40+10 today with 1st baby induction booked for saturday. i have tried anything and everything to kick start the labour including sex, eating loads of pineapple, cleaning, rushing round and even boxing and zumba on the x box kinnect Smile ive had two sweeps. midwife said im 1cm dilated and fully effaced, have been for 2 weeks now and she surprised that i have gone into labour. is there anything more i can do before the induction as i would prefer to avoid it. any advice would be appreciated.

OOH, good luck with everything. Very soon you will be holding your baby! Let us know how it all goes today!

beebee1978 · 15/01/2011 19:01

Have been given a pessary at 3.45 so had to stay in bed for an hour. I can have another one 6 hours later at 9.45 but midwife said it all depends on if there busy they might have to leave till the morning. I hope not as I haven't really had any pains, few twinges here and there but thats all. They did put me on the monitor and said that I am having some contractions but the machine does not tell you how strong they are.I couldn't really feel that much. So it looks like babyboy will not be coming out tonight.

MissTFied · 15/01/2011 20:55

Oh good luck! I can't wait to hear your arrival news! I hope it goes as well it possibly can.

mandy1978 · 15/01/2011 21:09

i was 40+11 with my last and i bet i am the same again this time. people are asking why i am not feeling tired with this baby (am almost 36b weeks) but i kind of think i will go two weeks over so in fact have 6 weeks to go.. why worry about something so far away!!

bet it comes early now..

the days drag dont they, all i can say is the anticipation makes it more exciting when they do appear, and the nerves go as you just want to get cracking after a while!

xx

mandy1978 · 15/01/2011 21:09

Hope you manage to get some sleep. Hospitals are not the best places for that IME.

Wishing you patience and strength. So exciting!

Am jealous, I'm 36 weeks (nearly) too, and fed up, even though I've got ages to go.
Soon you get to meet your boy bundle!

MissTFied · 15/01/2011 21:20

mandy1978 (are we all born in '78?!) - that is exactly how I am approaching it. I too am 36 weeks and so think I have another 6 weeks to go.

I just know I will get anxious though! I won't be able to help it. I probably secretly like all the build up and anticipation...

beebee1978 · 16/01/2011 14:55

Thank you all for your concern. I have had 3 pessaries now and am in pain but still cervix is not more than 1 cm dilated since I last saw doc this morning. They said next they will break my waters if they can but they dont no when. It's a waiting game now.hope you are all well.

Just checking in to see if there's any news. Hope you are doing well and have your baby in your arms

beebee1978 · 18/01/2011 06:10

Hello all :) thank you all for u kind words.baby boy no name yet :)was born on Monday 17 th 7lb 12 oz at 10.28 am and he is fine:) I will tell you about the labour. I went into labour Saturday night but full labour didn't kick in till sunday at 630 when I was then moved to delivery. Unfourtuanly a water birth was out the question as I needed 3 prostin pessaries to start labour then needed to have my waters broke.so that classed me a high risk. Had gas and for a few hours but was so so tired so had an epidural, must say they are very good apart from the fact that for some strange reason it blocked most the pain apart from 1 area in the crease in my leg/ bikini line. My midwife was crap to be honest so just wasn't in the mood I think but in the morn staff changed over and this lovely midwife took over. Straight away when I told her the pain in my leg was so bad I couldn't feel the contractions and she wanted me to push so she turned me on my side and topped up my epidural, she told me sometimes depending how your position is when you have top ups of epidural sometimes they can miss an area out. I be back and he's crying xx

I'm back :) so once they sorted that out the rest of the labour went ok. Because I had an epidural they had to use a ventouse to get my boy out but the whole time he was fine monitor showed no distress. Had to have some stitches but that's fine. It's true to say that you forget about the pain once you hold your baby in your arms. Hopefully we can go home from hospital today my dp is having a spring clean in preparation of are return. Must say dp was absolutely brilliant from start to finish thu labour.

How are you all doing in your pregnancies ? :) xx
