Hi... so just been confirmed I'm due 10th (ish) of January and would love to get chatting to some others in the same area who are also expecting... As I said In the title that includes those of you due late 2011, as well - it's a very inclusive thread - as long as you'd be able to make some meet ups in Oxfordshire and you're going through some stage of reproduction then you'd be welcome :-)

I know there's at least one more of you out there (ghost - you there?)

Stats time:

MakesCakesWhenStressed - expecting #1 EDD 10 Jan 2012

I'm still keen for the 18th but with the proviso that I may need to bow out at the last minute - dithering mother can't decide whether she and my grandparents will visit that weekend Angry. I'm happy for them to come down (and indeed they may want to set off home after lunch on Sunday so I could still come along) but she just won't bloody well decide! She has a bit of a problem with this due to a chronic illness, but she's not suffering that badly these days so I can't decide whether I'm just taking her illness into account like a considerate daughter or mollycoddling the behaviour...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 26/08/2011 09:55

I'm definitely on for the 18th - I'm being abandoned by my Dh for the day anyway so it'd be nice to do something social. The Cornerstone in Didcot has a nice cafe downstairs, is easily walkable from the Orchard Centre carpark and there's some on-street parking for those who need a shorter walk (Blue badge rules here!)
What do you think?
And what time suits people best - am/pm? The Cornerstone is open 11am-4pm on Sundays if that helps.

ghosteditor · 26/08/2011 11:30

do you think we could do PM? That way I still have a chance of making it if the family descends on my house that weekend. The cafe looks lovely and 2pm might be good?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 27/08/2011 20:46

2pm sounds like a plan, then we only have 2 hours to get through if there's loads of awkward silences!

Moobee · 27/08/2011 21:34

Ahhh, I'm so so sorry, I think I'm going to blame pregnancy brain for this...

I was in a cafe this morning telling my husband that I'd be meeting you all on the 18th when he asked if I'd forgotten I was going to Geneva with work. I had. :(

I'm really sorry - I have to meet with lots of people and it's the only time they could make before I have to stop travelling. I'm gutted, I was looking forward to it! I'll definitely be there the next time. :( Bum.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 30/08/2011 13:22

lol - no worries - there's still a good 20 weeks of pregnancy left to run! Besides, you and I will probably meet at the Blossoming Bumps at some point, no?

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 30/08/2011 21:54

oh, that's a shame, but no worries, there's lots to remember!

Rollersara · 31/08/2011 17:40

2pm works for me, sorry to hear you won't be there moobee!

Moobee · 03/09/2011 10:16

Hi all,

makescakes, yes blossoming bumps sometime would be good. Also, if you're ever in the area at Tesco or Sainsburys, feel free to get in touch for a coffee! I love your scan photo, very cute! On our 12 week scan photo Apple has their fist with a downward thumb. It looks like "boo to scans!"

ghost and sara yes I'm a bit gutted, but I'm sure there'll be other meet ups. Ghost, we're going to the same physio thing at the JR aren't we?

Anyway, I hope you're all well, work has been hectic (I'm having to apply to my own job) and I'm coming down with a cold so I'm feeling sorry for myself.

ghosteditor · 03/09/2011 22:31

yep, I am booked in for the physio thing, though will have to miss a meeting at work (I'd rather do the physio I think - and if it helps me avoid pain/injury in the long run then I think they have to be happy about it too).

I just spent all day at my hockey club as we were having our club day. Was very sad not to be playing as we have two new pitches, picnic tables, an outdoor kiosk, and a barbecue all set up! Was fully awesome, except that I couldn't play. On the plus side, caught up with loads of people I haven't seen all summer and they did Shock face at the size of my bump Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 07/09/2011 09:07

Looking forward to the first blossoming bumps meeting on saturday. Dh has said we can go even though his awful family are coming for lunch that day. Something to look forward to, anyway! Are you and your dh going, Moobee?

Moobee · 08/09/2011 09:21

Hi makescakes yes I'm about 95% I'll be there! My husband may have a work thing so I'm not sure about him but yes, I'm looking forward to it. See you there! :)

ghosteditor · 09/09/2011 09:38

hope it goes well ladies! I'm still on for a meet up the weekend after.

cakes, how was your trip with DH? Sounds like it was good for both of you to get away a bit.

I don't know about you ladies but I am sooo tired and emotional at the moment. If I'm woken up in the night, I don't seem to be able to get back to sleep for ages, which is unlike me. I think it's because I'm not getting enough real exercise so I'm not tiring myself out like usual. Must find something cardio I can do!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/09/2011 11:59

ghost I was finding it hard to get back to sleep too and I was doing the same amount of exercise as usual, I think it might be a weird hormonal side effect. Luckily it seems to have eased off now and I'm sleeping a bit better, though not as deeply as usual.

The trip was wonderful, but i'm so disappointed my time with DH is over now - no more annual leave until Christmas/paternity leave. bah.

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 09:33

you're probably right about the weird hormonal sleep thing, cakes.

How are you doing at the moment? 22 weeks and kicking here Grin - any new developments with your 22-weeker?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 09:37

Nothing new here - lots of jumping, rolling and kicking - it still responds with a kick when we poke my stomach. I have to admit - I am loving this bit of pregnancy, very special and exciting. Dh reckons it suits me, too, which is nice :)

Gah - trying to type with a wriggly cat on my (ever-decreasing) lap. How's your cat situation now ghost?

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 12/09/2011 10:01

how do you resist poking your stomach all the time??

feline has actually been home several times this weekend and even ate food from her bowl - hopefully that means people are taking notice of the collar and kicking her out. Definitely good to know she can't get into next-door-but-one's house anymore. Other feline is being super cute in any case, though she climbed into the crib last night for a cheeky sleep, so I removed her sharpish. If she makes a habit of it I'll have to scare her out of it which makes me feel like a mean person...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 10:14

Well, it generally only works if it's already in a lively mood, though sometimes I can stir it to action with a well placed prod! (Jeez, it was hard to avoid personal pronouns there!)

Oh yes, our two are fascinated by the crib, though there was a highly amusing swinging factor to take into account. I used the jellycat toy to scare the cat out with a big roar - I don't want them to start thinking it's a lovely new bed for them!

just bumping the list in case there are any lurkers/newbies around who would like to join - all those near Oxford expecting babies in 2012 are welcome!

Rollersara · 12/09/2011 17:53

Hello! Glad to hear things are going well for you both. Am 18 weeks now but still not felt baby kick :(. Currently getting ready for my first pregnancy yoga class, quite excited!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 12/09/2011 18:41

I'm looking for a pregnancy yoga class near me - haven't found one yet :-(

And don;t worry about baba not kicking you yet, I was nearer 19 weeks before I felt it properly I think

Rollersara · 13/09/2011 07:09

This one was in Marsden, and it was very good, have booked a one to one session with the teacher to get some extra tips.

By the way there is an NCT sale in Oxford on Saturday 1 October, anyone else interested in going?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/09/2011 08:48

I was thinking of going to the Wallingford one which isn't until November I think... might look into the Oxford one - then we get two shots at picking up some good bits! We've got quite a lots of stuff sorted already though, tbh...

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 13/09/2011 14:28

yes! I'm going to the Oxford one and maybe the Witney one.

[looks suspiciously around]... don't advertise it though, we don't want competition... and be advised that I will trample you if you get in between me and the much desired second hand baby bath/tiny cute clothing/other random crap which my pg-brain is telling me is essential Grin

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/09/2011 14:30

I was hoping for maternity clothing, so will let you have first dibs on the baby stuff ghost! Mind you, I did fall for a cute little babygro in a charity shop today for £1.25. Still cheap, I know, but not that cheap for a chairty shop. I blame the pregnancy brain. It has a cute little boat on it though...
