Anyone due in July?

Hi all,

Not seen a July thread on here so I?m hoping I?m not alone. 27+3 today and so far I have bought everything I could think of! I have a scan later on this afternoon. I?m hoping all will still be ok.
I?m looking forward to giving up work for mat leave shortly. Work is really annoying the hell out of me. My male bosses are so not bothered with giving me any special treatment whatsoever so I?m still carrying a laptop bag everyday in and out of work weighing 3st And I won?t mention that I have to carry this up 25 stairs into the building everyday? Grr

Anyone else fed up and wishing bubba?s due date was here already?

firstsupermum- mmm prawns! I want prawns!
shaz- eek moving house (we just did that and with SPD, was horrible but once it's done, it's done) it's a nightmare at the best of times. Hope it goes well.
I did a very similar thing with my mat leave with DS. Was lovely.
I love Alistair!

sparklytoes · 19/04/2011 20:41

shaz, You must be of a similar mind to me - I've just booked in some annual leave so I can have some 4 day weeks - Bliss!

I'm also liking the traditional names, I like Constance (Connie) for a girl or Grace - Not sure about boys names though.
I've decided I must try and curb my sugar craving a bit, must not eat cake, must not eat cake, must not eat cake......!

ShazGJ · 19/04/2011 20:56

We liked Grace as a name but found it was pretty high up the top 10 names so thought there might be lots of girls named Grace in the same class.

Think with the move I'll just go with the flow I've always got my maternity leave to unpack and find stuff I suppose.

I am trying to eat healthier too especially after seeing that BBC 3 program about mothers to be behaving badly. Trying to eat more fruit but really wanting cake and chocolate.

sparklytoes · 19/04/2011 21:17

I saw that bbc 3 programme as well, thats why i'm trying not to eat cake! Its not working though, there is cheesecake in the fridge and it is tormenting me...

firstsupermum · 19/04/2011 22:48

hi everyone, just to ask if we will have just the 2 scans or three, i forgot about my first pregnancy, now i had a scan in12 weeks and one in 20 weeks but they didnt give any other appointment for more scans, is it just 2, or is anyone having 3.
thank you

VioletV · 20/04/2011 01:09

First, I've had about 7 scans now so I'm not exactly sure how many are the norm! I think 2 but I guess it depends if you're monitored more!

Hi ladies, I'm another one who didn't want to jump in on the original monstrous july thread!
We're having a little girl on the 27th July. I've rather optimistically pencilled in maternity leave for 38 weeks at the moment!! As I teach I really wanted to try and see the term out, and I'll prob only be about to afford to take about 6 months so really want as much time as possible the other side of the birth.
No probs so far, but is it really possible to continue working that late??!!

jenga079 · 20/04/2011 17:26

Laurie, I've done the same. Also due on the 27th & also hoping to stay until the end of term (when i'll be, um 39+2!) This is madness isn't it? Even the headteacher thinks I'm bonkers, but she's agreed to it & will get supply in if I have to leave earlier. How are you finding teaching with a bump?

ShazGJ · 20/04/2011 17:55

First - ive had 2 scans and that's it until he/she is born unless midwife has any concerns.

I originally planned to continue working until 37 weeks but have just put in for some leave so I finish on 1st June instead. Think I could have lasted if I hadn't got SPD but my job I'd mainly sitting down.

laurieleigh · 20/04/2011 19:17

Hasn't been too bad so far, most of the kids have been quite good! It normally gets easier towards the end of term when the year 11s leave so fingers crossed I'll be able to hang in there.
Nobody's said anything to me about working that late, just my thoughts - not having any problems so far, but just worried I'm gonna get massive and not be able to make it up the stairs - or fit down corridors with jostling kids!Mostly annoyed about maternity leave starting in the holidays so only get maternity pay for time we'd be off for anyway!

prolificwillybreeder · 20/04/2011 19:18

First- I've had 3 scans, one was at 6 weeks though.

I would of worked longer but SPD means I'll be on mat leave earlier I reckon.
I taught with a bump until 33 weeks last time. It wasn't too bad to be honest. Just the tiredness at the end of the day.

How is everyone today? I still want Chinese! How are we dressing our bumps for this warm weather I need a couple of dresses I think/ maxi skirt. All money money money though :(

laurieleigh · 20/04/2011 19:19

As for scans, yep, i think the norm is just one at 12 and then a 2nd at 20 weeks.
I've got to have another scan at 36 weeks as my placenta's lying low at the moment and will need CS if it hasn't shifted back up by then :(

cmm · 20/04/2011 19:33

Am due 4th July, second baby, got a lovely little girl, four years old. Really struggling with spd too so my sympathies to you girls with it too! Got some advice off here, just come on to have another look as feeling really low with the Spd. Have started some alternative therapy for it with a midwife who also works privately with Bowen technique and accupuncture. Only had one treatment though so early days. I just keep looking at little one thinking, she is so worth it (had it with her preg bit just not as bad as early as this) am 40 weeks on Monday. Also I am huge now, put on 2st already, usually a size 12 (10 in some things!) but I am so wide now!!!! Wishing the weeks on!!!! Sorry for the moans! At least the weather is good!!!!

cmm · 20/04/2011 19:41

Ooh meant to reply to some of you on other things too!!

Dressing in leggings and tops, succumbed to mothercare clothing the other week, got lovely maxi dress in animal print and two blue tunic tops for over leggings!

Lauraleigh - Also got scan for low lying placenta in three weeks too but hear that lots of them move by that scan so fingers crossed for us!

firstsupermum · 20/04/2011 21:13

hi, how are u all, thanks for the reply, i am relax now, as is just two, i was thinking i will be missing on one, everything is normal with me, the little one is very happy, he is actualy kicking right now, i am now 27weeks +, we are getting thier, its very hot and sunny, i went out today for walk with my 2yrs, but its very hot, hope everyone having a lovely time with their bump.
Smile

JumpingForJuly · 20/04/2011 21:32

I know prolificwillybreeder I?m dying to know what she?s doing in there, apart from jumping on my bladder Wink
Ahh see I convinced DP weeks ago but then talked myself out of it and then finally decided to just book it- think pregnancy has made me lose the power to make decisions!

Still no names Violet thinking something flowery like Lilly, Holly but every name I like DP hates and vice versa or we when we do both like one, we then both think of some mad reason why that name reminds of us of so and so!
I think Elle is a really gorgeous name and whatever you call her

How are everyones cravings? I can eat 2-3 packs of thos fizzy love heart sweets a day Blush.

Ohh and today, I discovered stretchmarks on the back of my bingo wings!! Didn't even know you could get them there. So jealous of those who don't seem to get any- just hoping they'll eventually fade x

jenga079 · 20/04/2011 21:44

Lol at fizzy sweets jumping I don't leave the house without a packet of sweets any more! Luckily my only other craving has been for apples (much healthier!)

Mine doesn't seem to kick much at all. A few mins before bed, a few mins around 4am and sometimes the occasional kick during the day if I have a particularly hot or cold drink. Is this normal?

Still loving all the names you've come up with...

JumpingForJuly · 20/04/2011 22:08

*Meant to say Elle is lovely name and I'm sure whatever you call her your family will love when she's here!

I know Jenga fizzy sweets are all I think about, I worry if we don't have any in and even once went out in pyjamas to the 24 hour garage for some haha!

Mines not to wriggly like you say she does move when i drink cold drinks, I speak to people who say theirs never stop moving and feel panicked but my midwife says along as you feel around 10 movements a day then not to worry.

I'm loving the name Albert, love the idea of baby Albie Smile

jenga079 · 20/04/2011 22:37

Thanks jumping, 'baby Albie' is what persuaded DP too. I want to have some other ideas in mind in case he's just not an Albert, but it's definitely the current fave.

Thank you too for the kicking reassurance. I'm going to ask my midwife when I see her next week, but the 'count the kicks' thread has been scaring me. I think maybe it's just too early for me to start counting tho.

sparklytoes · 20/04/2011 22:44

I think mine moves more when I eat something sweet - I've not usually got that much of a sweet tooth, but it is crazy at the moment - any type of sweet or cake - I don't care! Anyone else got this?

I got a bit freaked out with all the stuff in the news last week about baby movements and started to wonder if everything was ok, was thinking about monitoring more carefully, you can download charts off the internet, but wondering if this will make me feel more worried rather than less?

prolificwillybreeder · 21/04/2011 09:46

I think the same sparkly. I do try and make a mental note of movements but downloading charts etc will panic me and I would probably become obsessed!
He is quite movey at bedtime and when I wake up. I also tend to feel him when I'm sat quietly but with a 10 month old that's not too often!

Mmm fizzy sweets, I'm heading to the supermarket later anyhow and the heartburn will be totally worth it Grin
My heartburn is so annoying and random- oatabix cereal brought it on this morning!
Question of the morning- what are you going to wear in hospital? I wore a big vest last time but ended up in a hospital gown anyway! Nighties are just well not me. I'm taking a cotton dressing gown- very useful I thought.

laurieleigh · 21/04/2011 09:54

My little girlie must spend at least half the day wiggling! but about half an hour after meals, during baths and at bed time she really kicks off. We went on holiday last week and I didn't feel her moving for about 12 hours which really freaked me out - I hope she calms down once she's out! I guess some babies are just more active than others though.

As for clothes... I had a nightmare finding summery stuff. I don't want to spend 30 quid on a pair of shorts I'm only going to wear for a few months! I just sized up on a few pair of stretch shorts from Matalan in the end and 'splashed out' on a nice pair of linen shorts from Next Maternity.

ShazGJ · 21/04/2011 17:51

I got freaked out by the counting kicks thing too so downloaded a free iphone app called pregnancy tracker which has a kick counter. Put my mind at rest as when concentrating found at even quiet times baby is moving regularly. App checks for 10 movements in 2 hours, when I've tried it most it's taken is 38 mins. Mind you he/she has been more active this week than ever currently 28 + 6.

I had very sweet cravings in 2nd trimester including love hearts. Just wondering those of u craving sweet things are u having girls?

prolificwillybreeder · 21/04/2011 19:14

I'm having a boy and I craved sweet things last time with DS too. Which is odd since I am normally a savoury kinda girl. Now I'm debating if asking DP to go to Waitrose for meringue nests, raspberries and double is unreasonable?
I must have some tomorrow if not today!

Will take a look at the kick counter. He has hiccups currently!

How is everyone? Eek nearly Easter, can't believe we are nearly in May where has the last 4 months gone?

prolificwillybreeder · 21/04/2011 19:14

Double=Double cream of course!
