Will anyone join a new baby bus with me?

I just got a BFP this morning so its very early days for me, but I'm so excited I thought what the hell, I'll head straight for the pregnancy thread anyway Grin

If all goes according to plan this will be DC2 and due on 2nd October. Ive enjoyed being on the October TTC bus so I thought it would be fun to continue over here.

So lovely to be on here with all of you as it feels ok to obsess about it all. Very supportive, Thankyou :)

Tummytickler I've been speaking to lots of mums I know and reading up on here and I think we're all so different with what symptoms we feel. Cramping's really normal, everyone assures me. I find I get cramps if I do too much.

Can't believe how tired I am and how much I feel I've got to slow down, didn't realise how active my life was until now!

I've had all sorts of symptoms:
Achy hips (most annoying), Cramps and low abdominal stitches, Mild MS, Dizziness, Overheating, Exhausted, Disturbed Sleep, Sore growing boobs also really vivid dreams

Most of them come and go but feel overwhelmed at how much my body feels different in these early days.

tummytickler · 19/02/2011 16:01

elgoldenflower yes to the overheating! I have been so hot. Dh slept on the sofa the other night because i had both bedroom windows wide open, and also yes the disturbed sleep. I cannot stop going for a wee either.
Maybe I have more symptoms than i think i do! Thanks for that list!
welcome seasalt congratulations on your bfp. Time seems to go so slowly when you're ttc doesn't it.

Bouncyminky · 19/02/2011 16:45

I had hip pain from mid last pg and it didn't go til dd was born. It's all the muscles relaxing I think - normal but you should let your mw know if it gets too bad as I'm sure they can give something to help.

bilblio · 19/02/2011 21:08

Hi all. I've spent today thinking of more things that should have made me realise sooner, and napping on the settee while DD played on me. I'm still vaguely in denial. This was planned, but only the first month of trying. Exactly the same thing happened last time. My friend has asked if I'll hire DH out for stud! :o
It's a good job we didn't try any sooner. We said we'd try after Christmas but then delayed it because I'm going to see Pulp in July and didn't want to be heavily pregnant. :)

For those who are aching. I remember it did stop after a few weeks, the middle months were fine but then once I got big I started aching again.
tummytickler and elgoldenflower I'd love to over heat right now. I'm freezing! But then we have been expecting snow all day.

I've started feeling queasy today too, at the minute having something to eat is curing it but I'm going to buy some ginger ale. It was my constant companion for the first 3 months last time. I was never actually sick though thankfully. I did always drive home from work on the outside lane just in case though because tea time was when I felt worst.

I'm going to go back to reading my Tommy's book and see what I've forgotten since last time.

cupofteaplease · 20/02/2011 07:30

Morning all,
I'm sorry to post negatively first thing in the morning but I'm getting myself into a bit of a tizz. I'm only 6 weeks, but I was awake for a few hours during the night with lower back pain. It reminded me of when I used to get period pain (before having children) or when I was in very early back to back labour. After 2 mcs, I just want to know that everything is ok Sad. How can I get some reassurance? I can't get a midwife appointment until 8 weeks, not that I would waste their time with something they probably couldn't help anyway.

elgoldenflower · 20/02/2011 08:28

Morning cupofteaplease

I totally understand how worried you are, the other night I dreamt about miscarrying and made me realise that it is a real possibility that I must try to be braced for. We're not in control of this thing that's happening to us. We can only hope to get through the first 12 weeks.

On the other hand, I've had lower backache really early on in my pregnancy, as well as period like cramps, I'm also getting all sorts of aches and pains in the night and need an extra pillow between my knees.

Best thing I can suggest is rest up to day and try not to panic - sorry if that's not much help. Fingers crossed for you

happymummytobe · 20/02/2011 09:49

cupofteaplease Try calling your hospital. I called with a query and was told that if I had any pain or bleeding they would scan me to make sure all was ok.
But it does seem that lots of people have quite bad cramp (myself included!) so you're not alone!

tummytickler · 20/02/2011 10:47

I am not sure a hospital would do much unless you were actually bleeding quite heavily. Maybe see your GP on Monday.
But it does sound ok - as happymum said loads of us are crampy. I have horrid cramps today. They have me running to the loo in a paranoid fashion.
Have you taken some paracetamol to make yourself more comfortable?

cocomoon · 20/02/2011 11:03

Apologies if I don'y use the correct abreviations, I'm new to this (first post).

Delighted to announce I am pregnant!!! Due approx 23/10/11!!

This is our first pregancy and I am excited/scared/amazed. Been trying for a couple of years, had 3 cycles of clomid, no joy. All stopped in Novemeber when we moved house and moved to a different PCT. They started again with all fertility testing, due to go back in early March for results and IVF discussion. Don't think I need to now!

Have done 5 tests, wasn't sure that the first one was positive enough. DH is away overseas, told him on the phone, he is delighted, as am I. Not told anyone else yet, hoping to wait till after 12 weeks. Have GP appointment on Thursday.

I am exhausted. Seem to hit a wall of tiredness after 4pm. Lasts till about 9ish. In the morning I am wide awake, feeling great, even managing the gym this morning. However 4pm hits and I can barely function, and eating is out of the question. So at the moment I am able to have breakfast and early lunch.

Looking forward to sharing our journeys.
cx

tummytickler · 20/02/2011 11:07

Congratulations cocomoon if you can eat breakfast but no evening meal that is a good excuse for a good cooked breakfast in my book!
It's very exciting isn't it. This is dc5 for us, but I am just as excited and worried as I was with our first dd. I just want to get to 13 weeks!

Do you think you will be getting early scans because of your previous fertility problems?

bilblio · 20/02/2011 11:19

cupofteaplease Try not to worry. I have back ache too. I've had it for about a week now. I had it last time too. Then I didn't realise and remember saying to a friend "I wish this flipping period would hurry up and start" It was later that night that that I did the sums. This time round it's not taken me quite as long to suss.

Still feeling slightly bemused though and sort of embarrassed. I've got so many friends who've had problems conceiving, yet both times we've got lucky on the first month of trying. DH is feeling very virile :o

Is anyone else spreading the news yet? I'm rubbish at keeping secrets if they involve me.
We've told family and friends who we're closest to. I've got 2 jobs and 1 includes a lot of moving and handling so I'm going to have to phone the manager there tomorrow so she can do a risk assessment. (I didn't have one last time and I had some bleeding early on and everyone panicked.) As I'm telling one manager I may as well tell the other especially as I'm there more often and won't be able to keep my mouth shut.... or stop grinning :)

Fleecy · 20/02/2011 11:27

I've been getting backache too. It does worry me every time but as you say, there's nothing much we can do about it. SO many niggles to panic about!

elgoldenflower · 20/02/2011 11:30

I've told quite a few people, I find it hard to keep things to myself anyway but have only told F&F who I know would be there 100% if something goes wrong, told them all it's early days so nothing's certain.

I'm self-employed so thought I might not tell work but end of last week was exhausting and made me feel breathless, overheated and dizzy so think I'm going to have to speak to people who contract me. That's 3 different organisations eek!

Thanks again to all, love being on here as I cannot stop thinking about it all.

monkeybubbles · 20/02/2011 12:26

been having backache for a few days and a sort of strange pain (but not quite cramps) then a bit of bleeding last night. so worried. think it might be cystitis or kidney infection, hoping it's nothing more as i feel that my other symptoms have gone. just on my way to a&e now (rang maternity unit and that's what they said to do)

please think good thoughts for me.

Crawling · 20/02/2011 12:36

Monkeybubbles I really hope it all goes well let us know how you get on.

NotjustaMummy · 20/02/2011 12:47

I saw that a couple of posters have already mentioned the happy news at work. I'm not quite sure if I should or not. I'm employed on a maternity cover contract scheduled to finish at the end of April, but it may be extended / made perm if the person I'm covering doesn't come back or only wants to be PT, which the rumour mill claims is likely. I love the job, and would be happy to stay on, but I'm slightly concerned that if I announced my news that they then wouldn't offer me anything. I'm also not sure what my rights (if any) would be in terms of leave and allowance, as I'm basically considered a temporary employee. Thankfully, I've not suffered much in the way of symptoms, and my colleagues are predominately youthful gentlemen and unlikely to twig...
WWYD?

tummytickler · 20/02/2011 13:01

monkeybubbles hope your trip to a&e brings happy news. Bleeding is common in early pregnancy and doesn't always lead to mc - although that does not stop the worrying. It's also normal for symptoms to come and go - so fingers crossed for you.xxxxx

Engelsmeisje · 20/02/2011 15:05

elgoldenflower also struggling with keeping it to myself but we have only told my best friend.

Am so worried about having another mc, I don't think I could cope if we had to go round and tell everyone that everything had gone wrong.

Plus want to be able to tell my mum and dad face-to-face (I live abroad) and we're seeing them at the end of April at the mo unless we schedule a sneaky weekend back! Even though obvously my work has to get someone in good time for maternity cover, I'm worried that once one person finds out, it will spread and before you know it, it'll be on facebook for the world to see, which is not how I want my close family and friends to find out.

Am meeting some old friends next week who I haven't seen for a year. I've never been a big drinker but they'll know something's up when I'm not having a glass of wine.

It's so easy for my dp to say "let's not tell anyone" when he's not the one refusing brie/pate/wine (which is also annoying me...he keeps buying things at the supermarket that he knows I can't eat) and he's not the one who's going to be growing a bump, feeling knackered, and enjoying some delightful acne (that led one of my colleagues to ask "what's wrong with your face?"........to which I answered, "hormones"...not exactly lying eh?!).

Am so tempted to just blurt it out to random strangers! I hate having to keep it to myself!

Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to vent a little!

AgBag · 20/02/2011 15:37

Hi all.. is anyone suffering from diarrhoea? I'm 5+3 and started getting quite a bad runny tummy a few days ago - also with tummy cramps and nausea. I've not vomitted though. I wasn't sure if it was a reaction to the Pregnacare vitamins I was taking, so I stopped them a couple of days ago but still have a bad tummy.

I do have a quite a weak constitution and always catch tummy bugs while travelling.
But I wasn't sure if this is my body's way of dealing with morning sickness. Out the bottom end instead of top?!

Is anyone else having the same problem?

cupofteaplease · 20/02/2011 16:09

Good luck monkeybubbles

bilblio · 20/02/2011 16:23

Monkeybubbles good luck, thinking of you.

NotjustaMummy In your situation I'd keep quiet for now. By April you'll be about 12 weeks and lots of people do keep quiet till then. I'd wait and see what they offer you. Spend the next few weeks showing that you're keen and making yourself invaluable.
I'd have to be honest if they did offer me the job though. Legally I don't think you have to, but I wouldn't want to start off on a bad footing.

Tamashii · 20/02/2011 17:29

hope ur doing good monkeybubbles Welcome and congrats to all new BFPs. I'm so so so unbelievably sick this weekend. i've kept NOTHING down since Friday but am still trying to eat and drink in the hope that I'm getting some tiny bit of liquid/nutrition. Can't take my Pregnacare either cos they just come back up. worrying about that too. What can I do? I'm struggling to txt this even. I just feel so so so ill I can't even explain but need to share with u guys cos there's only OH in RL n he's a bit fedup

elgoldenflower · 20/02/2011 17:36

Thinking of you monkeybubbles

Tamashii that sounds awful. Hope it eases. There are some liquid vitamin supplements you can get from health food stores, some are recommended for pregnancy I think. Maybe worth looking into if you're worried about Folic Acid.

MS is creeping up on me now, morning until afternoon yesterday, all day to day but just nausea relieved by eating so I guess I'm lucky.

Bumpsadaisie · 20/02/2011 18:40

Tamashii

If you have literally kept nothing (not even water/fluids) down for three days plus you ought to be seeing a doctor pronto.

I was off work with DD for 6 weeks and at the worst point (10 weeks I think) could keep nothing down for 3 days or so. I went on Cyclizine which really helped. You still feel shit but you can eat and drink a bit.

You need to get your urine tested for ketones make sure you are not dehydrated.

Bumps
xx

Bumpsadaisie · 20/02/2011 18:43

PS hello everyone - I'm 5wks+6 and think due on about Oct 20th. It's DC2 for us - DD is 21 months nearly.

Hoping and praying everything will be ok with this one as very pleased to be expecting again!

Do have symptoms - tiredness, slighty pukey feeling all the time, nibbling all day long. But nothing serious yet (think the serious MS started at about 7 weeks for me last time round).
