Pregnant and Tall - why are there no trousers?

This could easily be on the AIBU thread.

Is it unreasonable to be both pregnant and tall. I can get normal long length trousers and I can get pregnancy trousers but the pregnancy trousers stop half way up my shin!

I've been forced to come over all girlie with skirts and dresses instead. Does anyone have any recommendations. I am 5'11'' so tall but not a complete giant!

Have you tried Next Maternity?

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/09/2010 12:27

I am 6 foot. When I was pregnant I either (a) looked like sinbad the sailor with trews flapping 2 inches north of ankle or (b) dressed myself in the most hideous denim pinafore known to man.

Mind you I was pregnant 15 years ago, I hope to god for your sake things have improved.

I normally hesitate in recommendinh the ghaslty and crap Long Tall Sally but am sure they do a pregnancy range.

mum2oneloudbaby · 02/09/2010 12:37

try Noppies (warning they are pricey) but the best maternity trousers I have ever bought, so comfy. I am average height but had to have half a leg cut off they are so long. They don't do leg lengths just really long!

Although I did buy mine in The Netherlands that might have something to do with it Grin.

vinvinoveritas · 02/09/2010 12:39

Mamas & Papas have long length trousers.

Appleton · 02/09/2010 12:45

I'm the same height, and have been living in my Next maternity trousers - they do long length.

I ordered over the website as couldn't find a Next shop with a well-stocked maternity section. They were only £22, too.

coraltoes · 02/09/2010 13:04

Zara does maternity wear now in some stores and lord knows their trousers are very very long!

Divejaney · 02/09/2010 13:10

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Maybe on-line is the way forward as when I go into the shops they never seem to have any long-length in stock (there must be lots of tall people buying them all).

I've not really bought without trying on before, but needs must :)

I'm 5'10" and Mothercare long length fitted me xx

tablefor3 · 02/09/2010 13:13

Am same height and wearing (ankle length)TopShop maternity trousers as we speak. Otherwise Long Tall Sally do a vv small range of mat trousers.

Divejaney · 02/09/2010 13:34

Am currently wearing the one pair of long length I found in my local Mothercare - in a size smaller than my usual size as that was all they had!

Hi, I'm the same height and the only place I can get fashionable maternity trousers and Jeans is Topshop Maternity . Next only do the long length in maternity not the extra long I normally get so that is probably out as an option for you as well.

sanielle · 02/09/2010 13:35

I'm tall as well, Doroth Perkins do maternity and tall and tall/maternity.

Actually I find their talls can almost be too long.. I am quite tall but suspect it's all torso and stumpy legs Grin

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 02/09/2010 14:05

I am nearly your height and have a pair of jeans from M&S that are a couple of inches too long for me to wear flats with. My GAP jeans on the other hand are to short.

StripeyMoon · 02/09/2010 14:12

I'm 5'10" and found H&M to be quite good, got some really long trousers in there for both my pregnancies. Also not as pricey as M&Ps or long tall sally.

sedgiebaby · 02/09/2010 14:14

Gap and Next (extra long) Isabella oliver do a long length also. I've got a 34 inch inside leg and the Next XL do it for me.

PDog · 02/09/2010 14:18

I'm the same height and can get away with a 33 inside leg. If you are the same, next or mothercare should do you - not much choice in store though I found.

VotePedro · 02/09/2010 14:20

Isabella Oliver trousers are really long - I'm 5ft 9.5" with long legs and I normally have to turn them up (or let them drag along the floor perilously) also uber comfy though not cheap. They often have deals on and you get 10% off with Mumsnet I think.

ILoveDonaldDraper · 02/09/2010 14:24

I am 5'11 and next long length maternity trousers fit me fine. One of my pairs of black work trousers from their long maternity range is if anything a bit too long!

Divejaney · 02/09/2010 14:26

Think I have weirdly long legs!
My normal jeans are the New Look 36 inch inside leg.

StripeyMoon · 02/09/2010 14:32

36"?? My husband is 6'5" and wears that length! Grin

FunkyMonkey1983 · 02/09/2010 14:32

I usually need a 36 inch inside leg but the maternity/long Dorothy perkins (which are only 34 inch) fit me but then again I've only been wearing flats since I got pregnant.

FunkyMonkey1983 · 02/09/2010 14:34

Oh, and I don't like most of the stuff from Long Tall Sally but the yoga trousers (not maternity range) are good because the waistband is huge and stretchy and they are so comfy! Plus, they come in a choice of 34 or 36 inside leg.

Divejaney · 02/09/2010 14:45

My husband is also 6'5" and I've got longer legs than him.
Aesthetically great (supposedly) - but for practicality, rubbish!

But have lots of new options to try so thanks everyone :)
