Did you get the linea nigra (dark line down belly)? What sex was your baby?

Had linea nigra from fairly early on with both DS1 and DS2. Now 31 wks pregnant with DC3 (don't know sex) and no sign of it. Just wondering if anyone else had it with one pregnancy and not another?

I had one with my boys.........but not dd!!!!

Are you hoping??? Girls are much more demanding Grin, and all the pink and sparkliness costs a fortune Grin.

That's very interesting, harassed! Really don't mind what the sex is. I think of the baby as a boy to be honest, as I'm used to boys! I quite like the idea of a brood of boys - makes things easy as they will (more or less) like similar things and can pass down clothes and toys easily. A girl would give me a bit of a shock, but of course would be lovely too. It just suddenly occurred to me that I haven't got that dark line, and seems strange - wondered if it might be a hormonal thing. Was much much sicker with this pg than previous ones too. But who knows...

I have it all the way down from the top to the bottom of my bump and am having a girl.

GoodVibrations · 05/05/2011 14:51

Hmmmm, had no linea nigra last time (girl), have got one this time (sex unknown as yet!). I'm 37 weeks.

HappyAsASandboy · 05/05/2011 17:37

yama · 05/05/2011 17:38

Didn't have it with dd but did with ds.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 05/05/2011 17:44

Had it with DS1, can't recall with DS2. (It was a long time ago, that's my excuse!)

harassedinherpants · 05/05/2011 18:02

Wolf I was also really sick with dd and not with the boys. Mw said it was to do with different hormones that body wasn't used to.

Tbh I was petrified about having a girl!

stuffedmk · 06/05/2011 10:36

I have 2 boys, didn't have it with DS1 did with DS2 so I don't think it means anything.

munstersmum · 06/05/2011 10:39

No. Boy.

Bunnyjo · 06/05/2011 13:15

Didn't have one with DD and don't have one now - currently 37+5 with DS.

Mum2Pea · 06/05/2011 15:33

had one last time (girl), have got one this time (sex unknown as yet!).
I'm 35 weeks.

wubblybubbly · 06/05/2011 15:37

No and had a DS. My friend did and had a DD.

MissMarjoribanks · 06/05/2011 15:41

I still have mine, 17 months after giving birth (it's faded a bit)... I had a boy.

sharbie · 06/05/2011 15:44

didn't have one either time - one dd and one ds

nannyl · 06/05/2011 15:46

am only 22 weeks but no line yet

have been bio-oiling twice daily since about 14 weeks though... not sure if that makes a difference?

Pinkjenny · 06/05/2011 15:46

Didn't get it in either of my pgs, and I did feel a bit cheated! One dd and one ds.

CBear6 · 06/05/2011 16:26

I didn't have it last time with DS, I'm now 22 weeks with DD and haven't got one either. Funny you mention sickness ... With DS I just felt sick, with this pregnancy I spent 12 weeks throwing up and it's made a reappearance this last week, its probably unrelated but my mum told me she was always sicker with me than my brothers.

BalloonSlayer · 06/05/2011 16:32

God I can't bloody well remember about the first two (boy/girl) but had it with the 3rd, which was a boy.

I thought whether you got it or not was more due to how much pigment you have in your body - the darker skinned you are the more likely you are to get one.
