Will anyone join a new baby bus with me?

I just got a BFP this morning so its very early days for me, but I'm so excited I thought what the hell, I'll head straight for the pregnancy thread anyway Grin

If all goes according to plan this will be DC2 and due on 2nd October. Ive enjoyed being on the October TTC bus so I thought it would be fun to continue over here.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mpops · 11/02/2011 10:39

iloveblue, I'm due on 5 Oct too. So six and a half.

I'm so jealous of all of you who have their scans arranged already. I guess I only went to the GP yesterday to get the referral but I wish I had a date to look forward to. It's all a bit unreal still. Good luck to those of you getting early scans.

I did another test this morning. I was feeling very emotional when I got up and needed the reassurance... Blush

Still haven't got any morning sickness. I'm bloated and have sore boobs and my sense of smell is ridiculous. Some slight nausea in the evening too. And tiiiiiiredzzzzz... But that's about it.

Did anyone get the swine flu jab?

iloveblue · 11/02/2011 10:46

I've also got no morning sickness yet mpops - I'm pretty sure I did have at this stage with previous pregnancies, but I've decided to stop worrying about it and enjoy it!
Only symptoms I have is tiredness really.

I'm itching to do another test too - but have used them all up!

Iwish · 11/02/2011 10:53

Hey all! I'm 6 weeks today and feeling like crap lol. Feel sick so have been stuffing my face with biscuits or ice cubes which seem to help.

How are you all managing to keep it a secret at work?? I really want to tell someone.

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 11/02/2011 10:57

hi ladies how are you all this morning?
tiredness is now kicking in with me (cazily decided to do housework till 12.30 last night) started work at 8am this morning and eyes are literally shutting. roll on 6pm

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 11/02/2011 10:58

hi iwish
i always struggle to keep secrets so have told 2 close friends at work my mum and DH
Blush

mpops · 11/02/2011 11:14

Iwish, I told one person from work - my closest friend here and someone who wouldn't breathe a word to anyone. I thought I should really tell someone here because if anything happened and I needed to take time off, I'd rather they spoke to my boss in person to explain the situation rather than me getting stressed about explaining.

Molybdenum · 11/02/2011 12:34

Hi everyone.
Sorry, have been absent from the bus for the last week or so - I've been absolutely knackered, as doing a lot of travel with work, have to do a lot of work in the evenings at home as well. Sadly the world doesn't stop just because you're pregnant!

BuffyFairy (I think it was you!) of course you are welcome to PM me and I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. I do a lot of lecturing in the field, so can probably give you tips on training providers etc.

Had my first spew yesterday. It was after a whole bag of clementines. My poor darling DH was picking bits of semi-digested slimy citrus fruit out of the kitchen sink all evening.

It's all moving rather quickly now: I have my first midwife appointment on Monday, and my scan is booked for four weeks' time. I went to the ante-natal clinic yesterday to see the endocrinologist, as I have Hashimoto's disease which needs monitoring throughout. I felt a total fraud: all these beautiful pregnant bumps everywhere, and me in my size 4 jeans. The receptionist actually did a double take and asked me if I was pregnant! Is there anyone else who has not even a hint of a bump yet? I thought because I'm so tiny that it would poke out straight away, but I've got nothing! If it wasn't for the constant nausea sore boobs I would never believe I was up the duff!

On the subject of boobs: my nipples are unbelievably tender and sticking out what feels like a mile! DH and I always sleep in the nude, but I've had to start wearing a singlet top to bed, just to stop my poor sensitive nipples rubbing against the sheet.

Hope everyone else is doing well. My heart goes out to those whose pregnancies have ended. I'm already so attached to the thus-far invisible little thing; the thought of losing it is awful.

FluffyDonkey · 11/02/2011 13:01

Iwish I'm more and more tempted to tell, just to be able to moan about feeling rotten! But unless I'm outed, I'm only saying after my first scan which is 21st March (12 weeks)

I like (most) of the people I work with but I don't want them knowing too much of my personal life. So if I could avoid it, I wouldn't want them to know about a miscarriage.

SazzyM · 11/02/2011 13:08

A very whimpery hello from me today. Am so gross and lurgied people are giving me a wide berth!

Have total hormonal irrationality too - last night i told boyf he should go to this do tonight that I can't go to, to make sure we aren't a rubbish couple and not to let people down - he said he would prefer to come home and look after me. Then this morning he clearly decided a friday beer was in order and said he actually would go out and now I'm p*ssed off!!

Am I actually allowed to throw a hissy fit when I told him to go in the first place...?

kateepie2 · 11/02/2011 13:27

sazzy I would probably have a hissy fit, but then I hate having to stay home when other people are out having a good time!

moly Some days I feel as though I have a bump (only at 4 weeks!), but DP assures me I look normal, must be the flab... Grin if its your first I think it takes a good while.

Crawling · 11/02/2011 13:44

I always had a bit of a phantom bump (or bloat)Grin 4-6 weeks and then it went till 12 weeks on DC3 and it seems to be the same this time.

I cant go in my kitchen to clean everytime I go in there the smell of our dogs bed makes me be constantly sick. I guess DP will have to clean in there when he gets home Grin

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 11/02/2011 13:55

with my 1st i dodn't start shoeing until 6months, hoping this one will be the same Wink

starsandplanets11 · 11/02/2011 14:12

Sorry to hear about so many feeling bad today.

My arm is really hurting after yesterday's flu jab, got various aches and pains, couldn't sleep... Generally feeling sorry for myself and for the little thing. I read somewhere its heart is the size of a poppy seed and it makes me tearful everytime I think of it! It's so wonderful and sad... (reaches for tissues)

I'm planning to call my mum this evening and tell her. I think it will help to talk about it with someone who's done it and in a different time so has a different experience. With me she didn't have a single scan and with my sis she had one but only because she was a big baby and they thought it could be twins :)

Do you know if it's OK to take cranberry extract? I've had UTIs in the past and worry about getting one now. The pills seem to help but I don't like the juice.

snowpeas · 11/02/2011 14:17

Lynda I'm ready for 200 questions! He has a very enquiring mind and I know he is going to want to know everything Confused

crawling I've been exactly the same with the smell of our dog too, poor thing is wondering what's going on as I usually give him a big fuss on a morning but all I can manage at the moment is to quickly pat his head while holding my nose.
I also managed to rumble DH's secret chocolate eating yesterday, he's supposed to be on a health drive but as soon as he came in from work I could smell peanut M&M's, not bothered that he had them just miffed that he didn't bring me any.

I have got the munchies today but anything remotely healthy just turns my stomach whereas Junk is absolutely fine, I am totally ashamed to say I have just eaten 3 small bags of mini chedders and half a packet of shortcake biscuits and I could quite happily much my way through the rest of the biscuits if I allowed myself Blush

happymummytobe · 11/02/2011 14:41

Just had a call from my hospital to confirm that I'm registered there and I mentioned that I'm getting cramps. The midwife was amazing, reassured me it was probably ok but told me to come in anytime without an appointment for a scan to check that the baby is ok. She was so lovely and even though I'm not really, really worried, it is great to know I can go in if I need to. When she heard it was my first pregnancy she was so kind. Smile
Feel so overwhelmed and very teary today. I'm so incredibly happy but the whole thing feels unreal!

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 11/02/2011 14:45

happymummytobe - thats fab that you have such a good midwife, i still haven't even called doc to register yet. will do it on monday

mpops · 11/02/2011 15:44

happymummytobe, that's great about your midwife. I'm sooooo nervous about what mine is going to be like and when they'll get in touch and all that. I know it's different for everyone but how long does it usually take for them to get in touch after the referral form's been sent out?

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 11/02/2011 16:30

ok i now have heartburn, surely this is not preganacy related already?!?!

i thought it was only v.late preg that you get heartburn?

kateepie2 · 11/02/2011 16:33

Nope, I've had it since day 1!

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 11/02/2011 16:36

nooooo!
9 months of this surely not!
will stop by boots on way home from work to buy shelf-ful of gaviscon Grin

lovemysleep · 11/02/2011 17:15

edward I didn't suffer with HB until I was quite far along - but I think the hormones can disrupt your digestion initially anyhow. I know that I am bloated, but at least I haven't got constipation, as that just sucks!

happy good to hear about your lovely midwife. I've not phoned my docs yet - I'm too scared too! I'm going to wait til my early scan next Friday before I do. After 4 mc's, I'm very nervous!

snowpeas I'm a bit rubbish with food at the moment. Made the mistake of picking up a box of Thorntons chocolate covered toffee to day, and could no stop shovelling the stuff in my mouth! Have made a super-spicy chilli for dinner aswell, as I'm on a spice thing too......actually, just on a food thing! have got my skinny jeans on today, and my muffin top is bringing me great shame!
Really don't want to put loads of weight on with this pg, but I am on steroids too, so maybe I will have to accept it. I feel sick when I'm hungry, or wobbly, so I don't like feeling like that.
I put on 3 stone when I was pg with DD - which was perfectly healthy. However, I only weighed 9 stone prior to being pg, so it wasn't so bad. Breastfeeding DID NOT make me lose weight either - it just made me hungry!
This time round, I weigh 10st 8lbs, so I'm starting off heavier.....bet I hit the 13/14stone mark - yikes! But, you know what, as long as I get my baby, I can worry about the weight afterwards.

Hi to everyone else xx

monkeybubbles · 11/02/2011 18:32

i'm so jealous of everyone who has mw appointments and scans coming up. i went to the doc last friday and still haven't heard anything from the hospital. hoping to soon.

spent the afternoon with a friend and her 4 month old, i can't wait until my little apple seed sized embryo is a real little person!

Nettlerash · 11/02/2011 18:59

Can I jump on please? Tested yesterday positive. Work it out as being about 4 weeks x

eagerbeagle · 11/02/2011 19:45

Hi Nettlerash waves and settles down in a window seat.

I got a BFP (well two actually as didn't quite believe the first one so sent DH to the supermarket for a digi so could see it in writing) yesterday too. First month of trying for DC2 so came as a bit of shock.
