Hiring a tens machine

Which is the best tens machine to hire?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Got mine from Boots online - simple to use, clear instructions, think it cost £30 for 4 weeks and you can extend if for free you go overdue.

I didn't really expect it to work but it did! I was 6cm dilated by time i got to hospital and it helped me get through the early stages a lot, though no good after that point.

Just make sure you get one with the boost button.

There is one in Tchibo at the moment @ £25ish approx to buy....

hired from mothercare, it was great, especially boost button.

noonki · 10/01/2009 21:39

if you are thinking of having more kids you may as be well buying one

I got one from Amazon for around £25-£30. Definitely worth it for me. Although in actual labour I couldn't figure out how to work it and sometimes the button had to be pressed twice to get boost to come on/go off which was a bit annoying. Chucked it at DH after a bit who handled it marvellously.

I got a maternity tens brand new from ebay. Cost about the same as hiring from our local hospital and have used for both DD and loaned to a few friends since too.

Hello - just wanted to echo - which is the best one? Am slightly confused from reading this thread. The £18.50 looks like a bargain but does it have a boost button?

BakewellTarts · 24/01/2009 21:24

I hired my tens machine from this company Babycaretens. A range of machines and packages available. Very pleased with their service and the machine I got.

BTW I found tens so useful in both my births. Best of luck.

BakewellTarts spookily I was just looking at the same website - which machine did you go for?

BakewellTarts · 25/01/2009 21:50

Hi Mirry, I hired the Elle one...was very pleased with it. Has all the necessary features including the boost button and a lot of different levels of intensity. Best of luck.

I loved the neurotrac. I bought it secondhand on ebay and some new pads then sold it on again afterwards so it only cost me the price of the pads which was about £4.
I had hired this model previously for earlier birth.
