29.5 weeks, pains every 15-20 minutes

They last for say 30-45 seconds, very tight, uncomfortable & heading towards painful.
Have been in bed for a few hours resting, had paracetamol, and got a warm (not hot) hot water bottle. DH is running me a bath now.

It has been going on for about 5 hours now, but not getting any closer together. It has happened before but not lasting this long.

I lost a bit of my mucas plug on boxing day but was told it was fine and it would refill?!

The last few days I've been losing more discharge (or wee ) than usual but assumed that was the little one getting heavier.

I am seeing the midwife and my consultant tomorrow afternoon.
Would you wait until then if nothing else happened/got worse in the meantime?

might just be braxton hicks.

are they getting painful/more painful?

if you're worried then call the midwife, or head to the hospital. far better to get checked out and find all is ok than not to go and something happens

dont want to panic you but i would call the hospital. my best friend had those pains last week at 27.5 weeks and was diagnosed with a urine infection and sent home- 2 days later her waters broke and now a week late r at 28.5 weeks she has a premature baby. dont want to scare you just better be sae- sounds like that "discharge" may b waters leaking?

I'd call the triage midwife at your maternity hospital for advice asap. They'll ask the pertinent and relevant questions.

They have been getting more painful in the last hour and a half to where I wince / hold my breath. My back is really aching constantly with it.

sounds too much to be braxton hicks... have you called the hospital/midwives?

Don't wait - it is just not worth it. They are always happy to see you and happy to send you home if it's a false alarm but if not then you need immediate medical care. I am not trying to alarm you but this is your baby and you must find out what is happening. Thinking of you.

Ditto. I've had strong BH's but it sounds like more than that.

Go to hospital.

This is what I had, though the pain was in my legs. It was too late to stop labour when I got to hospital and I had my baby at 33 weeks.

I had been in labour for 2 days though - 5 hours and they may well be able to stop it.

Hi all, I have been admitted to the maternity ward for monitoring, contractions still coming. Cervix still closed thank god but they're not happy that they haven't managed to stop things. So another round of drugs and quite probably steroids to come.
White blood cells and keytones in my urine but further test showed no uti.
So just having to wait it out at the moment.

Thinking of you.

I was admitted twice at 32 and 34 weeks with bleeding.

Had steroids and approx 4/5 days of monitoring. I'm now 37 weeks and the hospital managed to keep it under control.

Hope the same happens for you.

Well contractions now about every twelve minutes and slightly stronger. Just about to get drugged up and sleepers. Seeing Mr big wig consultant again in the morning, also going to be shown the nicu and meet one of their doctors "just in case".
Though my cervix is still refusing to give which is fantastic and gives us more hope that it can be stopped in time.

Hope you are okay. At nearly 30 weeks and with steroids on board, little one should do well, even if birth imminent. But I will add my good wishes to others' that baby stays put. Let us know how things go.

Just wanted to wish you luck and second what Emoo says, your baby should do well at this gestation. I had my DS at 27 weeks and he's fine. If things continue and you have any worries or questions about premature birth and life in NICU ask away. Or you could check out the bliss website at bliss.org.uk, lots of useful info there.

Wishing you all the very best. Baby has excellent chance if born early. Facilities for prem babies have improved vastly over the past decade and so you will be in good hands. xx

Quick update, had steroids, more in morning. Contractions showing no sign of stopping but my cervix is doing very good at being stubborn and remaining back and closed. Though little man now engaged so they're keeping a closer eye on that now as his head will be pushing on it.
Still trying to find an infection as I'm presenting so unusually. My pulse hasnt gone lower than 115 and is usually up around 125.
Having a scan in the morning to check for kidney stones and to check my placenta.

Good luck. Even without steroids at 29+ weeks baby would have a good chance, with steroids even better.

Infections in pregnancy can be funny things. I eventually went into labour with an infection which had obviously been there for weeks. However, I had been tested (blood, urine, pulse) three or more times a week, plus temps several times daily to check for infection and no signs were ever found.

Hang on in there, sounds like you're doing great and you're in the right place.
