Potty Training During Lockdown!

So now seems like a better time than any and I've decided to potty train my 2yo dd during quarantine! I haven't potty trained for about 10 years and that was with my ds. I've bought her a potty a few weeks ago just to get her used to it but she's still not keen on sitting on it. Any tips please?

Right, there was no overnight poo last night so I am fully expecting a poo explosion at some point this morning... wish me luck!!! Shock

Caz1412 · 19/04/2020 10:18

Thank you, I will stick to joggers and no pants for a few more weeks then see how we go. He’s still bare bummed at home anyway as he sometimes struggles to get joggers down in time.

But my poor sofas this morning, Two large wees on both seats, I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed. I’ve ran out of puppy pads to hide under the throws too 😅 so towells it is!
Both accidents I believe were just due to being distracted this morning even though I had asked two minutes prior if he needed a wee and he said no 😅

fascinated · 19/04/2020 10:19

Hurray! Little one decided he wanted to pee on the big toilet this morning. Great!

fascinated · 19/04/2020 10:20

Oh Caz, poor you! Your poor sofas! I am so on edge whenever he is in the sofa. We have new ones too.... agh!

fascinated · 19/04/2020 10:24

Caz, would you feel uncomfortable just leaving him bare bottomed? Is it warm enough where you are? I found it took a good long time doing that before we could progress to clothes.clothes meant accidents every time so I kept going back to bare bottom. But now having gone back to that a few times he seems to have really grasped what it feels like early enough to have time to remove clothes. Your wee one is only 23 maths too? Still quite young (although I am sure still capable).

fascinated · 19/04/2020 10:24

Ah sorry just reread your post...

TwistyHair · 19/04/2020 12:18

@babycornplease snap. Red alert for poo.

Caz1412 · 19/04/2020 13:01

Fascinated, thank you, yeah he’s bare bottomed at home anyway.

& yes luckily we need a new sofa desperately but I’m glad we chose to wait! After this experience I may even see if they’ll last a few more years till our youngest (5 months) is potty trained too but I would LOVE a comfier sofa! 🤣

Indecisivelurcher · 19/04/2020 13:41

Ds is currently dressed in an all in one batman outfit that can't be machine washed... 😬

Jannt86 · 19/04/2020 13:56

@caz1412 a little cleaning trick I learned after my b&$tsrd cat peed all over our brand new hybrid matress.... along with soap and water white vinegar does a great job of cleaning urine up and removing the odour. Just dab it on with a cloth Smile x

fascinated · 19/04/2020 13:59

Sticking to potty for poo tho.... still, glad it went in potty safely!

I recall that I did do my best to move to the toilet quickly last time - lessckeaning up!

TwistyHair · 19/04/2020 14:26

Successful poo on the toiletttttt!!!!! I’m so pleased

TwistyHair · 19/04/2020 14:26

She didn’t ask to go but we spotted her in poo position on the floor and my husband whisked her upstairs

fascinated · 19/04/2020 14:36

Woohoo! (Also dad involvement .... ;-))

TwistyHair · 19/04/2020 14:54

Thanks @fascinated. I’m unbelievably happy about it. Apparently she was a bit nervous but hopefully now she knows it’s all fine. We still need to keep an eye on her as she’s still not asking to go for a wee or poo at all.

babycornplease · 19/04/2020 15:41

@TwistyHair we just had a giant poo in the potty! Woohoo!!! Poo all round Grin

TwistyHair · 19/04/2020 17:40

Yay @babycornplease. It’s such a a relief

fascinated · 19/04/2020 18:43

Accident again this evening while I was cooking dinner. Noticing a pattern, it’s always at that time when he is shattered. Hmm. He had refused potty tho just before, which he normally doesn’t do.

babycornplease · 19/04/2020 19:51

@fascinated same here... she had a massive wee on the sofa whilst I was trying to make dinner, despite having another poo and wee on the potty! Ugh. Can I just chuck my sofa away after all this as well?!

fascinated · 20/04/2020 09:49

I’ve postponed new carpets!

Indecisivelurcher · 20/04/2020 09:57

Fingers crossed for a nice dry day everyone🤞

FiresideTreats · 20/04/2020 10:21

One accident this morning (my fault, left him alone and didn't prompt). Then a self initiated wee on the potty woohoo! General feeling of progress here.

TwistyHair · 20/04/2020 10:36

We cover our sofa in one of the kids’ waterproof sheets. She asked to go for a poo this morning! Only went for a wee but it’s the first time she’s asked to go to the toilet. So I’m really happy. Hope everyone else is getting on ok too
