2 recent miscarriages and pregnant again, no symptons

hi all,
i've recently had two miscarriages, one at 12 weeks, one at 5 (although have a 3yr old). i am now pregnant again - about 5 weeks but really don't feel any symptons - no sore boobs, not much nausea. i felt very strong symptons with the succesful pregnancy years ago but for the miscarry ones i didn't feel much. is there any link between strong early symptons and a successful or unsuccesful pregnancy? i feel too scared to be pleased to be pregnant again, as i fear it will all end in tears. any (hopeful) advice from anyone? many thanks!

Let's definitely keep in touch. Seems there are a few of us in the same situation.
Think I'm 5 weeks today (at earliest estimation) still 2-3 on clearblue this morning but frer really dark. Still feel crazily normal. Just have the (horrible) flem at back of throat still. Veering between obsessing about it and forgetting about it as just doesn't seem real at all. Thinking of booking early scan for 6+4 days in hope that will be viable but also toying with getting in touch with EPU to see if they will scan me for reassurance. My old EPU said they would but moved away from the area recently so not sure how it all works here and going private just seems easier.
Hope everyone is having a good day as pp says day by day. Time is dragging

Hi ladies, I'm in a similar boat to a lot of the posters... 5w+5 third pregnancy after two mc since August although I do have a 17m old DD. I don't really feel pregnant though I had so many early symptoms with my one successful pregnancy. I do have sore boobs though, that's the one thing I'm hanging on to.

The fear and panic is so real though, it's awful and I'm really suffering. I have been having my Beta HCG done and the last one showed a rose but not what they wanted so I'm scared this will end in mc too. At what week are you supposed to see a 3+ on a Clear Blue digi? X I

mia2201 · 24/03/2021 19:16

evening, Ladies :) i'm 5w4d and booked an early, internal scan for next Tuesday (will be 6w 3d). My excuse being- halfway of 3rd trimester, I think I'll be going for scans every 2 weeks, to begin with. I've been having some stretching pains the last couple of days, boobs are a tad fuller but not painful, really. I'm feeling quite calm this week- thanks to threads like this, some women just go through pregnancy with fewer symptoms and we have to hang onto this knowledge.
Could you let me know how did you get about having the beta test?
I've done the clear blue this week (was over 5 weeks) and it did come up as 3+
xx
Mia

Jeds55 · 24/03/2021 20:43

@glowingtwig sorry to hear the bloods weren't the results you wanted. When will your next ones be in? Hope they're better.
Really suffering with the fear of mc here too. Would be 5 weeks max today and did clearblue but stayed at 2-3 weeks. Really want to see 3+. Just can't comprehend how I can be so symptomless when really suffered with my dd (and to a lesser extent with the mc too)

Jeds55 · 24/03/2021 20:49

@mia2201 stretching pains and fuller boobs are good news, I had some very mild cramps last few days but eased off now. Grab my boobs first thing every morning when I wake but still not fuller or sore.
I booked a private scan today too - going off my period I had to book mine for later than would have liked (short cycles) so still 2. 5 weeks to wait. I had private ones at 8, 10 and 16 with my dd, it really helped.
Glad you're feeling calmer this week, not long to wait for your scan. Got everything crossed for you.

glowingtwig · 24/03/2021 20:51

@mia2201 ask your GP for Beta HCG blood tests, they need to be done 48 hours apart and should show a 66% rise. You can only have them done quite early on but if they are going up you can be more positive about the pregnancy ongoing. Progesterone can be done too and again, a decent number is indicative of a strong pregnancy.

It has backfired on me though because I had them for reassurance and they have left me in limbo going up really well but then slowing but still going up.

@Jeds55 it's the most awful, helpless fear. I'm starting to realise that every pregnancy is just so different. I made copious notes with every pregnancy and I'm going back to and fro with them all and they are so different each one.

Jeds55 · 24/03/2021 20:58

@glowingtwig this is me too! I keep referring back to notes I made whilst pregnant with dd and with the miscarriages. Driving myself mad comparing. I've lost the pictures of my previous positive pregnancy tests which is definitely a good thing or I'd be comparing them too.

glowingtwig · 24/03/2021 21:13

@Jeds55 isn't it horrendous? The only way I can stop comparing pregnancy tests is by using a different brand each time 🙈 I'll run out of options soon.

Jeds55 · 28/03/2021 08:23

How is everyone doing? I'm still pretty much symptomless, occasional slight nausea mainly in evening but could be in my mind. Clearblue rolled over to 3+ weeks so I've (mostly) stepped away from the tests. Think I'm 5+3 today.
I've booked a private scan for 2 weeks time but going to phone doctors who can hopefully refer me to EPU for early scan before that. I need more progesterone also and to have some advice as to how long I'm supposed to take it for as got my prescription through private doctor as found out on a Sunday.
Hope everyone is doing well. @glowingtwig hope your next bloods showed a better increase.
Still veering between thinking why can't this go right this time and knowing it'll go wrong.

glowingtwig · 28/03/2021 10:24

@Jeds55 thank you for checking in on me. Unfortunately it's been another miscarriage 😞 the next result was lower so I knew it was imminent, then started bleeding. Had a scan and looks like it's all resolved naturally.

So we are feeling really sad about it and a bit hopeless. Also we have to take a break now which stresses me out because at 40 I feel like I'm running out of time and every month that goes by is potentially a good egg wasted.

Re the progesterone my gp said next time I should be on it up to 14 weeks if that helps. ❤️

Jeds55 · 28/03/2021 10:49

@glowingtwig so sorry to hear this, had everything crossed for you. Are they going to do any investigations now that you've had 3 in a row? Good that you'll get progesterone next time, knowing that gave me a bit of hope that this time will be different.
I'm 39 so totally get what you mean about the clock ticking. You've had a child pretty recently tho so shows you've got some good eggs left. Take care x

Jeds55 · 28/03/2021 10:51

Also thanks re progesterone info, I've heard 12, 14 and 16 weeks. Tbf if it helps I don't mind doing it every night for 9 months x

glowingtwig · 28/03/2021 10:59

@Jeds55 we were already having investigations with Prof Regan's clinic at St Mary's but I was impatient and refused to stop trying - I was due one more scan and a repeat blood test but couldn't have it because fell pregnant before I could have them. 🙄 So now I've delayed it even more. Just hoping my egg quality hasn't plummeted in the last few years... turning 40 has been a bit of a psychological barrier for me I think, although we seem to get pregnant really quickly.

The consultant I saw said a pessary every 12 hours next time. I really hope this next pregnancy works out for you xx

Loulou233 · 30/03/2021 09:37

Hi, I came across this thread and I'm in a similar position, I've had 4 miscarriages, most recently in Jan 2021, I'm now pregnant again at about 6 weeks. But I'm worried because like all the mc's I have absolutely no symptoms. I think I had slight nausea last week but nothing now for days. I'm on progesterone, aspirin and a low dose steroid. I could only get a scan for Friday 9 April so it's gonna be a long two weeks wait to see how things are going!

Jeds55 · 30/03/2021 17:38

Hi @Loulou233 congratulations on your pregnancy but sorry to hear you're feeling anxious too. It's so hard to get all the bad stuff thats been before out of your mind isn't it. I'm making a huge effort to entertain the idea that this could be successful and do feel a bit better for it. I figure if it's going to go wrong it will whether I obsess about it or not. That's me today anyway, may not be so positive tomorrow. I'm getting some nausea and slight food aversions too too, although hard to know if it's in my mind - it's definitely a lot milder than it was with dd.
Is your scan with EPU? Hopefully it comes around quickly for you. I have a scan at EPU on 8th April so day before. Really hope all is well for both of us

Loulou233 · 31/03/2021 20:51

Hi @Jeds55 thanks for the reply and positivity boost! You're absolutely right, if the worst happens my worrying won't stop it. Yes, I'm with the EPU, they would have given me a scan this week but they're busy with Easter. I'm really hopeful the scans go well for the both of us, keeping fingers and toes crossed!

Hope everyone is doing well.

AlbiMix · 21/04/2021 22:23

Hi @Loulou233 & @Jeds55 I'm just reviving this as I'm in a similar boat, had an MC at around 8 weeks a couple of months ago and now pregnant again (5+3) but freaking out because I have no symptoms (except for being really hungry most of the time), no sore boobs, nausea or anything. It was the same for the MC so I'm just really resigned that it'll be the same again. How did both your scans go?

Jeds55 · 22/04/2021 17:37

Hi @AlbiMix sorry to hear you're going through the uncertainty of early pregnancy too. After I last posted I got hit with awful all day sickness and just generally feeling like absolute shite. Had to have time off work. My scan at EPU showed baby with heartbeat measuring correct date and I've since had a private scan few days ago which showed the same. Still only around 9 weeks so long way to still go. Still feeling awful.
I really hope it's a good outcome for you, can you book an early scan for when you'd be around 7 weeks? That's far enough in that they should be able to see heartbeat etc so you should get some clarity.
Pregnancy after miscarriage is just never the same.

Jeds55 · 22/04/2021 17:38

Also just to add I have the sickness, dizziness etc had with DD but no sore boobs/metallic taste that had with her so symptoms are different this time.

Jeds55 · 22/04/2021 17:40

@Loulou233 I hope your scan went well

AlbiMix · 23/04/2021 10:35

Hi @Jeds55 thanks for replying! So glad to hear that your scan went well and all is well so far. It sounds like there's no reason to believe it will go wrong now, I know nothing is given but fingers crossed.

I'm still without symptoms and approaching 6 weeks. I've had maybe the slightest bit of breast pain today but negligible and maybe not even real, lol. I've read that sickness is a good sign so it just really worries me that I don't have anything. I think I will try to book a private scan at around 7 weeks, maybe just before if I'm impatient, but I'm going to wait a few more days to book that. With my first pregnancy and MC, I had one booked for 8 weeks but brought it forward a few days as I had had some bleeding. I think I only want to book the scan once I'm 6+, just out of superstition. Last time the baby measured 6 weeks and had no heartbeat, so I just want to know with this one asap if the same has happened. I have other health problems so I'm just convinced there's something underlying here.

Hoping @Loulou233 also had a good scan result 🤞

Loulou233 · 23/04/2021 11:43

Hi @AlbiMix congratulations on your pregnancy, sorry to hear you're worrying though. As @Jeds55 says, it's just not the same after a miscarriage. I think a scan at 7 weeks is good idea and will hopefully give you some piece of mind. I've had two scans since, one at 7 weeks where they found some internal bleeding so had another one last week at 8 weeks and everything was good, baby was correct measurements with a strong heartbeat. I have another scan next week, at ten weeks. I still have absolutely no symptoms so I'm afraid to say I'm still worrying. I'm not out of the woods yet but trying to stay positive!

Hi @Jeds55 I'm delighted to hear your scan went well and that everything is ok, although that's a shame you're feeling so unwell. Hopefully everything goes well for you at your next scan.

gizmo167 · 23/04/2021 12:39

Hi everyone, hope all is progressing well for you @Jeds55, @Loulou233 and @AlbiMix x

I just found out this week that I'm pregnant after 2 mc's in the past year, the last only on 14 Feb. I'm a nervous wreck, I turned 43 last month so completely aware time is really not on my side and just want this one so badly!

Both my mc's were around the 6 week mark so at around 4wk3d I'm feeling anxious. Have a bit of backache today, feeling very nauseous at times and my boobs are only starting to get sore, all symptoms from all pregnancies so different! I have a DD who will be 8 in the summer so know it can be done!

AlbiMix · 23/04/2021 17:49

Thanks @Loulou233, so happy to hear that your scans have been positive so far. I know all too well the anxiety of the lack of symptoms, but they do say after you've seen the heartbeat your odds of a healthy pregnancy are much better (I lost my last one before a HB). It is sort of reassuring for me that your scans have been good even though you have no symptoms...I'm just hoping that can happen for me too but also trying not to be too hopeful. I think not having any kids makes it even harder as I just don't know if my body can do this. Best of luck for next week, let us know how you get on :)

@gizmo167 my MC was almost exactly at the same time as yours, and I'm just over a week ahead of you with this one. Also feeling super anxious. Fingers crossed for us both.

Jeds55 · 24/04/2021 06:39

Hi @AlbiMix totally understand the feeling of just wanting to know what's going on. My partner thinks I'm over the top with all the scans but the thought of walking around blissfully unaware of the baby having passed again is just too much. It sounds like a good plan to wait for 6 weeks then book a scan for few days/week later. I coped with early pregnancy with dd by having regular scans so the period of 'unknown' between them wasn't too long.
Let us know how you get on. Have everything crossed for you. It's also still early days for symptoms to appear so you could still get them.
