When did your periods return? Ebf

I know anything goes really, so just wanted a quick poll of your experiences. I feed my 6 month old regularly- probably every 3h during day but can be 5-6h at night.

The reason I ask is that we would love another baby down the line (not getting any younger and this one took a while to conceive) and I suddenly had a vision of not being able to wean for ages/not being able to conceive.

Thanks! Just a light hearted q....

Just come back at nearly 17 months.
14 months for both my others.

theboud · 27/04/2018 06:51

4 months! I was furious (but also glad we hadn’t relied on ebf as contraception). Was feeding every 3-4 hrs in the day and 5-6 overnight.

8DaysAWeek · 27/04/2018 06:52

Weaned at 19 months as they never came back and wanted to try for another. Had my first period 3-4 weeks after fully stopping.

Ikabod · 27/04/2018 06:52

My periods returned when DD1 was 13 months old, and I completely stopped breastfeeding when she was 18 months old. It took me 9 months to conceive DD2.
I have a friend who is still BFing DC1 and expecting DC2 soon, so you don't need to stop to conceive Smile

No more than a week after the postnatal bleeding stopped. FFS.

Kraggle · 27/04/2018 07:11

I’m 13 months post partum and no period so far.

I did have an implant fitted soon 3 months after the birth but it hasn’t stopped my periods in the previous 6 years I’ve had it so I’m guessing it’s still the breastfeeding that’s keeping it at bay.

eurochick · 27/04/2018 07:14

I was exclusively expressing. I got 16 weeks. My postnatal bleeding lasted for 7 weeks, so I felt rather cheated.

Mannix · 27/04/2018 07:15

With all three of my DC, my periods came back as soon as I went down to two feeds a day (which was at around 10 months).

villainousbroodmare · 27/04/2018 07:17

Only three months after stopping bf, so 17mo (stopped @ 14mo and had been on only two feeds a day for ages).

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 27/04/2018 07:21

5 months PP for my first (BF for 14 months) and 3 months PP for my second (still BF at almost 21 months)

I was not impressed Angry

Ohyesiam · 27/04/2018 07:23

18 months and 13 months.

MessyBun247 · 27/04/2018 07:23

14 months. I day weaned at about 20 months and still feed a few times during the night.

Bowlofbabelfish · 27/04/2018 07:23

After I stopped bf totally at 18m.

Bf certainly had a strong effect on me - my spd didn’t go, my hair fell out well past the normal postpartum levels and my joints were fucked until I stopped. Also ds didn’t sleep until I stopped...

Next one will be weaned considerably earlier!

NewSense · 27/04/2018 07:26

4 months!! And I fed her til she was almost 3 years.... pffff totally not worth it ;)

midnight1983 · 27/04/2018 07:27

4 months, and I was EBF completely. 👎👎

HumpHumpWhale · 27/04/2018 07:30

17 months when I nightweaned my first, and 15 months which was pre-nightweaning.

Yogagirl123 · 27/04/2018 07:33

7mths after EBF

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 27/04/2018 07:34

With dc1 7 months (fed for 17 months in total before self weaning). With dc2, still feeding and they came back at 4 months.

Naschkatze · 27/04/2018 07:35

7 months. Was still feeding regularly but DS was sleeping pretty well at night so maybe that caused it.

Focalpoint · 27/04/2018 07:36

At about 7-9 months on all three when they were established on solids and mostly sleeping through the night. Was still bf during the day.

Kawabunza · 27/04/2018 07:39

I was expressing for the first 3 months, and my period came back 3 months after that.

8DaysAWeek · 27/04/2018 08:20

Same Bowl!! Didn't realise how much it took it out of me until I stopped. How I coped for 19 months I don't know (sheer stubbornness probably). DS was a boob monster til the end though, so maybe that didn't help.

Muse84 · 27/04/2018 08:53

Thanks everyone, makes for interesting reading. I can't believe how different we all are! And it has shown me there's little point in planning things....!

Ds2 is 8 month and only has a tiny bleed. About 3 days. Nothing since that.

They didn't return with ds1 until he was 18 month. We stopped BF at 13 month.

MinisWin · 27/04/2018 09:00

Fed till just short of 17 months and periods returned about 3-4 weeks after that.
