confused about pregnancy test

Has anyone used the ' predictor early result' pregnancy test?
im so confused by the results i don't know what to think.
i tested with this brand that says a positive result may be read up to thirty minutes. when i first looked at the result there was no line but after ten minutes a very very faint line appeared. i tested again the following morning and again after ten minutes a faint line appeared only slightly darker than the day before.
i've been researching it and can't find a lot of information on these tests only that you shouldn't read any pregnancy test after 5 minutes and anything after that could just be an evaporation line.
has anyone had any similar experiences with these tests? i don't want to get my hopes up. done enough of that the past year. thanks x

I think you should try a different test.. or maybe test again in a few days x

babylann · 23/03/2011 13:26

I don't know what to say, I've never used one of these tests so I can't picture it. It might be best to go out and buy a different kind of test. If you want a definite answer, get one of the digital ones because there's no way to get it wrong then.

Personally, if I was pushed to guess, it sounds to me as though you are getting positives.

Newmummytobe79 · 23/03/2011 13:38

Awww! Go and buy another brand now! I had a really really faint line and now I'm 17 weeks! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you :o)

I havnt had time to get another test yet. i just keep going back to look at the two previous ones every hour of the day. JUST to make sure those lines are still there. im driving myself slightly mad.
i do have tender breasts and have been a little more tired than usual but that could be due to other things too.
i will try and get out tomorrow and test using a different brand.

I would have thought that if you have had two positives then you are PG, two false positives would be very unlikly! I also would have thught as it is a chemical reaction you wouldn't get a positive result from evaporation.

lucychoobs · 23/03/2011 13:45

How i posted that twice i don't know...
new mum to be. you've no idea how big the smile is on my face hearing that your faint line was a positive. wish i could get another one right now but im at work. MEANT to be working lol. i just can't stop thinking about these dam tests x

I thought that maybe you didn't want us to say you could be pregnant, but my line (different test brand) was also very faint as I was so early in my pregnancy (I tested one day before my period was due). A few days later, I used up the second of my tests just to be sure and it was a little bit darker.

starshaker · 23/03/2011 13:58

I did a test in a public loo and it was neg. I went to my car and thought im gonna double check and yup there was a line. I did lots more tests and they always too ages to show anything. The twins are nearly 8 months old now lol

Sidge · 23/03/2011 14:00

Generally any second line is a positive regardless of how dark.

Usually they say don't rely on the result if reading it after about ten minutes,. but if the leaflet with these tests say reliable up to 30 minutes then that's what I would believe. On the 'Predictor' test website here www.predictor.eu/uk/pregnancy/faq/index.asp it says read up to 30 minutes.

Evaporation lines tend not to have any colour to them and look like a grey shadow. A line of colour, even if faint, is probably a positive.

nunnie · 23/03/2011 14:01

An evap line doesn't usually have any colour to it, it is usually grey if that helps at all. I have always had faint positives, but I only tend to do 2 tests one after the other just to be sure.

nervatious · 23/03/2011 14:06

I did several tests all neg but was convinced I was pg. Got one test out of the bin the next day and it had a v v faint line. So this test had been neg for several hours before showing a line. I think also false positives are very unusual.

lucychoobs · 23/03/2011 14:09

Im gettin bit excited. a friend who i spoke with this morning has had 3 children and never had faint line tests or anything. she thinks they could be evap lines too. the first test you can see a line but only when you look close. the second one you can see from a distance but im Not sure about the colour. its a line alright. but i don't know if i can see pink in it.
the more i talk about this the more i want to cry. been so long going through this. i need to go get another one but im scared at there being nothing to see x

I had a faint line that was so faint I had to squint to see it. 12 1/2 weeks with twins! Good luck Smile

G1nger · 23/03/2011 14:14

I used a First Response test (99% accuracy by one day before period was due). A friend used a £1 jobby from Pound World. Both worked fine ;) Best of luck, Lucy.

You could always get a digital one will say pregnant or not pregnant then you won't have the line worry.

FeralGirlCambs · 23/03/2011 14:20

Good luck, Lucy. I know exactly how you feel after 11 months of peeing on sticks and getting hopes up myself. Now 21 weeks preg... Let us know when you get another test - maybe best not to pee on it till tomorrow morning, though, if you can bear it - during the day your urine will weaken and have less of the hormone in it so you might get a false negative. Actually they have two in the pack don't they? Pee on one but don't despair if you don't see a line, and try again first thing tomorrow...

lucychoobs · 23/03/2011 14:21

Will keep you posted once i get a test. will probably be best waiting till first morning pee to test. x

Mine was so faint that both husband and I were squinting and holding it in every light possible but there was a tiny line there! I was only 4 ½ weeks gone and had to wait a week to see my doctor so I kept testing! I did a mid-day test and it was really faint but got darker in the morning. I spent A LOT that week! Good luck x

jazz412 · 23/03/2011 15:18

Ooh I love a pregnancy test thread!!

Can you take a picture and put it online so we can see??

Sounds very promising though, as you are reading it within the stated time limit!

Good luck!
