Arrrgggghhhhhhh time is dragging until my scan! I have mw appointment a week today when I'll be 8 weeks- any ideas what she ll do in that appointment??

Then I presume I'll have to arrange the scan for 4 weeks time?

Time please go fast just this once!!

I feel the same way - I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and my scan is 21st Feb, and that's when I have my midwife booking appointment too - it feels like a whole lifetime away!!

Nicky7611 · 08/02/2011 12:11

I feel the same. Im ten weeks and my scan is two weeks away, and I cant wait, especially as we are suspecting I might be carrying twins Shock

CilantroLarry · 08/02/2011 12:14

That first midwife's appt will be a long one. They take A LOT of blood, perhaps weigh you, take a complete history, talk about your care, ask 8 billion questions. Takes about an hour. Will also be given your maternity notes and a wad of leaflets.

The wait is hard for the 12 week scan. I'm 8wks atm and time is dragging.

JeewizzJen · 08/02/2011 12:27

My booking appt was only about 40 mins, and they didn't take any bloods etc - where I live they do that part at the hosptial when you have the 12 week scan. They ask a ton of questions though! I was really excited about it, but it's actually not very exciting at all (or maybe I just had a rubbish MW!!). I think usually the midwife will arrange your scan for you after you've been in for the booking appt, and you'll get a letter in the post with the date. Again that might vary depending on where you live.

The wait for the scan does feel like the longest weeks of your life, I remember it well! I'm 19 weeks now, my 20 week scan is on Friday and the wait hasn't been any where near as bad for this one.

Best of luck - it was so amazing to see the baby for the first time, I blubbed all the way through!!

things that increase your chances of twins

CrazyAlien06 · 08/02/2011 12:51

Glad I'm not the only one feeling like this! Looking forward to mw appointment but not as much as scan! Hope u can amend scan appointments if needed as wont be able to get time off as headteacher has no idea at the moment!
Wow twins! I checked that link and if you are above average height u have more chane! I'm 5th 11" lol. Think there are twins somewhere distant in my family. Just one would be fab:D wish I could sleep until the scan :D

You can phone the department direct to rearrange a scan date if it doesn't suit. I had to with dd. I'm going away when I'll be 12+1 so can't have a scan that week. With dd my scan was at 10+4 though so there's a chance it won't coincide.

CrazyAlien06 · 08/02/2011 17:13

hey, CilantroLarry Thanks for the info re booking scan. I hope that I can get it a little early as I am going for a lovely weekend away with DH and dog ( it was my Xmas pressie from him) and I would love to be able to celebrate that weekend, and if it is not a good result from the scan it would be nice to be away for a while.

I am away during weeks 9-10 skiing lol so hopefully get it when I am back!

I've finally got my booking appointment next Monday, when I'll be 10w3d. Then the first scan isn't til 3 March, when I'll be 12w6d -- feels like an eternity!

I had an emergency scan last week and saw the heartbeat, and the wait doesn't seem quite so bad since then -- but I'm ready to start telling people, and we've agreed not to do that until after the NT text. The next three weeks are going to be long!

CrazyAlien06 · 08/02/2011 18:19

hey, urbandaisy I hope that the three weeks whizz by for you :D
I don't know when my official booking appointment is, I just got told to book mw appointment Iol I think that she will then book that? no idea! this mw is going to love me hahaha , i have no idea about babies!

I just hope that I can get a scan asap so that I can feel that I am really carrying a baby! Don't feel pregnant at all! its really weird feeling.

I found the 12week wait really hard and couldn't keep my mouth shut until then so most people already knew. Didn't get my scan until 14wks but it was amazing. I too had not really had any symptoms and was desperate to 'feel' pregnant. I hope the wait is worth it for all of you, if its your first you have no idea what to expect and is amazing! Smile

nicolamumof3 · 08/02/2011 20:36

it is an agonising wait i agree, and i was there over xmas. Am now 17+3 so the time does go, just now eagerly awaiting 20w scan instead!

good luck all of you!

daimbardiva · 08/02/2011 20:39

You are so right - I feel like I've known I'm pregnant forever, but I'm still just 6 weeks!! I am getting an early scan next week though, due to a previous mc, so at least that should keep me happy for a bit!

Good luck to you allxxx

CrazyAlien06 · 16/02/2011 15:57

How did the scan go daimbardiva?
I had my first mw appointment and booked in for booking in appointment lol.
Just got to wait for hospital to send my my scan date next. Am 8 weeks now so should be in next few weeks :D
My symptoms have lessened a bit but mw says that normal so that's a relief! I still can't believe I'm pregnant though until I (hopefully) see the baby on the scan!

I'm 10 + 1 and had no appointment yet. I am going crazy waiting to see peanut on the screeen

Chilli81 · 16/02/2011 17:38

I felt that time sped up as the pregnancy did. I remember getting my BFP at 4 weeks so the wait to 12 weeks was excruciating, especially weeks 4-8 I'd say.
Time does speed up- honestly. (I'm now 23+2 btw)

PukeyMummy · 16/02/2011 17:52

Agreed, the wait is horrible. We are now out of the other side (14 weeks) but would not want to be back in the pre-12-week wait for all the money in the world. You have my sympathies!

Ilovekittyelise · 16/02/2011 18:03

i've got my scan next week at 11+3; had to push to have it moved forward; i had a T21 pregnancy last year and even with a scan at 11+2 it was only just enough time to diagnose and have a termination before it became a necessity to induce labour (the cut off is 14 weeks, my surgical termination was at 13+4).

you can have your nuchal and corresponding bloods anytime from 11+0 - i'd strongly advise people to get the scan is as soon into the window as can be arranged as by the time they have got the combined screen results back, and then arranged a CVS, then waited for the results, you haven't much time to make decisions. sorry if this sounds negative but feel its important information to bare in mind.

daimbardiva · 16/02/2011 20:34

Had my 8 week scan and all well - yay! Now seems a lifetime till the 12 week one - can't wait to go public, just sick of hiding it now

iberry · 16/02/2011 21:21

Im 8+1 and I have to wait until the end of this week for my first mw appointment. I dont know when my first scan will be.

Even worse I have to wait until the end of the week to see my DH who I havent seen since I found out I was pregnant (he works overseas).

Honestly weeks 4-8 seem like the longest weeks of my life!

And its still 4 weeks until I can tell my family and friends. Has time stoppped?

lolajane2009 · 16/02/2011 21:37

t21 is downs?

CrazyAlien06 · 17/02/2011 07:58

daimbardiva Glad to hear that your week scan went well, im so nervous about my 12 week one. My DH is getting fed up of my worrying so Ive decided not to talk about it until had confirmation as I am so worried :( Can't believe it as things dont usually go right for me x
