lol - no rom - all it is is now DH isn't promoted we need to buy monthly the big stuff and babies r us have a sale on (don't they always!) so was gonna buy the stuff this month and ask next door to keep it in their spare room. (half price is too bigger bargin for me - just got to hope it's on for another 2 weeks.)

romilly · 07/10/2005 16:29

very prudent munz i am partly holding off because we are trying to sell our place without it looking too cluttered

i had a showdown with my boss yesterday - and told him he's been a difficult bugger!

Nemo666 · 07/10/2005 16:29

munz we are reusing the cotbed for the baby and the matress..however we wont be able to use it as a bed because I tripped over and fell onto it so its a little weaker now...pmsl. It was part of the urseyr set from argos for about £300 superb value as its all being reused for the baby.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 07/10/2005 16:32

munz - get the cot through the army - save the money for what you REALLY need.

OP posts:
munz · 07/10/2005 16:35

well I did think about that JM - but as MIL is after a big item to buy (my mums gettin the pram as that's £300) we thought we'd go halfs with her on it then just get little bits and bobs. depends thou what she sys - if FIL doens't like the idea we'll go army.

munz · 07/10/2005 16:36

(did u see my email quickly JM?)

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 07/10/2005 16:37

Friz, make sure you take a book, it's a long wait for the 2nd blood test.

Ah, Rom, you have made me feel so much better. Everyone else seems so organised and I'm so not. Looks like you have the same idea as me, one big shop, do the lot. Hope the baby doesn't come early though

Cadmum · 07/10/2005 17:21

JandB and Munz: Will the army provide a cot for baby? That is amazing. That would certainly never happen in Canada but probably because we are too close to the USA and law suits are always a worry...

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 07/10/2005 17:22

yep - we have got 2 army cots - 2nd hand cots but brand new matresses.

Fantastic service because without them i would have had to buy 2 cots now!

OP posts:
Cadmum · 07/10/2005 17:24

I also need to have the gestational diabetes test done but only because everyone does here. How absurd the things that differ from area to area. My babies have all been on the small side and I have never had sugar in my urine so I am sure they could save themselves a bundle by not testing women who are obviously not at risk... I had forgotten how much fun it was waiting around the hospital for the second test. Can you all picture me there with 3 children in tow... Oh, the joys. I keep praying that DH will hear about the permanent positions ASAP but they haven?t even drawn up a short-list yet.

Cadmum · 07/10/2005 17:25

JandB: AMAZING! Are they wooden? Does the army provide other furnishings for your house?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 07/10/2005 17:28

Yep, wooden cots. Absolutely lovely. We also get 1 stairgate, a playpen, fireguard through them.

THey will furnish the whole house if thats what you want, but the other stuff is quite old and crappy.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 07/10/2005 17:34

WOW! I am impressed. I will have to double check before I put my foot in it but I am nearly certain that the CF do not have a similar offer.

Cadmum · 07/10/2005 17:35

Munzie: Go for the Army option and save your pennies for the stuff you need to buy!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 07/10/2005 17:36

it just makes life so much easier - especially when we move around so much. We leave the cot in the old house, move to the new house, and there it is all built and ready to go with brand new mattress!

Jess has had 3 new matresses in 14 months!

OP posts:
Frizbe · 07/10/2005 17:51

Crikey Munz, yeah! get the army to get them in!
Rom glad your feeling a tad better bar this am {{{Hugs}}}
George really, OMG that'll be fun with dd in tow...

Cadmum · 08/10/2005 04:13

Oh why? Oh why am I not in BED? I am so tired but I am glued to this chair. How lazy is that?

Just hung up the phone with DH and he had me in stitches with ridiculous suggestions for baby names. Shan?t share any at the moment until I am sure that they are really ubsurd and not at all likely to names of MN children.... (Too tired to decide at the moment).

My parents sold their house (for double what they paid for it 12 years ago) so I took advantage of their happy mood and told them that I am pregnant. Felt rather like I might have felt at 16 with the same news.... How little nearly 2 decades has changed our relationship! They were neither nasty nor overjoyed. I feel much better now that they know.

Really must drag my bones to bed. My hips are really sore and I vaguely remember feeling this when I was pg with DD. Anyone else feeling this or could it be related to falling down the stairs the other night?

Nemo666 · 08/10/2005 09:45

cadmum falling down the stairs..are you ok????????? Could be starts of spd mine started as little aches in hips and pelvis. I know what you mean about telling parents when I told my mum she said somethig alog the lies of pg 3 times in two years..i replied with well we did loose a baby but then again dont you oly have a 15mth age gap between my sisters

Munz agree with others about army cot hun especially if it is likely you will be moved ask dh mum for something else like to make up a basket of bedding or contribute to the nappies you bought..or to the bedroom furniture apart from the cot????? Sorry about your dh promotion I know how the money thing is and when you want that little extra just to ease things...you will cope though hun believe me at the min this baby will be livig on all adams seconds and hopefully cheap formula from health centre..lol

JABM well its sat so happy b day to your dh but where is this little tyke..lol

Hello to everyone else.

Am just sitting in anticipation of a visit from my mother with Adams bday presents..we dont get on so hopefully it will be short and sweet..lol Then have a friend visiting this afternoon..quite odd to be busy on a weekend as dh is always in work and its just usually like any other day for us as everyone else seems to have family stuff to do..they are only visiting cos they want to see Adam..lol Cant believe he is 2 on monday..seems to have gone over soo quickly I was crying last night watching a programme because it showed the dad teaching his little girl to ride a bike and then what seemed like days later she was driving off in a car...dh has told me i am so hormonal and crying so much he should send me to africa to cure the droughts

george32 · 08/10/2005 11:30

Nemo, at your mums insensitive comment. What a terrible thing to say.
I hope you are feeling better esp with the visit today. {{{{{hugs}}}}

Well done for telling your parents Cadmum

Rom, how are you feeling today? I'm thinking that you are having a girl as they are supposed to make you feel much worse than boys.

dramaqueen72 · 08/10/2005 13:20

yes but ALL of mine (and i have both boy and girls) made me very sick. (sorry rom, sorry yore being sick I mean, not sorry if might be a boy!)

talking of predictions.......i see you with a boy george, dont know why! are you going to set up an 'expectnet' game? I can place my bets then!

dramaqueen72 · 08/10/2005 13:22

cadmum, glad you told the parents btw. sorry they werent more positive but at least its done now. my mother is being about as tactful as a brick right now so agreeing with everyone on insensitive mothers being nighmare... do you think our dear bumps will be talking about us like this in twenty years time?

george32 · 08/10/2005 13:38

Yep, I see me with a boy too DQ. More boy films, more football, more wee on the toilet seat!!
At least they are easier as teenagers!

Love the expectnet game DQ, I think I will set one up later today when I'm trying to hide from the sleepover crowd.

Cadmum · 08/10/2005 14:05

I only have a moment before I head out for the day but I wanted to say to DQ that as much as I hope that our children will not speak about us in the same way that we speak about our parents, I suspect that they will...

dramaqueen72 · 08/10/2005 15:25

easy? as teenagers? oh PMSL! you wanna borrow my 13yr before you say that again george?

cadmum, I know, its quite sad isnt it? i do hope to make more of an effort tho, to be 'there' but not in their faces, and to be bloody tactful around pg ladies!!!!
