Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

I've offered to help so I get first dibs :) We are acquiring some stuff already but no baby clothes or nursery furniture yet so will be looking for that!

ghosteditor · 13/09/2011 22:12

Helping out is a good idea. I decided against it as October Iis a bug month for me at work and I'll be a bundle of stress by then. I should probably come up with a wish list and a budget so I don't get carried away; I guess a few clothes would be good plus any nursery stuff. Am still a bit hazy on the finer details (i.e. stuff pamplemousse will actually need)as am still blinded by pram-porn...

ghosteditor · 13/09/2011 22:13

'is a big month' !

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/09/2011 08:32

I feel like we've got most of the major stuff, except pram and car seat, which are waiting on the grandparents' pleasure. Correct me if I've forgotten anything, but:

  • Bed
  • Bedding
  • Teeny clothes inc lots of warm things like hats
  • Cuddly toy
  • Bath
  • Bouncer
  • Towels
  • Toiletries
  • Flannels
  • Nappies
  • (Wipes)
  • Cotton wool
  • (buggy/pram)
  • (carseat)
  • (sling - a friend said she'll lend me one for the first couple of months and see if I like it)
  • Changing mat
  • (changing bag)
  • (monitor)
  • (mobile)

Which reminds me - I need to ring Boots parenting club and complain about my lack of vouchers!

Dozeyland · 14/09/2011 13:20

22yrs old, got an amazing dp, and our heavenly DD who is 10.5months...

literally said last month we'd like another, and BANG - here is the BFP! :O

So I will be pregnant for my birthday once again!!

ghosteditor · 14/09/2011 14:24

Hi Dozeyland - congratulations and welcome to the (admittedly quite small at the moment) list! So, two under two hey? Exciting and scary at the same time I should imagine!

Whereabouts in Oxford are you? Incidentally we're meeting up in Didcot this Sunday from 2-4 if you'd like to pop along.

Dozeyland · 14/09/2011 14:28

I'm in Central Oxford, sadly i wont be able to make it as i am at a baby group!

2 under 2 - fun fun fun!!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 14/09/2011 14:29

Brave woman! I'm struggling to imagine coping with just one!

Rollersara · 14/09/2011 21:37

Hello, and congratulations Dozeyland :)

Dozeyland · 15/09/2011 10:07

Thank you :)

Moobee · 16/09/2011 17:08

Hello Dozeyland, welcome!

Wow, you're all organised! I have a couple of t-shirts so far - one with a whale on, one with a bear on. I probably should buy some more things...

Hope you all have fun tomorrow, so gutted I can't make it. :(

Rollersara · 17/09/2011 13:30

Are we all still on for tomorrow? I was feeling disorganised so did a quick shopping list and now have 4 baby gros, mitts, bib, socks and tiny little hats. Oh and a "luxury swaddle towel"!

ghosteditor · 17/09/2011 19:59

Yep! 2pm in didcot. I'll be there!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 18/09/2011 03:43

Ditto. Look for the bump! I'll probably be knitting, too...

In case either of you check this before you go, I have a Davina pregnancy DVD that I can't use, and a spare gym ball if either of you would like them?! I'll bring them anyway!

ghosteditor · 18/09/2011 19:17

Was lovely to meet youboth and thanks again for the dvd rollersara! We'll have to arrange another meet up soon so that moobee can come along Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 18/09/2011 19:49

Lovely to meet you - you know a meet up goes well when it runs for twice as long as the projected time and there are no silences at all - never mind an awkward one! Looking forward to the next meet - we'll organise it soon :)

OP posts:
Rollersara · 18/09/2011 21:31

Yes, was lovely! Hope the DVD and gym ball are both useful!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/09/2011 07:55

Thank you so much for the balance ball - will get DH to inflate it this evening :)

Just in case you're about this weekend, there's an NCT sale in Wantage on Saturday, according to a poster at work!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 21/09/2011 07:47

Thanks for the heads up, but I'm doing my cheerleader impression for DH in Dorset this weekend :-)

ghosteditor · 21/09/2011 11:50

thanks for the news about the Wantage NCT - I have plans this weekend so can't make it unfortunately. Are you going along? Hope you get some good deals! If by any chance you stumble across a copy of Ina May Gaskin's book I'd love to get my hands on a copy...

I should really check out the library I guess! By the way, in case it's interesting for anyone, my yoga instructor has a list of recommended reading, mostly around active birth, but also just sensible books about birth options, which you can see here.

mildertduck · 21/09/2011 12:54

Hello! I live and work in Oxford and am currently 7+3 - baby due 7th May 2012. Currently battling awful 'morning' sickness - on the off-chance that I work with any of you I am terribly sorry for my noisy vomming...

Will be nice to meet some people from round here! :) Anyone know when I can expect to get my scan date letter from the JR?
