Hi everyone,
Thought I would start a thread for all us mums to be who are due in May 2011 so that we can support each other. xx

Crowette

My sister had the same problem, the hospital test, everything. The doctor told her she was so desperate for a baby she must have had a phantom type pregnancy. 8 Months later she had my nephew. Stay postive, the docs don't always get it right.

pinkgirlythoughts · 18/09/2010 21:28

oh, Crowette, that's awful! Stupid doctor :(

I've told my mum and stepdad, the first people other than my OH to know. When I popped round last night and, for the second week in a row, didn't have a glass of wine, mum asked whether there was any chance I might be pregnant. She seemed really happy, but then started worrying about how on earth we're ever going to afford this baby. Since OH and I have been worrying over this ourselves anyway, the extra worry wasn't especially welcome...

  • sorry to hear that, I know how you feel. Been a bit worried myself about finaacial situation - remember your mum just wants to know you're going to be ok and not struggling - I bet she's over the moon!!

Did a clear-blue test yesterday (just checking again!) But did the one that predicts how far along you are as I'm not convinced my Dr thinks it's still only a week or 2. It came up 3+ weeks which says that means 5+ weeks - does anyone know how reliable they are? I had a feeling I was further along than 1 or 2 weeks!! So confused!! (confused)

babyjanie · 19/09/2010 07:57

Just realised I typed the wrong brackets for my confused face!! Will try again! Confused

ShowMeTheCurry · 19/09/2010 09:23

Congrats to all :o

I'm completely new to mumsnet, but I found out on Friday tha baby number 2 will be showing his or her face in MAy :) I feel lousy, sick , shattered, but delighted :)

Happy days xxx

Good morning everyone,

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and suffering from a horrid cold. Any tips?

Xx

Bonkerz · 19/09/2010 12:58

hi all, im also on the ante natal thread but thought id post here too......am 6 weeks tomrrow, found out 2 weeks ago and MS and tiredness been getting progressively worse. Told family last night as went to a family party where there was a free bar and nothing screams PREGNANT more than a free bar and a sober bonkerz! due 16th May i think although not certain on dates and havent been doctors yet. Am a terrible knicker checker as had 2 MC before concieving my DD who is 4. Both my MC happened by the time i was 8 weeks and i cant decide if i should go docs and get an early scan (had scans with both my MC and both showed heartbeats at 7 weeks and both babies were gone by 8 weeks Sad) or if i should just sit it out till 12 week scan!

lizzyy · 19/09/2010 14:27

VintageLady i feel your pain!
I too have a bloody cold, just plenty of fluids and honey and lemon soothers and good old paracetamol. thats as good as it gets!! xx
Get well soon

Bonkerz i have the same dates as you! I too have not been the doc but think i will venture there this week. re getting scanned early, its down to you, Hope things are more positive this time for you. Smile

Tinwe · 19/09/2010 17:42

Hi All

Congrats to all you lovely ladies. Sorry to hear your news Crowette.

Hope it's OK to join you now as I appear to be a late joiner but I'm actually due in early May... May the 4th (a Star Wars baby!)

It's our first baby and a surprise so hadn't prepared myself for feeling so rotten. I'm nauseous all the time, very tired, sore boobs, cramps, trouble sleeping and bad dreams! Feel guilty that I'm not overjoyed at the moment (we ARE pleased to be expecting), it's just still a shock and I feel so rough. Can't imagine anyone wanting to do it more than once! Don't mean to seem ungrateful though, we'd be gutted if anything bad happened.

We're getting married in December this year. It's been booked for months and I'd already bought the dress, so I guess I'll be looking for a new one - any ideas?

Tiggly · 19/09/2010 20:17

Have posted this on the antenatal thead too:
Hi can I add myself to the list? This is my first pregnancy and our first month of trying. I am about 7 weeks and therefore due on the 12th May if this one sticks! Been having period type pain all day but no blood as yet, has anyone else had this? I am desperately trying not to stress! Hope you are all well,
Tiggly xx

Tinwe · 19/09/2010 20:29

Hi Tiggly

I've been having cramps for the last 3 weeks and no problem as far as I'm aware. Keep seeing it written that it's a good sign of the uterus expanding or something similar.

Tiggly · 19/09/2010 20:37

Thank you so much for replying Tinwe, I have been stressing out so much! Will still be paranoid until something happens one way or another, or I have a scan to tell me all is ok! Wink I have huge sore boobs as my only other "symptom", what about yourself?

LabMonkey · 19/09/2010 20:40

I'm pleased to hear that nothing's wrong with my boobs not hurting so much. Can't wait to stop throwing up several times a day. Only my DH and a couple of very close friends know - can't face telling families yet.

Where I live you book your own scan so I'm doing that on 25th Oct but I still can't get in touch with a MW.

Got my first cold which I can't take drugs for which is not fun so I'm off to bed :)!

Purplebuns · 19/09/2010 20:43

Hi! How many people are having a baby in may on mumsnet?! loads of us!

I am about 8 weeks a long, a bit of a shock as we were trying for only a month and I took a test that evening just to see if I could drink at my wedding,(the next day) you could have knocked me down with a feather when it was +ve! Anyway I was able to wrap the test up and give it to my very new DH as a wedding present :o

Tinwe lots of us have had cramps early on on the antenatal thread, if you go to the beginning of it, I think we were all complaining and worrying at one point!

I will try and catch up with this thread and see how I do at keeping up. :)

Tinwe · 19/09/2010 20:45

Ah well, I think I shouldn't have read the list of symptoms, 'cos before I read it I felt fine (the news of my pregnancy was a shock)and now I feel like I have almost everything! I echo your sore boobs and cramps, but raise you constant nausea, vivid dreams, trouble sleeping, hyper smell-ability (not sure what the phrase is) and tiredness (though with the other symptoms it may just be down to them).

Don't worry Tiggley all sounds normal (not that I'm an expert a this is my first too)! I should count yourself lucky, the other symptoms may kick in soon but if not maybe you're just a lucky one. Symptoms don't always mean good news anyway. I'm due about a week earlier than you and shouldn't moan really, could be much worse!

Tinwe · 19/09/2010 20:49

Congrats purplebuns on both your good news!

Tiggly · 19/09/2010 20:55

I can get over the length of the list of names that are due in May 2011!

Tinwe thanks for helping to put my mind at rest! To know others have been / are going through the same as me is reassuring! I was extreamly tired the first couple of weeks (when I wasn't aware I was pregnant) thinking back, but trouble sleeping I have definately!! I daren't read the list or I would be sat there mentally thinking tick, tick, tick!! Smile

Purplebuns I told my husband on a big birthday for him, thanks to a card created on moonpig! It showed my positive pregnancy test with the statment, "yes it's mine, I peed on it....." then waited for it to sink in! It was a few days between me testing, and his birthday so the screen would have gone blank on the test by the time he would have opened it on his birthday!! Grin

Tinwe · 19/09/2010 21:07

Wow Tiggly how did you keep the secret that long?

Tiggly · 19/09/2010 21:11

I was ready to burst! It was a big brithday and knew he would love the surprise so I desperately had to keep it secret! It was very difficult! Worse was I had trouble trying to hide it from my best friend as she knows me inside out, which was worse than waiting to tell my dh! Thankfully they were with us on his birthday so I could tell them all together!

Tinwe · 19/09/2010 21:13

Well done. Don't think I could've kept it secret... would've been an early present!

HappyBL · 20/09/2010 10:50

Hi all, this is my first Mumsnet. I found out last week i'm pregnant, THINK due in May but have no idea until I have a scan - want to join the celebrations with fellow Mums!

we feel particularly blessed as I've had 1 period this whole year, we thought we were heading for fertility treatment and potentially never having children, I've not used contraception since July 2007.

I am so unbelievably excited, but trying hard not too get too excited in case something sad happens. No bleeding so far, only light cramp, enormous breasts (i'm normally a 34AA, I've been waiting for these all my life :-) ) and SICKNESS. not actually being sick, just constantly nauseous. The only thing i can do to fend it off is eat, constantly. It took me two hours to get out of bed and i've had to skip work today.

it's worth it all
Fingers crossed
xxx

Tinwe · 20/09/2010 11:32

Congratulations HappyBL what good news when you were expecting the worst! Smile What made you do the test recently - did you have any pregnancy signs then?

I understand the worry about things going wrong... the statistics seem scary if you read too much. I've got similar symptoms and I'm off work today too!

HappyBL · 20/09/2010 13:44

Thank you Tinwe, it's reassuring to know someone else out there feeling the same (even though the symptoms suck).

Only took the test because my boobs had been sore for over a while and i'd had a very spotty forehead.

Have you told any friends or family yet? are you going to tell work soon or wait for the scan?

Tinwe · 20/09/2010 13:54

We decided to tell only close friends and family but it's not worked out that way. I had to tell someone at work because I felt so bad, and then they let it slip to others, and then they said I should tell my boss for risk assessment reasons and he wanted me to tell other people for risk reasons and his boss told people 'cos've politics etc etc

Also told a couple of people in my drama group 'cos I was supposed to be moving scenery etc and then they let slip to others 'cos they were excited etc etc...

I suppose the way I see it is that they'll all know if something goes wrong and it might be harder to tell them the good news and then the bad anyway.

Don't think family approve of telling people but it just worked out easier when I felt so awful. Hope I did the right thing!

Marwoir · 20/09/2010 14:20

Hi Ladies, please give me some reassurance!
First docs appointment on Friday, she reckoned I was 6 wks. I'm getting cramps on my left side only - they're occasional, have had them for a couple of weeks, and they feel a bit like tugging or indigestion. Sometimes quite a short sharp pain.
Because they're on my left side, I'm getting increasingly worried about eptopic pregnancy. Stupidly forgot to ask the doctor on Friday, too many other questions. Now she doesn't have an appointment free until Thurs.
Is it a massive over reaction to go to A&E? (Sure it is, but I've managed to freak myself out now.)
What should I do? Help! x
