Sex. Nipple stimulation. Walking up and down stairs. Bouncing on a birthing ball.
Hot curry and red wine.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/04/2011 15:15

Orgasm! I'm 8 days over, so far, so perhaps not

lolajane2009 · 23/04/2011 15:23

TotorosOcarina · 23/04/2011 15:27

Bumped uglies last night, wasn't as bad as I expected! will have another go tonight if i can bare it,

went for a walk this morning.

I wanted a birthing ball but couldn't find one - went in about 6 shops :(

don't think i can do the curry thing - heart burn is too bad!!

Fresh pineapple

Walking up stairs sideways

Sex

(not all at once or you might drop your pineapple Grin)

TotorosOcarina · 23/04/2011 15:38

norbert you just made me snort!

can i ask a TMI question?

with the sex thing, is it the orgasm, the actual intercourse or the semen that helps?

ie, if some DIY were done would that be as effective or is it better for it to be all 3?

OP posts:
lolajane2009 · 23/04/2011 15:39

lol or slip down the stairs if you have sex on them?

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 23/04/2011 15:48

Seeing as none of it actually works, it doesn't matter if you do the whole sex thing, diy, orgasm or a blowjob. Grin I'd have a cuppa and stick my feet in the paddling pool tbh. It's as likely to get things going as doing the nasty during a heatwave.

I do sympathise. It's horrid being pregnant and hot and uncomfortable. But you're not even overdue, not even remotely. A bit like when you're exhausted with a 5wk old and thinking 'how can I stop him/her feeding constantly'. Generally there's no solution within our grasps, but we can try and change our mindsets a bit. Look after ourselves, make life easier until one day it gets better or labour starts.

I know this isn't what you want to hear though.

Evening primrose capsule up your fanjo and mumsnet cosmic ordering (I.e. A post requesting that the baby come tomorrow). Not sure which it was but one of them worked for me!

fridakahlo · 23/04/2011 15:50

This really does help as it starts softening your cervix using prostaglandins! Get some evening primrose oil capsules, about twice a day, prick them with a pin (sterile, of course!) and then insert them as you would a tampon/diaphragm/mooncup. Also try and get hold of NATURAL castor oil:
www.revital.co.uk/Pukka_Castor_Oil

It says one to two teaspoons, I think I took a tablespoon or three but that was a few days into the Evening Primrose Oil regime.
Otherwise reflexology or acupuncture might help!

I did the castor oil one when I was 2 weeks overdue and desperate. It worked, but was really, truly, awful. I would NOT do it again.

TotorosOcarina · 23/04/2011 15:59

i'm taking EPO orally and raspberry leaf tablets too.

Massage my bump with clary sage oil too.

Feel really achey in the cervix today so hopefully its doing something.

DH is on his way home with a birth ball Grin

TotorosOcarina · 23/04/2011 16:01

i don't think i'd do castor oil. seems a bit scary.

at least with the other stuff it seeems 'safe' as theres no proof it does anything, besides make me at least FEEL like i'm doing something iykwim.

Whereas castor oil can make the baby poo and cause complications

Pound of grapes.

Bumperlicioso · 23/04/2011 16:04

Up the fang TO, just do it! See here

Bumperlicioso · 23/04/2011 16:05

Damn iPhone! Up the fanjo!

galwaygal · 23/04/2011 16:13

I did the EPO vaginally too, I truely say that I think it was what finally got my last dc out. Also I think it helped soften things to stop me tearing (tore two previous births but not with that one!).

As for birthing ball - tescos exercise balls - surely your local tescos has them? If not ring around all the sports shops.

Don't try the castor oil, can cause distress in baby. Also I tried pinapple, not only did it not work but ended up with very very sore mouth for days afterwards!

So do do the EPO up the fanjo as bumperlicioso says!

galwaygal · 23/04/2011 16:17

Whoops just read that your dh is on the way home with ball - glad you got one!

holderness · 23/04/2011 16:18

iphone up the Fango?? Thought Id heard them all by now

Curry
Castor oil in orange juice
Camomile tea

have all been cited to help in various ways to bring on labour.

I think though that you will have just as much luck with cosmic ordering.

Good luck :o

thisisyesterday · 23/04/2011 16:20

agree with turtles. all you'll do is wear yourself out and make yourself uncomfortable.
there may be a good reason why you haven't gone into labour yet... perhaps baby is getting itself into a good position. trying to induce labour will mess with this natural process.

baby will come when its ready, i know it's a cliche, but just rest and relax whle you can

fridakahlo · 23/04/2011 16:32

Natural castor oil (the one in my link) is a gentler version, most people have taken the normal stuff, which is mostly for external use. I had worse after effects from the very spicy curry I ate whilst trying to DS out.
