I have just had my 20 week scan today and we did not want find out the sex. But while she was showing us a close up of the baby, it rolled over and opened its legs and I am sure there were boy bits!!! DH says I am mad as I am not a trained sonographer, and she didn't say either way as I said I didn't want to know ... now I am obsessing about it, I wish I hadn't seen now!!!

So has anyone else felt sure they saw boy bits and were right or wrong Grin.

I could have written this post as exactly the same thing happened to us. Can't wait to hear the replies...!

FaintlyMacabre · 07/10/2010 20:07

We didn't want to find out the sex but both came out of the scan saying 'Did you see that ? Shock.

20 weeks later DS2 was born Grin.

roundthehouses · 07/10/2010 20:08

if it looked like a willy i´d say it was probably a willy. You could see our ds´ very clearly - dh said - A BOY! - before the sonographer did Grin

smokinaces · 07/10/2010 20:08

DS1 was obviously. Honestly. She was doing the thigh measurements and I burst out laughing because it was that clear. Even she laughed, and at the end asked if we wanted to know the sex as she was over 99% sure of it - I said so was I now as it was that clear!!

DS2 I didnt see anything and was convinced he was a girl, but no the sonographer had seen something I obviosuly hadnt!

dont forget though, clitorises can be swollen in the womb, and umbilical cords can look willy like!

Wholelottalove · 07/10/2010 20:16

Same thing happened to us and sonographer said (rather quickly) 'oh that's the umbilical cord'. We'd told her at start we were really keen on surprise this time round. With DD we asked to find out and I remember being baffled when sonographer was pretty sure it was girl as I couldn't make out anything, it was so grainy. I have to say, the shot we got of our current baby seemed much clearer! We'll see when he or she is born in December :)

wigglybeezer · 07/10/2010 20:20

I saw a willy at 13 weeks with DS3 and I was proved right!

StrangewaysHereICome · 07/10/2010 21:35

Thanks everyone - oooh so long to wait to find out for sure! All I can say smokin is that if it was a clitoris, is was a big one Shock. I just keep thinking him now, and I am going to feel most odd if its a girl (not that I mind either way!)

Feelinhip how sure were you?

I saw nothing between my twins' legs and I was right!!

claire196 · 08/10/2010 09:31

At our 20 week scan there was no mistaking his huge little willy!! We both saw it and new it was a boy before the sonographer told us. I suppose you never know though unless trained. Good luck!

bundlebelly · 08/10/2010 09:36

Yes, I didn't want to know last preg but couldn't help knowing when I saw boy bits!

This time round, we did ask, but didn't really need to again!

blue22 · 08/10/2010 09:51

Ok - I'm obviously not that great at Biology, because in my 20wk scan I saw 'definite' willy and testes etc. A bit of a surprise when DD was born!! Grin

DetectivePotato · 08/10/2010 10:10

You could blatently see what it was between DS's legs. Either that or he was giving us the finger, it was very clear.

Have been told this one is a girl and there wasn't anything there, I'm pretty sure it is a girl this time.

StrangewaysHereICome · 08/10/2010 16:07

Ah blue22 that's what I am wondering - we'll see!!

strangewayshereicome - put it this way, if I were to have to go out and buy all pink, or all blue, I would definitely be going with the blue...good luck with the rest of your pregnancy anyway and we shall both have to make sure we come back on to reveal the results!

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 08/10/2010 17:18

I'm with blue22... I was sure I saw a willy on DD! Be careful...

Jojay · 08/10/2010 17:20

I saw a willy on DS2 and was obviously right, but my neighbours were convinced they were having a boy after they thought they saw willies etc, but their DD arrived.

Don't count your chickens.......... Grin

pencilpotmonitor · 08/10/2010 17:33

I thought I saw testicals with DC2. They were labia Grin

pencilpotmonitor · 08/10/2010 17:50

Grin
Maisiethemorningsidecat · 08/10/2010 17:52

I saw testicles too, but it was the willy between them that gave the game away Grin

Purplebuns · 08/10/2010 17:54

I saw DDs girly bits, we wanted to know anyway though, it was funny I saw a clearer picture of her bits than her face!

racmac · 08/10/2010 19:05

I definately saw boys bits on both scans - they were both boys - never told anyone though - I didnt want to know

Ishtar2410 · 08/10/2010 19:16

DD (3 at the time) came with us for our 30wk scan (we had to have a growth scan). We'd asked not to know, but she came out with "look at his willy...look, look!".

Sonographer laughed it off - said it was the umbilical cord. In all honesty we couldn't see what DD was looking at...

DS was born 10 weeks later.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 08/10/2010 20:25

I had scan this week (22 weeks) and my DS was actually pointing to his, ahem, rather large bits. My OH saw it before me as I was a bit tearful but there was NO mistaking it when the sonographer pointed it out. My OH said, poetically, that it looked like the cartoon penis' you see boys drawing on their school books Blush

neverenoughMEtime · 08/10/2010 20:26

I saw DD2's girly bits before the sonographer told us :)

MintChocAddict · 08/10/2010 21:48

We both spotted DS2 bits at 16 week scan. Absolutely no mistaking it.

Spent the next 24 weeks being told by everyone that girls bits swell etc, etc, etc and unless we were trained sonographers couldn't be sure what we saw - blah, blah, blah.

Ignored everyone and washed all DS1 baby boy clothes.

DS2 now 7 weeks old. Smile
