i was the same i had a girls name picked out from day one and when we found out it was a boy it was so hard to find a name. when i was 38wks people were asking whats he called and i would reply i have no idea, but they would say you have had 9 months to decide!! well not really only about 4! our problem was every name we liked it was already taken as we have large families it was between kyle and declan and the minute he we saw him it was declan.

chrissi · 29/09/2005 19:27

Any comments on Rowley for a boy.

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:28

erm....how would you pronounce that?

Row as in an argument or row as in row row row your boat?

Reminds me of Roley mo! - sorry!

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:32

Boys names are sooo much harder I think.

My 2 are called Zack and Kai. Zack was the only name I really liked and Kai came about from hearing someones cousins name. He was gonna be a Jake up till he was born!

golds · 29/09/2005 19:43

favourite name is Elliot

Jenum71 · 29/09/2005 19:47

Yeah we liked that too.

Also Ethan (which is a middle name!)

If I had another boy I wouldnt have a clue what to call him!

If I had a girl it would have to be Daisy (Daisy Donnelly?!)

rodeo1 · 29/09/2005 22:45

I have a ds Joe - Joseph Emrys (Emrys is dp's very Welsh name!),

and if this one turns out to be a boy it will be either Henry Thomas or Charles Thomas.

Also really like Reuben, but I have a cousin Joe and a cousin Reuben so it would relly look like I have no original ideas of my own!

Nbg · 29/09/2005 22:53

I love Sterling. Theres a lovely mumsnetter whos gorgeous son has this name

I also like Reuben.

My great great grandad was called Barnabus Christmas! If you fancy something different!

cori · 29/09/2005 22:55

I dont like any boys names either. They are sooo difficult.

My DS is Kelsey.

Tortington · 29/09/2005 23:51

EZEKEIL lovely name

Rachey1969 · 30/09/2005 15:17

What about Byron, not sure myself...

kim5145 · 30/09/2005 16:00

If I have a boy next he wil be Jack, after his great grandad, and because i have always loved the name.

dinosaur · 30/09/2005 16:12

My new nephew is called Lucas Emilio...

Enid · 30/09/2005 16:13

I have a lovley friend called Byron

and also Heathcliff

Jenum71 · 30/09/2005 16:22

I'm not sure about Byron - reminds me of Byron Wordsworth from Story makers!?

Jack is a lovely name, but it was v popular when I was pg and I wanted something a bit different. Think its nice to be named after a family member though - my ds1's middle name is George after his grandad!

Jenum71 · 30/09/2005 16:23

Heathcliff? hmmmm i'm not sure about that at all!

Imagine the looks you would get calling him when out and about!?

Rachey1969 · 30/09/2005 17:48

I really love Jack but it is so popular and has been for so long, kids in school end up being Jack D or Jack T or even Jack P Smith or Jack R Smith. Not fair! It even goes well with my other kids names!

PeachyClair · 30/09/2005 18:01

As a Claire in the '70's, I would steer clear of OT common names!

Ishmael is my name for today, mainly coz I had a lesson in Jewish Studies this AM!

harpsichordcarrier · 30/09/2005 18:20

Enid, please nooo with the Heathcliff. I knew a boy at school who was called Heathcliff and he was 1. blonde, 2. weedy and 3. extremely short. He really did have a very hard time.
It's like calling your girl Grace as well - what if she, you know, isn't?

newmumhelp · 30/09/2005 22:36

Ds is called Kieran. He was going to be that, or Oliver, Benjamin, or Daniel

Think we picked the right one!! Good luck in your search

sansouci · 30/09/2005 22:43

Kevin. hiya, Kev!

sansouci · 30/09/2005 22:48

or Humphrey.

chrissi · 01/10/2005 13:59

Rowley... pronounced
Ruley

Cabe · 01/10/2005 14:21
