I waited until after my 20 week scan, just to be on the safe side.
Maybe stick to something smaller like a cute outfit or something for now, but def. start looking for the pram you like and going and trying them out etc so you're sure when you get to buying it :)

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 03/05/2011 19:58

I am, erm, 6 weeks, and stalking pushchairs on ebay.

But that's because I want DD to use it first (old one is knackered) Can you use that excuse too?

lolajane2009 · 03/05/2011 20:01

I bought small stuff from 12 weeks but in laws are buying pram around 28 weeks so not really shopping for one but looked at them ever since I found out.

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 03/05/2011 20:03

I think I bought DDs pushchair at 28ish weeks, because the january sales were then.

It is lovely to have the baby stuff in the house though.

Bearslikehoneyintheirtummy · 03/05/2011 20:04

I could LaWeasel!! Its always good for pram to have a test drive!

Definately important to know it can handle the weight of a toddler WinkGrin

5GoMadOnAZ650 · 03/05/2011 20:09

My mum bought my first pram for dd1 before I'd even had my first scan Blush I've been a pramoholic ever since!

Bearslikehoneyintheirtummy · 03/05/2011 20:10

but then it might get worn out and I will probably end up buying another one for the baby!! :) :(
Maybe I should buy something smaller for now............

Some of them are so nice, love looking for bargains too. I am not going in for an expensive one but you can get some nice looking ones for under £200 :)

I'm 17 weeks and last weekend we found the pram that we wanted, we're going to get it in a couple of weeks. I absolutely don't think that it is bonkers early to get one - if it makes you happy then go for it! :)

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 03/05/2011 20:13

Which ones are you looking at?

DD had a silvercross pop which was fabulous until it had a slight getting run over incident.

I'm looking at a second hand bugaboo bee to replace it.

Bearslikehoneyintheirtummy · 03/05/2011 20:26

I'm looking at so may weasel, havent yet chosen one specifically.
DD will be 2 yrs when this one comes and I have considered a double but have let go of the idea as I live ina busy area and use buses (London packed ones!)So I have decided to probably get a pram/pushchair and get a buggy board and if DD gets really tired I will put the baby in a sling and let DD go in for a bit! Thanks vhappy and 5gomad that makes me feel more sane!

Bears - I'm thinking the same as you for baby 2 - glad you don't think it's mad to have just one buggy with a 2year old. London really isn't the place fir double buggies! Have fun shopping around and maybe buy a bit later, you might be bored with it by the time the baby comes! Enjoy.

naturalbaby · 03/05/2011 20:39

i could buy a new buggy every few months! i got a silver cross dazzle stroller fairly early on in my pregnancy cause i'd wanted one for aaaages and had 2 toddlers to test it out a bit before baby arrived!

Kaybump · 03/05/2011 20:42

Im only 11 weeks and brought my pushchair and car seat yesterday- because there was a sale on and I had the money, and I go on holiday next week so when I get back I need to pay off my credit card before baby is born in Nov! SO many excuses lol but I just like to be organised! but it wont be delivered for another month so I felt a bit better!

Bearslikehoneyintheirtummy · 03/05/2011 20:48

I lovejack I agree, could be a nightmare with a double buggy using the tube/bus, but DD walks quite a lot now already at 18 months so am sure she will survive! Natural did you use it for the new baby too or did you get bored f it?!
I guess it means that you can spread out the cost as well for us earlybirds!
Have a nice holiday kaybump!

Kay.....where's the sale?! :)

LaWeaselIsOupaLaDouffe · 03/05/2011 20:51

I think most people using public transport end up with phil and teds don't they?

DD was a very late walker so even though she will be nearly 3 when junior arrives it is in the back of my mind that we might end up with a double too... [sigh]

Kaybump · 03/05/2011 20:54

mothercare 10% off and then when you join baby club you get more discounts with ordering online etc, so I think mine should have cost for carseat and pushchair with all attatchments etc £370 I got for £300 including delivery etc. So I was quite happy with that!

WaspsAnkles · 04/05/2011 08:25

Bought our carseat at 10 weeks as there was a closing down sale near by and couldn't resist.now at 22 weeks am panicking about not having decided and bought pram yet.takes me a long time to make up my mind though so thought I better start early.also just love going round the shops and trying things out.actually, maybe I should have an outing today :)

midori1999 · 04/05/2011 10:22

It's entirely up to you when you buy things.

We bought our pram at around 20 weeks, having lost twins at 24 weeks last year. The fabric/colour we wanted was being discontinued and so we either had to get it then or get something else and there was literally nothing else I liked. DH was a little wary of getting anything, but the way I saw it was that I spent my last pregnancy knowing (from 14 weeks) it wasn't likely to work out and so couldn't buy anything at all and I was certainly not going to spend this pregnancy worrying that something might go wrong and not buying anything. (Obviously I do worry, but I try not to let it take over) I have since gone mad with my buying and at 31 weeks now have almost everything including loads of loads of little outfits/dresses I know aren't practical and probably won't get worn many times. I still worry something will go wrong, but I can't live my life around that and it's so lovely having things for our little girl.

Bearslikehoneyintheirtummy · 04/05/2011 22:25

Sorry for your loss Midori. That must have been devasting for you.

I am contemplating now whether to get a travel system or pram/pushchair! :)

NoodieRoodie · 04/05/2011 22:38

I'm currently stalking prams on ebay, having decided what I wanted on Monday.

Am only 15 weeks though so figure I have plenty of time to bag a bargain!

midori1999 · 04/05/2011 22:42

Thankyou.

We got the Mamas and Papas Ultima, which is a 'proper' pram and a travel system, although we opted for the xcel chassis as it's all 'bouncy' and the car seat looks a bit odd perched on something so old fashioned, so I doubt we'll use it as a travel system. I do a lot of walking though, so wanted something baby could be really cosy in.
