Were you sicker when expecting a girl than a boy?

Just curious! I am expecting my second baby. I was really sick with my first (a DD) but have hardly been sick this time except a bit of nausea in the first couple of weeks. With DD I was still feeling very sick on a daily basis until week 23 at least.

I wasn't sick with DS.

I wac very very sick with DD.

itshappenedagain · 28/12/2010 13:43

yes. with DD was sick so much for the first few months that i was nearly hospitalised as i was so weak. with Ds felt a bit sick but was fine although SPD with DS ( first preg) and none with DD. i also carried completely differntly with Ds and DD Ds was weight on all over, and bad skin. DD was huge bump, couldnt tell from the back and lovely glowing skin. congratulations!

schroeder · 28/12/2010 13:50

Sick as a dog with both, maybe ds slightly worse.

midori1999 · 28/12/2010 15:31

TheSecondComing, thankyou. It's complicated, but so far all seems so good, just trying to stay positive. Smile

dd.. violantly ill

ds1.. barely sick at all

ds2.. so sick i lost weight and couldn't eat for 5 months

so gender has no relevance with my MS!

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 28/12/2010 15:54

Yes, definitely worse with dd than with ds.

Another clue: I was less hairy than usual when carrying dd (ie. had to shave legs and armpits much less frequently) but completely the opposite with ds.

Having a girl first and then a boy is just FAB!

SummerRain · 28/12/2010 15:59

Oh... and ds2 is the only one whose blood group I know and he's o+ just like me so that wouldn't have been a factor in my case.

TheUnmentioned · 28/12/2010 16:00

i had hyperemesis with ds, not with dd

merryxmaswidow · 28/12/2010 16:02

I was the other way round, no sickness with DD, major nausea with DS

midori1999 · 28/12/2010 19:30

That's interesting. I was thinking yesterday I hadn't shaved my legs for absolutely ages and should probably make the effort soon. Blush They aren't very hairy at all though and I have noticed not having to shave my underarms as often too. Wierd!

Thanks again, TSC

3 boys, 1 girl - worst sickness with girl - very little with boys

BertieBasset · 28/12/2010 19:33

DD is was fine, but hairy Grin

This one (17 weeks gone) I have been sick as a dog so who knows!

BertieBasset · 28/12/2010 19:34

i was fine, and hairy - not dd!

Simmylou · 28/12/2010 19:44

I also hardly had to do legs/underarms with DD but seem to be doing them more with this one! Looks like that also could point to a boy. I don't mind either way a DS or DD, but I love to speculate!

I wonder if it has more to do with having had previous pregnancies? I was hardly sick at all with DD, but now expecting DS and had awful sickness.

yummytummy · 28/12/2010 20:11

had awful sickness, vomiting most days with ds last time. this time have had hardly any sickness at all and still feel surprised at being pg and able to eat! but dont know if this one is dd or ds yet so will have to let you know!

JuneBugJr · 28/12/2010 20:20

Had hyperemesis in first pregnancy and had a DD.

Now 20 weeks with DC2, hyperemesis again until 16 weeks, now have lingering sickness. This pregnancy has been worse sickness wise, so it should be a DD2 if theory is correct. Will update next week when I found out next week!

mathanxiety · 28/12/2010 20:30

Really sick with DDs and DS, though with DS I had to take progesterone suppositories as I had had a series of mcs before getting pg with him and progesterone therapy was prescribed. I don't know if it was the extra progesterone that kept me just as sick with him as with the DDs.

It usually lasted with me from 5-6 weeks until about 30 weeks. Not mush actual vomiting, just a lot of horrible gagging all day every day if I even opened my mouth wide enough to speak, and the constant feeling I was going to barf, extreme sensitivity to smells such as the meat counter in the supermarket, and a deep desire to curl up into a ball and let life pass me by.

ballstoit · 28/12/2010 20:33

Much more sick with DS than either DD, although I wonder whether that was partly that I had more time to notice and whinge about it Grin.

jojosmaman · 28/12/2010 20:53

Yes!

sh77 · 28/12/2010 22:39

Period of sickness was shorter but more intense with ds than dd.
