I am 23 weeks + 2 days and have gained around 1 stone 10lbs. Considering the fact that I actually lost half a stone in the first trimester, I must be putting it on fairly rapidly.

How is everyone else doing?

38wks and getting on for 3stone. I don't look huge though, so not really sure where it has gone....

yama · 26/07/2010 09:50

I'm 36 weeks and have put on just over 2 stone. Well, maybe more than that.

All bump and boobs though. My legs and bum look tiny in comparison.

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 26/07/2010 09:58

I'm 28 weeks and have put on 6lbs

But I haven't been that well, and I was a porker maybe a little overweight to start with.

MrsSnaplegs · 26/07/2010 09:59

21 weeks and am half a stone lighter than pre pregnancy - lost 10lbs in first 6 weeks from MS and not being able to eat. Have not been able to put the weight back on even though I am eating 3 proper meals a day (cooked breakfast , sandwiches/packed lunch and 2 course evening meal)Scan last week says everything is normal and DS to be is "appropriate size for gestational age". I have a very obvious bump but am loosing weight elsewhere for some reason, MW not concerned last week. My new maternity trousers I bought for work are now falling off my hips and bum

Alicetheinvisible · 26/07/2010 10:06

Apparently if you are overweight pre pg you will put on average 1 stone, if you are average then about 2st, and underweight then 3st.

I have no idea how accurate this is though. A friend who is a nice shape but average build/bmi put on 5st and her baby was just under 7lbs. She looks back to normal now easily and her DD is only just 2

2plus2more · 26/07/2010 10:26

31 weeks with twins and I have put on 12lbs. I lost about 5lbs at start of pregnancy so only about half a stone above my pre-preg weight now. I was probably about a stone heavier than I should have been pre-preg though. Both twins are measuring fine - in fact they are both measuring above average so I'm not worried. I only put on 1 1/2 stones in each of my previous pregnancies and I had 2 healthy babies (7lbs 6oz & 8lbs 2oz). Some people just put extra weight on - others don't. Just like some people have huge bumps and others are tiny. It (generally) doesn't have a bearing on the health of either the baby or the mother but simply is to do with the mother's body and how it responds to pregnancy. Don't Worry!

TheArmadillo · 26/07/2010 10:30

39 weeks and have put on about 2 1/2 stone.

Most of it has been towards the end though (i.e. when I started eating again).

Mostly on belly but a bit on thighs/bum/boobs (as ds likes to point out to me ).

aswellasyou · 26/07/2010 10:48

I'm 32 weeks and have put on 2st 5lb. I was slightly heavier than I should have been before pregnancy so I'm just hoping breastfeeding will suck all the fat back out of me!
My Mum went from 10st to 11st with twins and we weighed more than that together. I don't understand how she managed that.
Weight gain seems so variable in pregnancy that I don't listen to the advice of gaining 2 stone.

BaggedandTagged · 26/07/2010 10:52

33 weeks. Gained 1st 7lbs.

I think a lot depends on water retention as well- I have been really lucky so far.

PassthePercyPigs · 26/07/2010 12:21

34 weeks and have gained 1st 9lb - pleased so far, fingers crossed I don;t put on too much more...

andiw77 · 26/07/2010 17:56

8 weeks and half a stone so far!!! Im eating loads to combat the sickness so hopefully after 12 weeks it'll pass and my weight gain should slow down

cinnamongreyhound · 26/07/2010 18:01

35 weeks, lost almost a stone in first trimester and haven't gained any since. My BMI at booking was 35 so am considered obese, was size 16 before pregnancy and my maternity trousers are falling down a lot now. DH very upset that my bum is shrinking and not growing as it is apparently supposed to in pregnancy.

DomesticG0ddess · 26/07/2010 18:02

28 weeks, have gained 1 stone and 5lbs, probably 6lbs now as that was last week. I think I will probably put on about 3 stone, which is about the same as last time, though I stopped weighing myself, might continue to weigh myself this time, out of interest! Was 9 1/2 stone beforehand and a size 10 generally, so fairly slim, but have definitely put a layer of what I like to call maternal storage tissue on all over. Some of this is obviously for bfing, some is the treats I allow myself when pg and some is the fact that I usually run/work out hard at least 3 times a week, but have just been walking/more gentle workouts.

Not worried, it will go in time and I don't plan on having anymore after this one!

starshaker · 26/07/2010 18:06

36 weeks pregnant with twins and have put on 1stone 2lbs (ducks for cover)

comtessa · 26/07/2010 18:13

So happy to see all the variation! I am 23 weeks and have gained at least 1.5 stone. Midwife not too worried as wasn't overweight to start with but has recommended I go swimming twice a week and walk everywhere to help with future weight gain.

Like you andiw77, I was also eating lots to combat the sickness, have been eating normally since then, but blame the early weight gain on that. Friend of mine lost 3/4 of a stone in the first weekend after having her baby!

comtessa · 26/07/2010 18:13

PS I also don't look huge - apart from bump!

MrsGangly · 26/07/2010 18:21

40 weeks, put on about a stone and a half.

sfxmum · 26/07/2010 18:25

well first 5 months not much at all by the end 4 stone I panicked

comtessa · 26/07/2010 19:53

In case anyone wasn't aware, Weightwatchers have a plan you can do while breastfeeding. I'm planning on doing it as a) you can do it online b) WW worked for me before anc c) it's not just about weightloss, but making sure you eat enough of the right things, including enough calcium etc if you're BF'ing.

daisystone · 27/07/2010 08:40

Comtessa, I think I will look into the WW plan. I have done WW once before and it really worked. They have very sensible 'do-able' plans. I am slightly concerned that I am turning into a whale and know I shouldn't obseses over weight but it is hard not to when you see your whole body shape changing week by week.

comtessa · 27/07/2010 13:34

I know what you mean, daisystone, I'm starting to worry too as have four months to go and have already gained what the NHS see as a healthy total-pregnancy-gain - eeek!
However it is just for BF'ing, not for pregnancy. If you're worried during pregnancy your MW may be able to give dietary advice?

Think I will ask my MW for ideas when I see her next. Stepped on scales this morning and screamed - 13st 5lbs, that's a 2st gain. I honestly don't look that big, except for fairly big bump, and am in size 12 maternity clothes, but still, am bit worried.

smokeybacon · 27/07/2010 13:41

22 weeks with twins and 18lbs on so far. My BMI was 24 which is normal for my height. Its just below what is considered good for a twin pg.

With DS2 I put on nearly 2 1/2 stone. After delivering him a stone of that went immediately. The last 1 1/2 stone took a bit longer......

Dreemagurl · 27/07/2010 14:23

28 weeks and just under 2 stone so far. Mostly in the early days when, like so many, I could only eat ridiculously unhealthy foods to stave off the sickness. Am now eating very healthily and swimming nearly every day which seems to help - I actually lost a whole pound in a week! Hoping not to put too much more on - my bump doesn't look THAT huge and I keep getting told that I'm not very big for 6 months. However there have been several amusing incidences where I forgot how large my ass has become and have knocked things off tables and desks while bending over / turning round
It all disappears as soon as you give birth right...??!!!!!

comtessa · 27/07/2010 15:55

That's what I'm banking on Dreemagurl...

Palace39 · 27/07/2010 15:59

Well you all put me to shame. I'm 37 weeks and have put on 4 stone exactly, however, i'm still in size 12 and 14 maternity gear, and i don't look quite the big fatty i feel i am (although my ass is definately larger!). I was spot on size 12 beforehand.

I've gone through fazes of eating healthily then badly and visa versa, but baby is measuring perfectly and MW not concerned at all that he will be any bigger than average. I also exercised up until i got SPD, now quite inactive.

I was told on another thread by another MNetter that i should only have gained 2 stone and anything over that was due to my overeating and entirely my fault. Charming i thought...
