Daytime 2.5, nighttime 5!

NickMarlow · 09/07/2025 20:26

Dd1, 3y 10m, we had tried so many times before then but she absolutely panicked every time, and then we added a newborn into the mix. Pull ups at night until 6.5

Dd2, day after her 3rd birthday, dry day and night almost straight away. They're all different!

indoorplantqueen · 09/07/2025 20:27

Picked DD up from nursery one day are 2 and 1 month and they said she didnt want to wear nappies anymore and wanted pants and that was it. Occasional accidents for a week then never again. Night time happy stayed on for about 10 months later.

Lavender14 · 09/07/2025 20:27

Started ds at 2.5, we're about a month and a half in and he's doing generally well but still the odd accident and still a bit anxious about number 2s.

One of my was almost 3, had to be done for starting school nursery (summer born) and we’d definitely missed a window, she was really stubborn, didn’t want to do it and it was awful honestly. If I’d waited for ‘readiness’ I think they could well have been one of the reception kids starting school in nappies you read about. I didn’t want to make the same mistake again so trained the next one shortly before their 2nd birthday. It took them a little longer to get the concept and there were more accidents in the first couple of months but I’d take that any day of the battle of wills we had with the eldest.

DD 18 months, DS 1 was 2 and DS2 was 2 1/2 . Never thought he would get it.
DGD was 20 months. She decided herself that she wanted to wear pants and use the toilet. I think she was influenced by the bigger children at nursery.

NatalieH2220 · 09/07/2025 20:39

Both of mine were 2.5 (boys)

ModerateOrGoodOccasionallyPoor · 09/07/2025 20:45

First DS was 20 months dry and clean by day. He got it very quickly. I can't remember what age he stopped wearing night time pull ups, but he would have the occasional wee accident at night until he was five or six. Never had any poo accidents from memory, and neither did the others.

The others I started potty training around their 2nd birthdays at the latest, probably earlier but I can't remember specifically. I didn't have any major issues with any of them. Pull Ups at night were a thing until they were 3.

Totesmagoats · 09/07/2025 20:52

Tried with DS1 at 2.5 but he clearly wasn't ready. Left it and tried again within weeks of him turning 3 and he got it straight away, no accidents at all, day or night. DS2 was 3yrs 2months. He wet the bed a handful of times within the first couple of weeks but then that was it.

incognitomummy · 09/07/2025 20:56

DC1 - boy. Trained himself at age 2. He decided after a couple of weeks that he didn’t want to carry on so he stopped. He did it himself again a few months later. Was dry day and night for over a year. He regressed when we had DC2. Accidents at night regularly every now and again and then all clear at age 7.

DC2 - girl - night trained finally at almost 9yo. Still not reliable in day. Suspect ND. Compounds an overactive bladder problem. Unsure when this will be solved but celebrating night time dryness!!!

welcometotheblackparadee · 09/07/2025 20:58

DD was before her 2nd birthday. She’d just decided she was big and was dry day and night in a week. DS on the other hand was 3 1/2 before he’d even look at the toilet/potty. Took a solid month before he was reliable and was in nighttime pull ups until 5 1/2.

AvidJadeShaker · 09/07/2025 21:01

DS1 and 2 were 2 and a half.

DS3 was 3 and a quarter but it only took a day and then there were no accidents.

Ricecakesaremyjam · 09/07/2025 21:08

DD was 2.5yrs, DS who is autistic was 3.5yrs.

BobbieTables · 09/07/2025 21:13

Just over two for DD and nearly 3 for DS who just didn't seem to care if he was wet or dirty (we started with him at 2.5). Later found out he was lactose intolerant which wasn't helping!!

WhatMe123 · 09/07/2025 21:14

dd1 was about 2 years 10 months and dd2 refused and was about 3 and a half in the end

Baby26 · 09/07/2025 21:14

Just took a couple of weeks at 2 and a half. Some accidents every now and then ofc, but he got the jist very quickly, just didn't like to be distracted from playing sometimes and would hold it too long!

RockahulaRocks · 09/07/2025 21:18

25 months, she was consistently dry after about 3 days and we’ve had few problems since. Nighttime nappies came off at about 4 but she’d been dry for the previous 6 months as she used to take her pull-up off first thing by herself and it took us a while to join the dots.

tedibear · 09/07/2025 21:28

2yrs 2 months lots of accidents days 1 then hardly any after that
2yrs 4 months (we did try previously at just turned 2 it was a disaster 🤣) Had issues with poos for a few weeks, some bribery for a toy sorted that 😀

Icanttakethisanymore · 09/07/2025 22:24

DS1 26mo
DS2 currently 19mo and taking us he needs a poo so hopefully he’ll be ready in the next few months.

justasking111 · 09/07/2025 22:32

First two 2.5 years Terry nappies. Third one nearly 3 disposable nappies. All boys. Did a lot of garden wees.

intrepidgiraffe · 09/07/2025 22:35

2 years 1 month and 2 years 6 months - both boys, the later one was easier

VikingLady · 09/07/2025 22:37

Both were 3 1/2. DD could have done it a year earlier but was more stubborn than me, and DS hadn’t the faintest idea what I was trying to get him to do.

BreakingBroken · 09/07/2025 22:40

15M, 18M, 22M in that order.

legoplaybook · 09/07/2025 22:43

Around 2-2.5 but one struggled with poos until they were 3.

frenchnoodle · 10/07/2025 05:35

2.5 and 3, although my eldest had poo issues well into the school years. He was stuck in a withholding and constipation cycle, then put on a disimpaction routine which takes many months and makes things worse.
