Thanks for the tips, we'll keep our eyes peeled. I'm hoping for a girl, but only half seriously for the rubbish reason that I can't think of any boys names that feel right.

I might have a google for images to get primed for looking out for boy/ girl scan appearances.

MSSD · 02/04/2011 15:41

Hi all

Just joining this thread- I am due on the 23rd September. I live in Brixton London and know lots of pregnant mums but few near me- I think I look like a bit of a weirdo hoovering near preggers women trying to make some new friends. Am not showing yet either- makes me even more suspicious.

I have elected to have baby No 1 at Kings london so any feedback would be welcome. Am very excited but now I am over tiredness and sickness sometimes nearly forget I am pregnant, no flutterings yet either! feel like I am starting to nest though! obsessed with reorganising and planning at moment!... will look forward to following this thread.

Glimmerberry · 02/04/2011 16:06

Hi MSSD, you must be a few weeks "behind" me. Seems like just moments ago I wasn't showing then, all of a sudden I've got this pot belly that I can't suck in!

MSSD · 02/04/2011 20:27

Honestly Glimmerberry- I had a bit of a pot belly before- so it's still the same. The baby is growing into it and I guess all that throwing up in my first 12 weeks means on balance I look the same! Am a bridesmaid at the end of the month and hope i look preggers and not just porky! I'll wait for the pop- maybe some easter eggs will help!

candr · 03/04/2011 18:22

Got to show off bump (bit paranoid I just look like I have eaten a good meal)at mothers day lunch with mine and MIL who were both very excited. Was nice not to have to cover it up as school still don't want parents knowing till they know who they are replacing me with - might not have a choice by Easter!

MSSD · 03/04/2011 20:31

Really- I teach and my school have not even thought to mention anything of the sort- are you in primary?

fabcurls · 03/04/2011 23:15

Hi All - just been catching up on your news and hi to the new joins.

18 weeks today and next scan on 21st April.

Who knows if I've felt it move yet or not!! Not overly concerned though as MW said this week I should feel it by 24wks.

At the point of still feeling fat rather than pg and getting a bit frustrated that my wardrobe options are decreasing! thank goodness for leggings. I did discover that our local dress agency (where they sell clothes on people's behalf) do have some maternity wear, picked up a pair of Isabella Oliver trousers for £13 - bargain Grin! bit big though at the mo as I discovered at work last week when they started to drop down when walking about!

Catch up again soon.

candr · 04/04/2011 17:50

Hi MSSD, yep in primary but very small school and other full time KS2 teacher pregnant too also due in Sep so half teaching staff will be leaving, our parents will panic a bit if we don't have a solution but it is getting hard to hide it, I know they will all be delighted for me though so quite looking forward to them knowing and will open up my wardrobe range - big cardi getting a bit warm now.

recklesspixie · 04/04/2011 19:47

my tummy was gurgling like mad this morning, like to think it was the baby but didn't feel anything!! 16+2 and on the lookout!!

CBear6 · 04/04/2011 20:37

17+1 here and definite flutters and gentle nudges, nothing massive yet though and it's not consistent yet.

I'm sure with DS (my first) I began to feel flutters around 18/19 weeks and definitely at 20 weeks - at the 20 week scan he wiggled in screen and I felt it. DH didn't feel him until about 25/26 weeks though.

Dualta · 05/04/2011 11:42

hi all hope everyone is well! I have been very quiet but lurking a bit. 15 ± 5 and still getting sick sine 7 weeks although seems to be waning, anyone else had it this long?! Need reassurance. So lovely to hear stories of scans seems a very long wait to ours 11 may! Any tips on managing the wait?!! Best wishes to all x

ssmile · 06/04/2011 21:01

HI dualta I was told by MW that the placenta take over around 16wks which is when lots of women start to feel less sickly and more energised. This has been the case with me this time and with my first DD. However I still get bit naueous when I get very tired or very first thing in the morning (I 18wks+5d) so managing it with little and often food. Hopefully you will feel better soon.

CBear6 · 06/04/2011 22:09

I second the idea of eating little and often, it works wonders. Giving in to cravings helps too, I find I stomach foods I'm craving better than others although I'm 17+3 and my sickness is now only when I'm over-hungry or over-tired.

Not all cravings are good though - I'm currently craving all things garlic, I probably stink but my nose is so blocked that I can't smell it!

Dualta · 07/04/2011 07:36

Hi ssmile and CBear* thanks for the words of wisdom, 16 wks today and haven't felt sick for 2 days now - cautiously optimistic! Looking forward to being able to enjoy life a bit now that the sun is coming out! Hope all are well.

CBear6 · 07/04/2011 19:54

I've been enjoying the sun too much and got burned :( everyone I was with though didn't catch any sun so must be a weird skin thing making me burn faster. Will be digging out the Factor 50 next time.

Have also had a horrid, gripey pain all day. Can't decide if it's trapped wind or some sort of pulled muscle from the wave pool at swimming yesterday (those waves are strong!). Having awful paranoia that everything is going to go wrong because it's all been textbook this time round but Peanut seems fine, a few flutters etc.

Whinge over :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the fact that Spring seems to have finally sprung!

jammyscone · 07/04/2011 23:28

So pleased Spring is here! Makes such a difference :)

Glimmerberry said " I'm hoping for a girl, but only half seriously for the rubbish reason that I can't think of any boys names that feel right." - I'm exactly the same! It's weird that when I think of men I know their names seem alright for them, but I can't think of saddling my own child with any of them! :D

I'm apparently due on 21 September, by the way. I think it will be a bit later than that myself.

vallinnapod · 08/04/2011 14:00

Hi all!

I am due on 4th September with bub #1. Little IVF miracle so been very paranoid (and still am!). found out he was a he at a scan last week and am now counting down the days to my 20 week scan (at 22 weeks!) on 4th May.

Think I have felt him move but still look full rather than preggers Grin

ssmile · 08/04/2011 20:35

Hi vallinnapod congrats I'm due on the 3rd Sept and have felt some movement this week mainly weird ohh what was that feeling. I really hope your little miracle does ok. Miracles do happen my sister stopped trying after years of problems, moved to OZ and 3mths later preg had her little DB at age of 40! He is 3 now. Fingers crossed all our 20wk scans go ok.

Our scan is next week. I little nervous one because we hope to find out what sex it is but with my DD 4yrs ago our 20wk scan was badly handled. I was merrily lying on the table when sonographer went quiet said oh think something is wrong. I need to get this checked. We were left for the longest 5mins of our lives wondering what it was. My DH and I are quite chilled out people but it was horrid. We got handed a photocopied sheet in the waiting room in front of everyone else this is the problem it said have a read any questions talk to your Dr goodbye! Turned out her kidney tubes were not quite formed right (not life threatening problem but needs monitoring), I had another scan at 37 wks all looked ok and she was checked 3 times in first 12wks of life all ok. Thank god I had a friend who is a midwife she calmly reassured me it was prob all ok and they pick up loads these days on the scans, she was right!

recklesspixie · 09/04/2011 19:11

Welcome Vallinapod !

CBear your skin is more sensitive during pg, but you're meant to tan easier, maybe the burn will turn brown??!

Bought some maternity clothes today which is good cos I was living in the same dress with different scarves but Im unhappy with the maternity jeans, they are too big on the leg . I wanted skinny tight ones like I'm used to wearing but the lady convinced me that maternity jeans are different and I had to be comfortable blah blah blah but now that I'm home I'm raging I didn't stick to my original ideas. 1st pregnancy, living in a VERY rural place (I'm not from here originally) so I wasn't sure of myself. Now I'm stuck with two pairs of jeans I don't want, from a tiny boutique that doesn't do refunds and is an hour's drive on bad roads from my house Sad think it's online shopping for me now on!!

Dualta I'm 17 wks today and feel much much better, like CBear I only feel sick if I'm overtired or hungry. Hope the 2 days of not feeling sick has turned into 4 days of not feeling sick!

I'd like a boy, I think that's only because I feel DH would prefere a boy, he keeps referring to the baby as he, the baby was jumping around in the scan and DH is convinced it's a sportstar in the making so I said oh do girl footballers make much money these days? Wink he said he'd be delighted either way and I know he will but still......

ssmile · 09/04/2011 19:50

I think most dads secretly want a boy but my DH is fab with our DD neighter of us had a clue about the huge rush of emotions you feel when they hand you YOUR baby its just plain weird! To be honest I feel more nervous about having a boy this time as I think I kinda of know what to do with a girl this time! Its so silly as they are all babies but boys do play different need different types of attention as they get older but deep down I think we all just want to get to the end and have a happy ending with our precicous cargo.

ssmile · 09/04/2011 19:54

I live in East Devon end up doing internet shopping all the time now for maternity. But i ordered jeans last week, they turned up yep on the baggy side and fell down so sent them back for a smaller size hoping they will fit better. Plus having a nightmare with Bras, bought 3 new ones 6 wks ago and now none of them fit properly as seem to have had yet another growth spurt. Just ordered 3 more and only 1 fits again. I use figleaves (with free rtns) as I am a rather large 40G-42FF now and still growing ugh I hate this bit. My sister loved this bit as she was only a A cup to start with lucky Sod!

joshop · 10/04/2011 17:14

Hello All, I'm due on 29/9. FET IVF pregnancy after 5/6 failures (DS born 07). I've convinced myself it's a DD. Good first CVS results and waiting for rest next week.

Have obvious bump already so need maternity clothes. Accidentally gave away comfy Blooming Marvellous jeans last time. Dorothy Perkins awful as are Red Herring. Both have big waist band but no adjusters and keep falling down - seriously uncomfortable. Any suggestions?

Glimmerberry · 10/04/2011 17:33

In the last few days I have suddenly begun to look properly pregnant. In those maternity jeans with stretchy pocket bits. Nearly 19 weeks now so hoping this is normal and I'm not heading for either a 11lb whopper or full on obesity!

Can't say I have an awful lot of movement but definitely feel that odd popping or rush from in there when I'm still, usually lying in bed in the morning.

I'm finding maternity trousers big too, bought some size 10s yesterday which have plenty of room for growth, yet I'd normally be a 12-14. Also very long in the leg too, and I'm not short!

recklesspixie · 10/04/2011 17:48

Glimmer I agree about the long leg lengths on maternity jeans, what's with that? I mean I'm average height and NONE of them fit, this is the least model-like I've felt in my life yet they expect me to have model- length legs Confused

CBear6 · 10/04/2011 18:18

Tell me about it! I got some from Peacocks with a 39" leg which normally fits perfectly and they were completely covering my feet! I've seen a website with fairly reasonably priced stuff on a website called Bon Prix but I'm a little dubious as I've never heard of them before. I'm also finding that different shops vary in their sizings which is very annoying.

I feel like I didn't have such a bump at this stage with DS, I'm properly sticking out today. DS was 9lb 3oz at 40 weeks with a 37.5cm head so worried about another big 'un. The midwife said it's a possibility but my consolation is that second (and third, etc) babies often arrive slightly earlier than first babies so I might deliver at 39 weeks this time instead of 40 and therefore the baby might not be quite so big. She also says it's impossible to predict though. Bah! A friend of mine is of the opinion that big babies are easier to deliver though because it gives your body something to get behind so you can really push. She's a bit dizzy like that.
