anyone take ages to get a positive result after missed period?

hi all. Just wondering if anyone was getting negative tests a few days after missed period but went on to get a positive result. Trying to be optimistic!

Yes - i did! Took a test on the Tuesday evening - missed period by about a week and was having unusal, mild cramping pains. By the Sunday evening, i was still getting the pains and was beginning to get slightly concerned as i had never experienced these cramps before. So i took the 2nd test in the kit, left it on the side (almost forgot to check it as i believed i wasn't pregnant!) and, what do you know...positive!

That said, i've no idea how often it happens, but i had a positive test 5 days after a negative one. DC born 8 months later!!

I have had this with both of my babies. Took 5 days after my period was due with first one. With second one I had a 3 day bleed so assumed not pregnant, then bled again 10 days later thought it was strange and did a test. I am now 18 weeks pregnant.

af due cycle day 27, now cycle day 30. Had the odd wave of feeling bit dizzy and felt sick once last week but not much. Have now got sore nipples which i never have. Dont know what to think really. Have had several negative tests. I guess its just wait and see...

Me me! With all 3 pregnancies (currently 20 wks with DC3) I have been convinced I'm pregnant, taken a test around the time my period should have been due, and got a negative result. Left it for a week, thought 'where the hell is my period??' taken another test and lo and behold a positive! Don't give up hope yet! Fingers crossed you get the result you want x

i dont want to delude myself, but equally its nice to have hope. had to get up to pee in the night last night, unusual for me, hope its a sign

Just had a +ve result after period being 10 days overdue and 3 previous negatives.
Had sore boobs, nausea every evening, tiredness and mild cramps but still was getting -ves so was starting to think something wrong.
Did another test last night as had friends over and wanted to know if i could have a glass of wine, though didn't really fancy one and lo behold a +ve!
Checked again this morning and another +ve.

So happy but puzzled as previous pregnancies showed up straight away, but did have chest and throat infection when i thought i was ovulating so guess it delayed things.

I was 8 days late before I got a +, after 5 negatives. I'm now 9 weeks.

I did, my old GP did a test after I missed a period whilst on the pill (never happened before!) & said something along the lines of "no, there's no way you're pregnant, it must just be stress" (we had recently had a family bereavement). Shrugged it off then 4 weeks later no AF & constant nausea, did a test & sure enough - 8 weeks pregnant! Good luck! :)

I had this - AF was due on the Sunday and I didn't get a positive test until the Wednesday. I felt tired, dizzy and 'different' but nothing came up on the test - even First Response.

I'm 17 weeks now. Fingers crossed for you!

Yeah, this happened to me. I mentioned it to my midwife and she said it's best to do a test with your first wee of the day when it's nice and concentrated.

I got a negative on the day AF was due and didn't get a positive until nearly a week later with DS1, the 12 week scan adjusted my due date by nearly a week though so I guess I ovulated very late that month.
Are your periods normally regular?

:) yep, total singing ban at my house now!
ive had two periods off the pill and both have been spot on regular- spotting day 27 and period day 28. always was regular as clockwork before too.

i do hope that im telling my story on one of these thread in a couple of years. However i will be gracious and accept AF if she comes as this is only my first month ttc x

I knew before my period was due that I was pregnant,as the feelings were so familiar (I mc 2 months before). Tests came up negative for 2 weeks.
I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant.
Trust your instincts & don't overindulge in any of the things such as alcohol,soft cheeses etc just in case.

It's very frustrating isn't it dreaming why can't things happen how we need them too?

6 days late, bfn. ??!!??!!

Dont worry i was 6 days late too. I keot getting BFN's and was wondering what the hell was going on.. Then on day 7 I tested first thing in the morning and got a VERY faint line.
I am now 30 weeks pg

I tested negative twice after a missed period - tested on day six and seven - nothing. Had pretty much convinced myself I wasn't but I bought an 'expensive' clear blue test to try on day nine just in case and got a BFP.
