Hi,

I'm having really bad backache problems, and am trying pretty much everything going. I have a gym ball, which helps in the evenings but am after something a bit more portable.

I know you can use TENS machines during labour, but has anyone used them in the run-up?

I feel like there is a rotten part of my back that just needs gouging out, the pain is really localised.

Also, any recommendations on where to rent from? There are so many options when I google it, so it would be nice to have some personal recommendations.

Many thanks, as always Smile

My TENS says "not to be used during pregnancy". No idea what the risks are though.

There are zillions of threads on here about best places to hire them - I actually got mine second hand from eBay (is a Lloyds Pharmacy one)

Thanks Widgeon. Seriously, they say not to use them during pregnancy?! Might ask my midwife...

Well, that's what the instructions which come with my one says. If you google "can TENS be used during pregnancy" there seem to be different answers. I don't know whether there's some sort of proven risk or whether it's just that there is a lack of research about the risks (and so manufacturers err on the side of caution). I am completely not medically qualified, so good idea to ask your midwife (or someone on here might have some actual, scientifically based advice!)
