Coke for breakfast? I'm going to be the size of a house.

I'm sat here (8.30am) trying to talk myself out of a can of coke.
It's the only think that seems to help with the nausea.
I need a good substitute and some will power .

Me too! But a word of warning I was the same in my pregnancy and i ended up having my first ever filling. I have always blamed the breakfast coke. Be sure to scrub, but apparently not straight away as your enamel will have been softened. This time I'm waiting a while, having lots of water to wash around my mouth then cleaning teeth

I had a can of coke most mornings when doing the nursery run. I needed it and nothing else would suffice. I had hypermesis and it was the only think i could keep down, i think it helped balance my sugar levels too as without it i felt faint. Don't feel guilty, your body has a good way of telling you what you need. My sicknes eased off a bit by 18weeks and I didnt need/want it so much after that.

Have it but drink it through a straw as the coke won't actually touch your teeth.

Thi is what my dentist told me to do as i ONLY like full fat coke etc & it was making a mess of my teeth.

I wouldnt stress too much about it. If your body wants fizz and sugar then ignore the pg police. Fizz seems to be quite a common thing tbh - fizzy water, tonic water etc...and trying to be good and having the diet varieties will only lead you into the path of the 'sweeteners are the devil' brigade. Relax and go with what your body is asking for

If you want it have the can I say but if you are worried about having loads of it try soda water or mineral water.

I found having really cold mineral or soda water in the mornings helped.

Make sure you give it up when the MS stops - it's quite addictive and will play havoc with your blood sugar levels.

Was a big fizzy drink drinker pre-pregnancy but during my first trimester I went completely off it. I went from drinking nearly 1 litre of coke/Dr. Pepper per day to nothing. In my second trimester I started missing it and would drink a glass a day and it really eased my indigestion and nausea to drink it with my dinner. Now in my third trimester I drink it whenever I feel like I need the sugar (about once or twice a week) and it makes me feel much better.

Do what your body tells you to. IME it will only tell you what you need as long as you examine the rest of your diet too and make sure you are eating the other things you should for your own health and your LOs.

same here, coke always helped my sickness!!

Just wanted to say same here too, just had one earlier today. Feeling sick all day with an awful tast in my mouth and fizzy drinks seem to help somehow x

Fat Coke was one of my pregnancy cravings.

have it but try some alternatives. i drank gallons of coke when preg and now none at all. in my last trimester i ended up with an inflamed stomach lining from the coke drinking which was really painful and make me spew lots.

things to try, ginger beer, fizzy water, diet lemonade, tango etc its the bubbles - they make you burp then it releives the gas on your tummy making you feel sick

coke is sooo fatty - you will have to get that weight off - believe me i know! also try and avoid diet coke - even better for nausea because of the asparatane but it will make you mental - numerous thread on here enlightened me.

ginger tea was quite good for me for nausea

Drink it - hopefully, it'll only be for a few weeks.

I bought the little bottles, less volume than a 330ml can.

Have ice and a bit of lemon with it, at leasy you'll get some vitamin C with it!

drink it, BUT make sure you use extra willpower to stop sodas as soon as your morning sickness is over as 1) this is not good for you/ baby and 2) you do not want to put on excessive weight cos losing it is gonna be a tough job no matter what they say!

As has already been said, if it's working for you, go for it!

So long as you're not chugging it by the gallon, I don't think you need to worry about it making you the size of a house - 'full fat' coke, as it's affectionately known, doesn't actually contain any fat at all; just quite a lot of sugar . Obviously, lots of sugar all day long, every day is definitely NOT A Good Idea, but in the interim, to 'get you throuh the day' a can here and there (I'd even say once a day given hopefully you'll only have ms for about 8 weeks) isn't going to wreck your body or teeth. Bear in mind it also contains caffeine, but again, in moderation you'll be fine.

Just be happy you've found a solution to the nausea, give some of the other sugestions a try incase they work for you too... and ditch the guilt! There's plenty of time for that once the baby arrives

I'd drink regular coke over diet coke - diet's just a cocktail of chemicals.

Just be careful with how much caffeine you consume as it can lead to miscarriage or low birth rate.

If it hits the spot then have it.

You can get caffeine free coke...that might be better?

Tango and extra strong mints (not together though)
