Hi,

I have been lingering around the boards for quite a while (been on the chat boards etc for the last couple of years) as I never dreamed I would ever get a positive result (long medical history!) but my period was late and we have been actively "trying" so did a test this evening!! I am in shock, expected shock, but still a reality wake up call. The test says 1-2 weeks. Holy cow. Want to burst and announce it to the world but will wait! It is my husbands birthday in a couple of days so going to keep it a surprise until then for him!

sanielle i actually found out at 3 weeks ( 21 day cycle)due to previous mc wanted to wait til had viability scan!! not as difficult as he works away most weeks!! Even parents don't know yet, i see them every week and am currently 14+1 !!!!!

sanielle · 03/09/2010 21:53

You're a better woman than I am! I would go mad!

Tiggly · 03/09/2010 22:46

Good grief Sam26oscar that is impressive! I am bursting to tell my husband and best friend but know it will make his birthday really special!! I am counting down the days until I can actually tell him!

Stupid questions possibly, but when do I go to the gp? Is it too early? At what point do you have your first scan? Lots of questions but can't ask anyone without giving the game away!

TIA

Go to the GP now, tiggly. They'll probably do another test to confirm then book you in with a midwife and she'll book your scan. x

aw tiggly that's lovely news... actually my digital lasted a lot longer than 24 hours til it went blank - but can't remember how long tbh.

Most GPs/surgeries are a bit blase about pregnancy - IME it would be unusual that they do another test. They usually just take your word for it (HPTs so sensitive these days) book you in with the midwife from about 8/9 weeks, and then your first scan for approx 12 weeks (if nuchal testing offered in your area it's from 11 weeks to 13+6) ... but different areas DO do things slightly differently.

Good luck - hope all goes well for you. Enjoy being pregnant - it's a great journey!

How abut buying him a "Daddy" birthday card? I told my mum and dad by getting them a grandparents Christmas card. It took my dad several minuted to figure it out while my mum and sister were jumping up and down!

congrats - I have just got a faintish positive for DC2 and am v excited but won;t see DPs parents for 6 weeks so probably have to wait til then to tell them. Hope all goes brilliantly. I loved being pregnant the first time - it is lovely - like being engaged, everyone makes a big fuss of you all the time!

Thanks Trixie123, congratulations on number 2! I am bursting at the seams wanting to tell people but I daren't until I have told dh! I have sorted his birthday card on a combination of themes thanks to moonpig!! I took a photograph of the positive result and uploaded it on to a card with a message beneath it! Can't wait to see his face next week!! Grin!
