Hi,

I have been lingering around the boards for quite a while (been on the chat boards etc for the last couple of years) as I never dreamed I would ever get a positive result (long medical history!) but my period was late and we have been actively "trying" so did a test this evening!! I am in shock, expected shock, but still a reality wake up call. The test says 1-2 weeks. Holy cow. Want to burst and announce it to the world but will wait! It is my husbands birthday in a couple of days so going to keep it a surprise until then for him!

PickleSarnie · 01/09/2010 20:49

Congrats! Never again will a stick with your wee on it make such a brilliant birthday present!

bellabelly · 01/09/2010 20:54

Congratuations Tiggly! How are you going to tell your DH? What a lovely bday surprise for him. Grin

bellabelly · 01/09/2010 20:56

PS - if you are thinking of showing him the test stick, just be aware that the digital ones go blank after about 24 hours so you'd need to do another test beforehand!!

Tiggly · 01/09/2010 20:57

Well that was going to be my next question!! How on earth do I tell him? Do I present the lovely peed on stick? Do I announce it in the card? Any better ideas ladies!! Help!! Also, do I wait until 3 months to tell the world? I just want to burst!! Think I said that already Grin Grin Grin Grin

Bugger, just re-read your second post bellabelly and I hadn't considered the screen going blank!! Durr. I have a spare one so could present a fresh one for him!! It is a big birthday for him so it will make a fantastic present!!

how about buying him a baby names book
How on earth are you going to keep it from him fir 2 days???
congratulations :o

Tiggly · 01/09/2010 21:14

Try another 12 days!!! I will probably explode by then!Tis going to be the hardest test I have put myself through in a long time!! Baby names book is a good idea but maybe a bit too subtle...

I took a picture of mine on my phone, cos I wanted to keep looking at it..lol You could even take one on ya camera and have it developed and put it in card as a nice surprise! Grin

Tiggly · 01/09/2010 21:24

Thats a brilliant idea! Will have to sneak back up stairs and retrieve it from where I have hidden it! Fab! Thank you!

Your welcome love :o) xx

PickleSarnie · 01/09/2010 21:30

Oooh, a card is a good idea. Moonpig.com lets you upload photos and put them on cards. Would save handing over 12 day old pee on a stick!!

suwoo · 01/09/2010 21:32

Was just going to suggest moonpig. Would be fantastic!

Congrats. Best thing ever Grin

Tiggly · 01/09/2010 21:37

Fantastic, will have to get on to moonpig! would be a memorable card, but not as memorable as a 12 day old stick that wouldn't tell him anything anyway!! Thank you!

PaulineCampbellJones · 01/09/2010 21:38

Beats the dripping with wee stick I handed my DH! Moonpig is a fab idea.

Tiggly · 01/09/2010 21:44

Sounds lovely PaulineCampbellJones!! I would love to tell him but want to save it, I have to manage for 12 days!!Argh! Grin

JudyPink · 01/09/2010 21:55

Congrats Tiggly! Moonpig is genius idea - shall have to remember that one! Smile

MissCKitty · 01/09/2010 23:06

Congratulations, nothing better than a bfp when you thought it wouldn't happen. As for telling DP, I just walked into the lounge and handed him the test complete with drips (like pauline)Wasn't sure what else to do lol

japhrimel · 01/09/2010 23:10

I walked in and told my Dh the test had 2 lines, that was it.

Until the scan, I wouldn't tell anyone that you wouldn't definitely tell straight away if you had a miscarriage. So IMO telling close friends and family (on a "keep it quiet") basis is fine as you'd tell them if you had a MC anyway. But if it all goes wrong, you don't want people you rarely see to be asking how the baby's doing months down the line.

It may sounds negative but it's speaking from experience.

Congrats btw!

Tiggly · 02/09/2010 21:32

Thanks for the advice japhrimel, that sounds like a good plan. Have to be careful who I tell as there is a job hopefully coming up that I really really want. Immediate family and friends only until the first scan.
Thanks everyone.
Tiggly

i did something similar, i put the test in an old bracelet jewelry box and wrapped it up and gave it to him on christmas morning Grin

sanielle · 03/09/2010 10:31

Thats so exciting!! But not to rain on your parade... you'll never keep it secret for 12 days!! grin
