Hi everyone

just woundering of these are prone to false positives???

me and hubby had a accident last month which resulted in me doing a test, faint positive but def there.

few days later, period arrived early.

this month i just feel pregnant so did another test and again faint but def there positive???

Um, I think you are probably pregnant.

Quite common to have a false NEGATIVE on a test, also quite common to have a couple of bleeds during early pregnancy (I did) around time of implantation etc.

Very unusual (VERY) to have a false positive. Get yerself to the docs to confirm asap.

theonlyhb2 · 30/04/2011 18:58

i agree with grumpla, but i would use the tests that say "pregnant" or "not pregnant" as there is no mistaking faint lines then. boots are good and not too expensive.

TBH, if you say to your Dr you done a test and it was positive, no matter how faint, they don't normally re-test you! I asked mine (and the nurse) to check again ans they said no need (pffft what if I was lying and just took my boyf to make it look real?! or have I been watching too much Neighbours?) its a bit of an anti-climax really and they dont offer any real support (that I or friends have found)

GilbertsGrapes · 30/04/2011 19:04

I used tescos brands with dd3 and all were faint positives - so faint I could only see when held up in to the light.

MrClaypole · 30/04/2011 19:07

I used tesco own brand tests and kept getting very very faint positives for the 2 weeks after my period was due. Got so fed up with the faintness I did the clearblue smiley face one and I was defo pg!

xkatyx · 30/04/2011 19:08

I have 3 dc alreay ine being a newborn Shock

also found that digital only showed pregnant when i had a strong line from usual tests.

I dont think the bleed was implantation never had that beforePLUS it was sooooo heavy like after you have a baby heavy (which is like my periods anyway)

omg i dont know what is going on, i will pop along to doctors though just so confussed Sad

hiya, used first response for all 3 of our dc's, trusted it everytime-also got some ebay cheapies (something silly like a fiver for about 25 tests) this time around- showed positive at same time as 1st response, both VERY faint to begin but over a few days became much darker

xkatyx · 30/04/2011 19:33

i used a first response last moth got a very faint positive there. . but then had a bleed .. very very heavy.

I just would of thought if i was pregnant i would be about 7/8 weeks line should be really dark

PoppysMom · 03/05/2011 04:05

katy could it be that the heavy bleed was a chemical pregnancy and that you had another accident?

PinkFondantFancy · 03/05/2011 07:58

I would try a different brand - Clearblue or First Response. Some brands will only ever give you a faint line, no matter how pregnant you are.

She3po · 03/05/2011 08:12

Agree tesco tests were always faint positives for me. Agree with another poster, could you have had a second accident?

buttonmoon78 · 03/05/2011 10:23

Never had a problem with Tesco myself - came up good and strong the day of my period being due.

How newborn is newborn? How long do hormones stay in your body? I've no idea - just wondering out loud!

CrapBag · 03/05/2011 10:44

My tesco tests were very faint, first response was clearer. DH actually said I was looking for something that wasn't there on the Tesco one as I had to hold it up to see it. I knew I was pregnant though. She is 12 weeks now. Smile

xkatyx · 03/05/2011 12:47

Hi sorry this is posted late, laptop hasnt been playing about.

It could well of been a chemical, it's just odd.

I had a chemical pregnancy before i got pregnant with my baby now who is 3 months Smile

Anywho have been doing random tests, all tescos .. all have lines either very fain or not that faint they go from to another!!

I have my mum coming over today and as there is no way she could be pregnant i have told her i want her to pee on one to see if its just the tests lol

If i could work out how to post a pic i would see what everyone else thinks.

I used a really cheap one from boots, but it came up very clear within about 3 seconds!

buttonmoon78 · 03/05/2011 14:04

Ha ha! I'm loving the idea of your mum being your control!

She3po · 03/05/2011 17:23

Any luck with your dms control test op?

xkatyx · 03/05/2011 18:46

Flisspaps · 03/05/2011 18:51

xkatyx If you've got so many positives, even faint ones, I would say that they're not false.

If you want to put photos on, go to My Mumsnet at the top (in the middle) and then My Photos - you can put them on there.

xkatyx · 03/05/2011 19:37

ok ladies i have posted some pics, please have a look and tell me if they are evap lines or not

OP posts:
NeverKissPigs · 03/05/2011 19:40

You need to make your profile public.

False positives are very, very rare. If a line came up in the designated time, you are pg.

Don't take apart the tests btw. Smile

xkatyx · 03/05/2011 19:43

oh i did take it apart???

OP posts:
She3po · 03/05/2011 19:58

xkatyx - that looks like two positives to me, the first response one is obvious, the tesco one looks very much like the first one I did with dd2 though a few days later it got a bit darker. How many days late are you?

NeverKissPigs · 03/05/2011 20:02

They're not designed to be taken apart. Was it positive before you dismantled it?

xkatyx · 03/05/2011 20:02

Im not actually due on till wed/thurs periods are not fully back to normal after baby yet so there between 26-28 days ish.

Do yu think they look like an evap line?

OP posts:
xkatyx · 03/05/2011 20:03

I thought i saw a line so i took it apart was a line but got darker?!
