Were you sicker when expecting a girl than a boy?

Just curious! I am expecting my second baby. I was really sick with my first (a DD) but have hardly been sick this time except a bit of nausea in the first couple of weeks. With DD I was still feeling very sick on a daily basis until week 23 at least.

About the same amount of sick with both tbh - DS was first and I was sick daily from about 7 weeks to about 13 weeks. Started maybe a week earlier with DD but stopped around the same time.

I felt sick 24/7 for the whole 9 months with DD, and had little sickness past 12 weeks (although on/off bleeding) with DSs. However I suck at being pregnant so wouldn't class myself as having average pregnancies! Smile

expatinscotland · 27/12/2010 23:08

nope. sick as a dog with all three of them (2 girls, 1 boy).

sharbie · 27/12/2010 23:08

yes

ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/12/2010 23:09

Was much more nauseous with dd than 3 ds. Never threw up with any of them though.

itsawonderfuldarleneconnorlife · 27/12/2010 23:34

yes

Simmylou · 27/12/2010 23:43

Ooh! inconclusive but erring on the side of, overall, possibly more sick for a DD than a DS. Only 30 more weeks to find out (unless I crack early and find out sooner!)

I was wondering similar, if different women get sicker/less sick with different genders.

I was as sick as a dog with my DS's (3 of them) until well past 20 weeks, even leading to me being knocked over by my horse as I had to stop whilst taking him to the field to throw up with DS3 at around 20 weeks.

I was quite sick with twin DD's, but not as ill as I had been with my DS's and it tailed off by 12 weeks.

Now pregnant again and at 12 weeks am nauseous, but nothing like I was with DS's. We plan to find out the gender, so we'll see. Will be interesting to know.

Not very sick with first, felt terribly sick with second. Everyone told me it must be a girl the second time. It was a boy both times.

I honestly don't think the sickness has anything to do with the gender.

rubyslippers · 28/12/2010 01:41

Yes - MS much worse with DD

Blackletterday · 28/12/2010 03:42

Yes! I had full on nausea with dd and then about 4 weeks of full on vomming with dd, stopped about 16 weeks. Had no nausea with ds1, although a couple of random vomming incidents with ds1 around 20 weeks.

Although one sis had a girl with no sickness, the other had a boy with hyperemesis, so maybe it's an individual thing.

oftenpurple · 28/12/2010 04:34

Sick as anything from 7 weeks until about 20 weeks with both DS and DD. Hospitalised twice with DD due to dehydration and in ER on a drip several times with DS. I think it's more how your body responds to the pregnancy than the gender.

goingroundthebend4 · 28/12/2010 04:45

Sick and mean really sick with Dd from about 8 weeks right up to 35 weeks when she was born .In and out of hospital drips the lot they tried every antisickness they could give I. The end dr said sorry nothing more can do just keep you hydrated

ds( have 3) bit of sickness up to 12 weeks then fine .

goingroundthebend4 · 28/12/2010 04:46

Oh and all the mideifes kept saying I bet this one is a girl

ben5 · 28/12/2010 06:44

was sick for a couple of weeks with ds1. wanted to eat savory things and went of marmite.
ds2 wasn't sick and wanted to eat sweets all the time. i even went back to liking marmite!
didn't find out with either so ds2 was abit of a shock. thought i was going to have a girl because i carried so different!

Scouseem · 28/12/2010 07:42

Nope not for me. I have a DD an DS an now having another DS and had worse morning sickness with this monkey.

lal123 · 28/12/2010 07:45

nope - had 2 DDs and no morning sickness with either

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/12/2010 07:57

I was a little bit sick when carrying DS.
Now expecting number 2, and I have bad morning sickness, weeks 6-10 throwing up several times a day, often unable to keep anything down.
So I am convinced it is a girl!

gorionine · 28/12/2010 08:13

No, I was sick for 7 month with DD1 but not sick with the other 3 (2 boys 1 girl) I decided I was sick the first time because my body was not used to having another life insideSmile

purepurple · 28/12/2010 08:20

No, was sick every day, all day for the first 6 months with both DS and DD.

BreastmilkDoesAFabEggnogLatte · 28/12/2010 11:27

Will let you know. Not hugely sick with DD, far more so this time, with gender as yet unknown...

bethan37 · 28/12/2010 13:34

I am exactly the same as when i was pregnant with my dd so if people feel the same is that the same sex then? I keep saying its either me carrying a girl or me just being pregnant lol
