Anyone had a sweep at 1-2 cms? What happened?

Just been given a sweep, was 1-2 cms but not yet fully effaced.

I know its pot luck, but been crampy for days and had a really uncomfy night last night with alot of niggles then this sweep today.

Just looking for stories :)

I went into labour 24 hours later

ooh thats positive, did you have pains after? or was it 24 hours then pains started?

had two sweeps about 12 hours apart, very sore cramping and extremely painful contractions directly afterwards, delivered six hours after second one, ( was still 1-2 cm after first and before second).

i went into labour straight away with DD but i was 2-3 cms then and fully effaced i think.

I went in to labour 24 hours later kept busy though asda food shopping then mothercare then home for a curry hot bath etc.

I was 3cm, a week over due, and nothing happened for another 5 days. Sorry.

I delivered 1 hour 47 minutes later!!! Now the proud mum to DS2.

Torto I too have not long returned from a MW appt and sweep.

Have you had a show yet? I haven't...curious to see other people's replies on this. Had some crampy pains since I got home but nothing regular/prolonged. About to get bouncing on my ball....

Oh, and she said I too was 1cm - Bishops score of 5? She was actually able to go through plug and touch baby's head ?

my m/w said if i was in hospital she would have broke my waters! i was 2 cm when i got to the hospital i was 7 cm and ds2 was born 3hours later good luck xxx

there was 24hrs in between the sweep and hospital x

I had one when I was 1 cm and within a few hours my waters broke, my contractions did not start for another 24 hours and went into hospital and I was 3cm and had another which ramped things up.

super crampy and got backache, trying to sleep but keep expecting something to pop so can't rest very well, going to tryagain in a min x

Good luck toto - I had 2nd sweep today and refused induction scheduled for tomorrow. Baby 3/5 and cervix is not prepared. More acupuncture tomorrow and 3rd sweep scheduled for Friday. Feeling crampy, lots of BH but no action really.

With DD I had sweep at 41 weeks and started contractions that evening.

Totoros anything happen overnight?? I went to bed feeling very uncomfortable but fell asleep and now feeling normal. Debating whether to tempt fate and head an hour away to meet MIL for a spot of shopping?? Will get train vs. driving, but sort of feel I should stay closer to home...

Got another sweep booked for tomorrow so i'm not that concerned...

40+4 now.

At 40 weeks I was 3cm and had a sweep. At 40+4 I was 3cm and soft and had a sweep. I finally went into labour at 40+8. after each sweep I had a show and cramps but nothing happened. Sorry!

Had some pains last night, not jus BHs but wheat i would describe as mild contractions.

No show. ell asleep at midnigh andwoke up fine again.

TBH a not that botred, its a lovely day, will go for a walk, maybe to the fields to kick a ball about.

I had one at 2cm - I dilated to 3 as it was happening and the cramps got much worse immediately. was back in hospital about 2 hours later and DD was born about 1 hour after that

I'm 40+6 and had a sweep last Weds. Like HipHop I have also refused induction scheduled for today.

Sorry to say I had quite a big show but nothing since. I've been crampy and having strong/painful BH's for about three weeks anyway, no noticable increase since sweep.

Was supposed to have second sweep today but M/W appt was cancelled due to sickness. Can't be seen until next week. I could stamp my feet about it I guess, but I feel ok and babe is moving well so there doesn't seem much point.

I'm 40+8 and have had two sweeps. After the first I lost my plug, but no cramps etc. Had another yesterday - cervix 2cm dilated, soft and thinning - which resulted in regular, mild-ish contractions for the following 12 hours. Woke up this morning minus contractions . Booked in for induction this Saturday...

My thoughts on sweeps and other methods of induction now are that if your baby's not ready to be born then nothing will work to speed up the process.

other sweeps worked straight away, especially with DD.

Am not desperate to get him out, am not even past due date yet, and not really expecting anything to happen soon am just excited that i know something is going on down there , it all add up in the long run :)

Just out of interest, why are you having sweeps if you're not due or over due yet?

I'm having a homebirth and been having pains alot the last few days, I'd had a urine infection and didn't know if they were labour related or due to my UTI.

I mentioned it to the midwife who said she would do an examination to see if anything was happeneing, she said I was 1-2 cms and could do a sweep if i wanted, so said yes.
