Hi,

I'm 10wkes preg and totally paranoid - still waiting on my 12wke scan date and praying that all will be ok this time.
no bleeding this time, but feeling less tired and not feeling sick in the mornings...
.. anyone else in the same boat and fancy holding hands?

tel1 have you asked if you can have an early scan? When I had a mmc in november the epu said next time I got preg I could come in early for a viability scan.

I'm not preg yet though so hopefully someone else will be along soon. Smile Or have you been on the preg after mc thread - they've all been in the same boat!

Good luck!!

tel1 · 17/01/2011 14:40

they didn't offer me anything, and just as luck would have it, they are closing our scan unit for 3 days while in moves into the new pembury hospital, so you just know there's going to be a back log... I could get a private scan, but I'm trying to hold out, plus I'm so scared its going to be bad news I'm putting it off as well I think....

In our hospital it's a completely different scanning facility in a different dept, so it might be worth ringing them if you are worried. I think the risks of mc are much, much lower once you get past 8 or 9 weeks and they find a heartbeat. It just depends how stressed you're getting about it, would you be more reassured or more scared by the thought of an early scan?

Crowborough might be able to help if you have no joy with Pembury.

laylasmummy09 · 17/01/2011 15:38

hi im in the same boat, mmc in august at 11 weeks although baby had died at 8, i cant wait til 12 weeks without my head exploding so im having a private 1 at 8 weeks on 29th, my epu wont do reassurance scans unless theres pain or bleeding or 3+ mc, im 6+3 and i dont feel sick either and im petrified, personally id rather find out quicker to get it over with and try again x

MandaHugNKiss · 17/01/2011 15:55

My boat is similar (paranoid)... but different. This is my fourth pregnancy and after three that were 'fine' (albeit with their own respective problems!) I kinda feel like I've had my quota of good luck and the outcome won't be so happy this time. Especially when I read things like '1 in 4 early pregnancies end in miscarriage'. Yes, I know chemical pregnancies that we're not even aware are (not) happening are included in this figure but I still can't help worrying.

Irrational? Oh, yes. But we all know about the irrational fears of pregnancy. Knowing you're 'being silly' doesnt really help how it feels, does it?

I'm seriously considering a private scan as I don't think I can cope with another 6 weeks of obsessing wondering; especially as I seem to lack any symptoms at all right now and have always known I was pregnant before, even before I took the pregnancy test.

Eesh.

nicolamumof3 · 17/01/2011 16:06

oh i will certainly hold hands!!

I am currently waiting for DH to pick me up to go for 12w scan myself..coincidentally at pembury hospital as well.

I have been a paraoid mess this whole pg. Despite having an early scan at 8+3 and all being well.

MandaHugnKiss i feel same this is fourth pg and i also feel that i've had my quota of 'happy endings' too. Sad

fingers crossed for all x

btw would really really recommend a private scan if you can get one. I had one as i said above and it was only £50 and so so worth it.

littlemissw · 17/01/2011 16:21

HI tel1, I'm 10 weeks too & cannot wait for my 12w scan. My 1st pg ended with m/c too & I had bleeding with both my d/c and subsequently had early scans with them. Nothing this time, so the wait for my first scan seems endless! Even though you have all the symptoms & I've even felt baby move you still can't help but wonder if all is ok in there.

There is quite a few of us over on the august thread Come over & have a chat Smile

lollyheart · 17/01/2011 16:43

Yes me, this is my 7th pregnancy, I have 3 dcs, I'm only 5 weeks, I'm convinced every time I go to the toilet there will be blood.
I'm going to have a private scan around 8 weeks, well if my dh will agree on paying £105 for oneShock
I'm also convinced it ectopic as I have a nagging twinge on my lower left side.

Wishing you all healthy pregnancies. Smile

tel1 · 17/01/2011 16:59

its horrible isn't it - I'm constantly wiping if I feel a leak, thinking its blood... I'm useless to my other 2 children at the moment, and having to hide away from family and other mothers at school, as obviously you can't tell anyone yet - so you scream in silence (or on here). Don't think my midwifes will do anything for paranoia. did get a quote for my local spire hosp. for private scan which is £140 - thing is I couldn't tell my husband, coz he'd just say 'what will be will be', so that would mean going alone, and then if something turned up, he would't be too pleased I hadn't told him...
so I'm 11 wks tomorrow, should hopefully get the scan date in the next few days... so I'll go from there, but go slightly crazy in the meantime ! I must also stop reading threads about distressing situations !! good luck everyone xx

yes trying to step away from the computer definitely helps i've found.

I just had an agonising half hour wait for my scan..and all was good. What an amazing bloody relief.

Tel1 im not sure where abouts you are located but i went to Kent Medical Imaging at Kings Hill where a private scan cost only £50.

jellyhead188 · 17/01/2011 19:11

not in this situation now but was 10 weeks ago so totally sympathise, even though I'd had a scan at 7 week where they saw a hb but said I was only 5+6ish waiting for the 12 week one was agony as I've had 3 previous early m/c one being a missed m/c.

Just beware if you get an early scan from the NHS they are unlikely to then give you a 12 week one (assuming all is well) as they date scan you from 10-14 weeks. xx

MandaHugNKiss · 17/01/2011 19:15

Unless... your 12 week scan is also for the nuchal translucency Wink That HAS to be done between 11 and 13+6weeks, I think, from memory.

MandaHugNKiss · 17/01/2011 19:15

nickstermum · 17/01/2011 19:30

YES! Actually no. Currently 11 weeks tomorrow, (and had a scan at 8 +5 hb seen and good measurements) but still shitting myself royally as although this will be my 2nd child, its my third pg. I had a blighted ovum during 2nd pg discovered at 12 week scan. SO even though hb seen etc, terrified but desparately trying not to think about it!

I had an early nhs scan jelly at the epu and i have another booked with them next week.. it is nuchal though not dating.

nickstermum · 17/01/2011 19:32

Tel i think i have seen you on the diffed thread lately? Yes the world of knicker checking and constant fanjo wiping....takes any pleasure out of it for me!!!!

jenga079 · 17/01/2011 21:07

I'll hold your hand.

Can I also offer a teeny weeny bit of reassurance? I've been feeling exactly the same way for the last two or three weeks, but had my 12 week scan this morning and EVERYTHING WAS OKAY!!!! WHOOOOOOOOPPP!!!!

I've been panicking for weeks and was literally shaking as I walked into the ward this morning (last time I was there was when I miscarried), but it was all absolutely fine.

I am holding your hand and sending you all best wishes. Let us know how it goes.

cece123 · 17/01/2011 22:17

i had a mmc late last year and am now 17 weeks pregnant, at 8 wks i asked the doc to send me for an early scan and i got one within a few days. i have had 3 scans so far so if you are stressing out and worried like i was ring your mw and ask her to send you for a scan now. hopw all will be well for you x

lionmummy · 17/01/2011 22:23

I had a BFP today, am 5 weeks Shock. I had a MC at 18 weeks in the summer, I think I'm going to be on tenterhooks until the baby (if it indeed does!) arrive.Although DH will be in a worse state than me!

jellyhead188 · 17/01/2011 23:35

ah ok I am going on a few years back when our trust didn't do nuchal scanning unless you were over 35. Two friends had an early scan at 10 weeks due to bleeding and weren't given another till 20 weeks.

Although interestingly my 12 week scan ended up being at 10+5 and I was offered a nuchal scan at that point - was told you can have it from between 10 weeks and 14 weeks, maybe they just do nuchal as routine now, this is my 3rd pg and its the only time I've been offered it!

nickstermum · 18/01/2011 07:01

I wonder if there are differences then, here nuchal can be done upto 13.6 but not before 11.5 but like in your case jelly I wonder what happens when sizes etc don't seem to match dates! Must be a contingency!!

Shitting my scan x

tel1 · 18/01/2011 08:42

thanks guys - you made me cry... so obviously there are some hormones working in there... I'm going to phone pembury today to see when my scan is... I'm 11 wks today.... still think the symptoms are dropping off, but then ate a tub of olives last night, which I hate... roll on the 2nd trimester... I can't speak to anyone at the moment, or see any relatives as I'm so wound up, but can't say why to them.... right better get my other 2 off to school !!

Hi Tel1. I'm 11w on thursday and have my scan in 2 weeks. I have two DCs as well. Between weeks6-8 I had small amounts of brown blood/discharge when I wiped. It stopped over xmas when I forced myself to sit down and do nothing. MW didn;t seem massively concerned at booking in, but gave me the number to ring for an early scan if I wanted it.

I decided against it as the bleeding had stopped and TBH I don't want to hear any bad news.

I will be at the scan on my own as OH works abroad.

I'm starting to wake up at 3am terrified about it all and I don't want to go!

tel1 · 18/01/2011 11:22

Hi Captain, it so spoils it all doesn't it - we should be skipping around happy - I had a bit of discharge last week, only happened twice, when I went to the loo, so I too took it easy and it hasn't come back... so fingers crossed - however constantly checking my pants ! - I also have shied away from an early scan because I too scared, plus I would have to go alone and not tell the DH... god I hope I don't have to wait 2 wks - you must be going mad with worry... I keep getting paranoid if I'm not hungry, checking my boobs to see if they have deflated, aaargghhh

well done jenga, I think I'll just be a sobbing wreck in the scan room, whatever the result

its been such a mission to fall for this 3rd child that it puts the extra pressure on

OP posts:
tel1 · 18/01/2011 12:45

well phoned he hosp. scan date is 2nd feb.... burst out crying....
I'm so scared they are not going to find a heartbeat again...

I apologise for my ravings
