Hi - is anyone having a hard time in their pregnancy ?? I am 13 weeks pregnant and after having DD1 I have continued to read books that say I cannot eat peanuts, liver, pate, strong cheeses, shell fish etc and I am well down in the dumps and absolutely craving for them all !!! NOW !!!!!

OP posts:

Yes Yes Yes!!!

I was trying to explain to DH last night what a craving feels like - was saying its like when you know what you really fancy for dinner, but then its imprinted on yuor mind so you never completely stop thinking about it!

I'm doing ok with most of the no-nos, but my main issue is - I'm craving sushi I have no idea why, I've never been a big fan, but I want it sooo bad! I have been giving in on the shell fish though (mainly because I forgot about them til you mentioned it).

I have an extra one though - milk in pregnancy makes me ill, so I am desperately wanting milk, and can't have it

Soooo.... ARGHHHHH for food

TinyGang · 18/09/2005 11:02

I am not pregnant but remember so well the agony of not having the things I love to eat (once I stopped feeling sick that is).

I think it makes you crave it all the more especially seeing others around you enjoying them. I clearly remember so missing soft cheese, peanuts and a nice G&T!

Try and treat yourself to as much of the yummy things you are allowed, and promise yourself a feast as of all the forbidden things when the baby is born

munz · 18/09/2005 11:03

he he I was doin well witth my I wants etc until last night DH said ooh I might have a nice soft runny egg bloody git and Gary rohdes was doing on on tv so now all I want is a nice full english with a nice runny egg urghhhhh! only another 26 weeks to go! will make it all worth it

Nemo1977 · 18/09/2005 11:04

yes me too am 27wks and all i want are choc covered peanuts..but cant because I have asthma and allergies..grrrrrr

flamesparrow · 18/09/2005 11:08

I completely forgot about the runny eggs with DD - I had been going for a cooked breakfast most Saturdays with my mum, and it didn't even occur to me It was only when I was about 38 weeks, HUGE, and a waitress brought my breakfast and told me "We assumed that you'd want your egg well done because of the baby", that I remembered!

I was impressed at the service though - most places wouldn't have cared.

munz · 18/09/2005 11:08

oh M&M's choccy nuts - I have one or two thou and thats enough for me - can't wait for a nice cheese cake either or a twister ice lolly! - all on my DH to bring me after birth list!

munz · 18/09/2005 11:08

FS - u mean I can have runny eggs? will it taste better for waiting? he he he

flamesparrow · 18/09/2005 11:10

Lol - you can have them if you have forgotten you can't

Methinks if I carry on like this, I'm going to be forgetting about the sushi soon!

Nemo1977 · 18/09/2005 11:12

oops are we not supposed to have runny egg????????????? EEK

munz · 18/09/2005 11:12

LMAO - oooh well if thahts the case then I might have to forget about eggs when I go out with DH - now to get him to forget! why is sushi bad?

flamesparrow · 18/09/2005 11:15

Apart from there being nowhere to get it from round here (although somewhere like M&S probably have it in the food section), I was guessing the whole shell fish/raw fish thing would be bad.

Some people have said its not allowed, some have told me it is.

I'm all confused, and DH is insisting that if I don't know, then I shouldn't have it. He's already stroppy about me "forgetting" that I have to order well done steaks, until after I have ordered medium rare and the waitress has gone He's brighter than he looks, he wasn't fooled by it after the first time

Nemo1977 · 18/09/2005 11:17

no twisters????????? o well im stuffed then..lol

munz · 18/09/2005 11:17

lol - ah yes the steak thingy - not too fussed about that - like mine chargrilled!

is it true u shouldn't drink too much milk after 12 weeks as the baby gets even bigger quicker? (thats what my boss reccons althou he's 77)

Nemo1977 · 18/09/2005 11:19

munz im a big milk drinker and was with ds however he was 9lb 1 oz but 15days over so if the 7oz a week thing is right would have only been 8lb 1 which i think is normal.

flamesparrow · 18/09/2005 11:22

Lol @ milk! That sounds like complete madness

Drank gallons for the first 30 weeks with DD (before I realised that it was that that made me ill), and she was 8lb 5oz, and a month over due, so she should have been fairly diddy.

Is he going with the concept of milk growin bones, so you'll have a baby with very solid bones??

munz · 18/09/2005 11:24

yes I think so, that and also to scare me into drinkin less milk! he he hopefully we'll have a tiddler one.

flamesparrow · 18/09/2005 11:25

You people need to drink lots of milk, or the cows will be offended.

They already have me snubbing them

munz · 18/09/2005 11:27

LMAO!!!! as long as it's not cravendale - I don't want the smelly cows following me to get it back!

Frizbe · 18/09/2005 11:27

Load of tosh Munz! carry on with the milk, its good for both of you!
