now 37+6 and had DS at 36 weeks so feel like it could be any time now really. Midwife said baby was 2/5ths engaged today but also that that didn't really mean much in a second baby. Got a scan tomorrow and will be keen to see what weight they estimate.
Veering between excitement and total terror (childbirth again, having 2 kids, newborn sleepless nights etc) but also quite keen to get pg over with as have been really sick and now just feel like a beached whale with swollen feet and fange and heartburn.
Been hoovering and making DH put up shelves this morning, so maybe that's a sign??? This is all new territory for me as DS came as quite (an early) shock, not used to waiting for it to happen. Will probably go overdue now Hmm

Hi :) I'm 37+5 and in the same boat. I feel ready to pop and I've had a sense all along that it might come early. Its my first so I don't have anything to compare it to but things seem like they're moving. Baby is engaged (and feels like it's about to fall out) and I had bloody show on saturday and sunday. Light contractions all saturday night but sunday morning things just stopped and no movement yet! I know I still might have a few weeks to go but I thought the show meant things were supposed to start happening and now I'm impatient!

nancerama · 09/05/2011 14:55

I'm due tomorrow, but so far, no signs of movement. Am being driven totally mental by the constant calls, texts, emails, facebook messages asking if anything was happening yet. I wish people would leave me alone to nest in peace.

pinkgirlythoughts · 09/05/2011 15:03

I'm 39 weeks today, but I've had a feeling for ages that baby would be a bit early- I think I've woken up every morning for the last two weeks thinking "today's the day, I've got a feeling, I can just tell!" Also had a show 10 days ago now, lots of Braxton Hicks, and period pains every day, but still nothing doing. I'm getting fed up of waiting now!

Also doesn't help that several other people I know who were pregnant at the same time as me have all had their babies now, so I'm completely Envy as well as impatient!

pipoca · 09/05/2011 15:36

I haven't had a show or any pains or anything at all, purely basing my feelings of "any moment now" on the fact that DS was early. Doesn't mean anything tho, could go overdue this time. No period pains or anything, altho baby feels much lower down than before (meaning I need a wee about every 20 mins Smile)

I'm 39 weeks today as well with my first - but absolutely no sign of the baby wanting out yet at all, sigh. I had a Drs appointment on Wednesday and was told that the baby hadn't engaged at all, and that my cervix was still the same (no sign of ripening or anything). I'm in Germany so they check this every time. I know that it's possible that things have changed since that last check up - but the bump still looks as high as ever. I thought that 1st babies were supposed to engage early?!

hmmmum · 09/05/2011 16:46

I'm ready to pop! FloralOne, I'm 38 weeks and I don't think my (1st) baby is engaged yet either.. Apparently not all of them engage before labour although most of them do (Actually I started a thread on mumsnet asking about this a wee while back :) )
I've not really had any signs at all of anything happening... no BHs, no nothing. So excited to meet her, I hope time passes quickly til she pops out!!

Caz10 · 09/05/2011 16:49

38 weeks here! Also been told that baby's head is quite far down, but I'm aware that isn't always an indicator. DD was 3 days early so that would give me another week or so, that would be fine tbh! Just finished work, would like some "time off"!!

growing3rdbump · 09/05/2011 19:56

39 weeks today with DC3! Also had the bloody show last week and strong BH throughout the days, but mostly in the evening. With the first two births labour was really quick and there was no messing about with all these BHs beforehand!

DC1 was born at 38 weeks exactly and DC2 was 39 weeks exactly, so it feels a bit wrong that she's still not here!!!

DC2's birthday is on Wednesday, and although I managed to get through the party successfully I'm really worried he may be about to share his birthday Confused!!!

tigerbear · 09/05/2011 20:01

Yep, due on Thursday with first baby. No sign that she's ready to come out- have been drinking loads of raspberry leaf tea to no avail!

Zimbah · 09/05/2011 20:02

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow, feeling very very impatient. DD1 came at 38+4 so I expected to be done by now!

Vakant · 09/05/2011 21:20

I'm due tomorrow too, and no sign yet, a few more braxton hicks than normal though.

pipoca · 09/05/2011 21:28

I've got raspberry leaf tea but haven't drunk any so far as didn't want to go as early as with DS (36 weeks) also, doesn't it make labour faster? DS was so fast I nearly didn't make it to hospital, don't want this one born in the car!

argylesocks · 10/05/2011 09:06

Apparently impatience was unnecessary because things are definitely happening. My water broke at 1:45am last night... got checked out at hospital and sent home. Now I'm just waiting for contractions to start otherwise they induce me on Thursday! Good luck everyone :)

pipoca · 10/05/2011 10:29

hoorah! hope all goes well!

pipoca · 10/05/2011 12:04

just had final scan (I'm in Spain and they do one around 37-39 weeks) and baby weighs 3.2kg and I've been dated to 37 weeks but doctor reckons I could go any time now!!

violetwellies · 10/05/2011 12:24

Edd 25th but booked in for section next week. I'm actually quite enjoying having baby on the inside :) despite struggling with complex manoeuvres like tying shoe laces and putting socks on :)

lilly13 · 10/05/2011 12:53

i am 39 weeks, pg with my 1st, and the head is engaged, but no signs of pains, show or braxton hicks so far... i keep swimming and walking. hope the baby comes out soon.... however, looks like it is going to be a while...

pipoca, raspberry leaf tea does not cause contractions -- it only helps expedite the 2nd (pushing) stage of labour, according to research... EPO helps soften the cervix...

good luck, everyone!

Caz10 · 10/05/2011 13:06

Clary sage oil in the bath got my contractions started last time! No other signs before hand, and was literally stepping out getting dried when the pains started! Not going down that route for at least another week though!

Good luck argylesocks!

Thornykate · 10/05/2011 13:27

Ooh caz pls tell me more about this clary sage oil?

I am 37+5 with 4th DC & I am not huge so don't feel as desperate to give birth as I did with DCs 1&2 but am still keen to get it over with for practical reasons.

I had contractions at 35 wk which stopped but nothing since. I have a sneaky feeling that baby is waiting until I am fully organised so I need to get off MN & get the laundry mountain sorted!

Good luck to those that know they are starting labour soon Grin

juneau · 10/05/2011 13:40

39+1 here and no signs of anything happening at all! DS1 arrived at 39+3, but that was in the US where they give internal exams and my doc gave me a sweep that morning to get things going - which it did. Ho hum. Family keep ringing to see if there's any news and I keep telling them I'll call them when there is. I keep doing a 'final shop' to stock up on stuff and then we eat/use it all and I have to go again. Sod's Law dictates that I'll finally go into labour when I least expect it and the cupboards and fridge are bare!

pinkgirlythoughts · 10/05/2011 13:49

Ditto the 'final shop,' also the 'final house clean.' Our house is quite small, so can be cleaned top to bottom in one go, floors hoovered/ swept and mopped, bins emptied, everything put away etc. Done that about three times now!

tigerbear · 10/05/2011 16:27

Oh yes, can completely relate to the 'final shop' :) Am frantically buying rice, pasta, noodles, jars of pasta sauce, etc. DH gets very put out, saying 'I'm more than capable of shopping and cooking you know'. To be fair, he IS more than capable and the shops are only 5 min walk, so I'm not sure why I'm going mental buying so much stuff!

Off to buy clary sage oil...

Vakant · 11/05/2011 11:59

I had a sweep this morning but midwife didn't think it would work, she said I was long posterior but managed to get a finger tip in. Anyone know what this means?

pipoca · 11/05/2011 12:02

yes, have had "final" scan "final" mw appt, having "final" bloods taken Friday. All feels like I'm just sitting waiting for something to happen now. Not organised enough to do much "final" cleaning or shopping. I am a slattern. Not much of a nesting instinct. Would quite like to build a wee nest and climb into it and go to sleep for about a week, does that count as nesting instinct?

Junebugjr · 11/05/2011 13:47

39 weeks tomorrow with DD2 and have been counting down the days since week 34. Second time round has been so much more uncomfortable, with the insomnia, back ache and running round after a toddler, Im sooooo fed up. I feel like i need a holiday after this pregnancy, not a toddler and baby to look after with minimal sleep!

Nesting instinct has hit though, so the house is as clean and organised as its going to get, have bossed DP around so much the last few days about doing things around the house, hes dying to get back to work tomorrow!

Anyone else attempting a VBAC? I have a final consultants appointment on monday, to see if the baby has continued to grow at the rate it has, and if its got into a better position. Seeing as they estimated a head/abdomen/weight range of off the scales, Im not sure id be too upset now if they scheduled a section instead of waiting for my VBAC.
