermarket always seem like such a chore?

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 04/10/2011 13:10

Turns out it was all BT's fault! Still having to deal with the fault out, and we have 24 hours worth of missing email which is frankly horrifying.

Am pretty stressed re work but coping and trying to let it wash over me for the baby's sake. Have finished all the crucial stuff, so it'll all be ok next week, whatever happens!

ghosteditor · 04/10/2011 13:11

I mean fall out! And thank you for the flowers, much appreciated Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/10/2011 13:52

No worried - you can have some of my Lindt milk chocolate with flaked almonds if you want - this is a high honour, just FYI! :)

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/10/2011 13:53

No worries, even - look - typos are catching!

Om nom nom Grin

Moobee · 07/10/2011 15:03

Ghost I hope your rib pain is better - that sounds really unpleasant. I hope the indigestion is being held at bay too. Pre-pregnancy I used to get acid going into my lungs and causing asthma symptoms and a constant cough. It was only diagnosed when I also got the sensation of a permanent lump in my throat. Since the tablets, I've not had any problems at all, so they work amazingly well.

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and has relaxing weekends!

x

ghosteditor · 07/10/2011 15:13

thanks moobee - both rib pain and heart burn have been loads better this week, thankfully! Must be something to do with all the stress hormones whizzing around at work Grin

Hope you're keeping well too!
