And Thank You all for the house selling wishes! Will post a link to the listing on the FB group.

jabberwocky · 30/08/2010 14:14

ummm, how do I find our group again? I thought there used to be a MY Groups heading somewhere.

jabberwocky · 30/08/2010 14:20

Okay, got it on there. Blush not feeling very web-savvy today!

EasilyConfusedIndith · 30/08/2010 16:59

Hello :)

Soooo tired!

Thursday wedding was great, it was a couple of friends from the university scout and guide group so it was pretty much a massive reunion :) The dcs danced like lunatics and since there are several of my friends that they adore I didn't see much of them.

Saturday more chilled out as was low key, mingling sort of thing so mostly camped out in the room set aside for children and chatted to another MNer.

Sunday was good, being dh's brother there was lots of his family but by then the dcs were just so tired. Poor ds was racing around with his cousin at one point and they crashed heads, the mountain on ds' head is pretty impressive!

Need a quiet week to recover. Counting down til my trip to Spain. I may have mentioned this before but it needs mentioning again. I'm going to Spain! Spain! No children! not one! I am going to sleep! I'm going to have a nice, quiet trip on the train with trashy mags and chocolate that nobody will steal. I will not have to fill my bag with crayons and bubbles and half eaten biscuits. I am going to have a quiet flight with my friend, another adult. We will gossip. Then I am going to spend the weekend in Spain with another friend eating good food, pottering about in a looking at things of interest to adults kind of way and not counting stones and drainpipes. Then I am going to sleep.

Jabber I love the look of your house.

TheDailyWail · 30/08/2010 20:39

Oh Jabber - so sorry about your cousins.

We've had a busy few weeks. I am now an aunty to a lovely little boy. (Can you tell it's the first time I've been an aunty?) He had to go into hospital again last week as he wasn't feeding enough but was out the next day because they had mastered feeding him with a syringe and he had a bit of a boost weightwise. Now dneph has found his groove and is feeding better.

Olihan · 30/08/2010 21:58

Congratulations AuntyDW Smile.

Jabber, vibes duly sent, shame NY is so far, we could club together and buy it as a Dec06 bolthole Grin. Glad the wedding went well - I bet the flight was bliss, wasn;t it?

Indith am so Envy of the trip to Spain. It sounds like absolute heaven.

We went to see my dsis this weekend. Found it a bit of a struggle tbh. Her and her dp are such helicopter parents with their dd whereas I'm completely the opposite with my 3 (by necessity!) so it's quite hard work being there. It was lovely to see her but I found myself having to bite my tongue so many times Blush.

jabberwocky · 31/08/2010 03:05

OMG, the house didn't officially go on the market until yesterday and we have 3 showings booked for tomorrow!!! Thanks for the vibes everyone Grin Grin

oli, I can completely sympathize about the dsis parenting situation. We ran into something similar with the wedding weekend. Much biting of tongue going on!

Indith :( about your poor little ds's bump on the head. I hope he feels better soon and that you all recover from the whirlwind of weddings.

Oh, and did I hear you mention something about a trip to Spain???? Envy

MNTotoro · 31/08/2010 11:26

Hi guys
DD2 had her eye test this morning. Squint confirmed, picking glasses up on Thursday. She is getting these

Jabber - will post prescription to you on fb if you dont mind, so you can tell me not to worry Grin

accessorizequeen · 31/08/2010 12:49

Torturo, didn't realise dd2 had one too? DS2 diagnosed last Sept/Oct and waiting for his 2nd pair of glasses today as he broke them on holiday. I was v.anxious about it to start with but have been reassured by eye people that all ok really, things are improving. Did take a while to get used to him in glasses!
Indith, 3 weddings down phew! Spain sounds delish.
Jabber, sounds v.positive about the house yay!
I was such a helicopter parent with PFB I think Blush Would be still if not for 4 uncontrollable dcs!
Ooh lovely dneph DW bet you're enjoying it!

Who bought playmobil for last birthday/xmas (dec 06 babies obviously)? I want to get some more with tesco vouchers, sadly they don't do camper van which seems the fave on MN but what else is good? We have playground, farm and cowboys & indians. Thinking of something bigger this time. I AM buying all xmas/birthday pressies for my brood before November. Then I can relax in the festive season at last.

jabberwocky · 31/08/2010 13:58

Totoro, have replied on FB and yes, reassurance not to worry :) I think it's a very good thing that 1) her prescription is not terribly strong. In fact she will probably grow out of about half of that by the time she is early teen and 2) the eyes are not terribly different. So I think her brain will start to figure things out and integrate her vision fairly quickly which will greatly reduce or eliminate squint.

MNTotoro · 31/08/2010 14:42

Thanks Guys. I love that I 'know' an optician for reassurance.:)

Playmobil vet range is nice, AQ. X-ray machine etc is sweet and operating table etc. You can get loads of animals to pad it out.

EasilyConfusedIndith · 31/08/2010 14:43

The glasses look sweet. I think AQ's ds looks adorable in his :)

We own no playmobile at all so can't help. I keep thinking it is probably the next thing to get into but shudder when I think of boxes of that stacking up next to the tubs of duplo and brio. Not to mention the lego collection we are already starting to build up.

After about a week of sinuses trying to explode, today I have a thumping headache. I think I'm going ot hibernate this winter. Better all round.

Anybody suggest a good birds and bees, babies, bodies etc book? Ds keeps asking so many questions and gets all muddled up. The latest lot of questioning ended up with him convinced that mummies gave birth to girls out of their holes and he could give birth to a boy out of his willy. Of course I end up exploding into fits of giggles and we get nowhere straightening him out! He very much likes to see exactly how things are so I need diagrams.

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 31/08/2010 17:24

Indith, I'd just show him a diagram on the from net or something. Also very Envy of your trip to Spain. Sound's idyllic.

Gosh Jabber, the house looks lovely. Pity it's so far away! Good luck with selling it.

AQ, I've only got girly playmobil - the garden/fairy/princess stuff. It's an effing nightmare if you ask me - so many little bits all over the place that I regularly (and cruelly) hoover up Grin

Oli, am so with you on the non-helicopter parenting thing. There's nothing like leaving them to it and escapting to the net.

Totoro, aw, glasses very sweet.

DW, congrats on being an Aunty!!!! I am also going to be one in October but as my Dad sagely put it "whether you get to ever meet it remains to be seen". Should be Sad but I'm not really. Am beyond caring about my awful family, so much so I don't even regale you lot with latest stories

castlesintheair · 31/08/2010 17:28

Oooh, posted before finished for some reason ...

meant to end with "anymore" Grin !!!

Also, on the wedding front: am having mad panic shred attack since returning from holidays, tried on cheapo dress and look very bulgy in it. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Can't possibly go shopping before Friday either. Any tips in how to lose half a stone (2 long term) in 3 days extremely welcome!

MNTotoro · 31/08/2010 17:54

castles. starvation is the only way i think Grin Btw, we havent shared ghastly family stories for a while - feel free to fb as I have several updates Grin

DD2 very excited about her glasses which is good.

DD1 back to shchool on Thursday :)

castlesintheair · 31/08/2010 18:24

Have tried starvation Totoro: worked all day but currently eating DC's leftovers [sigh]

Will FB you. Hope you are ok xx

Lenni · 31/08/2010 21:19

I had to google helicopter parent. I'm not sure I have the energy to be one, either way it sounds like hard work.

Will have to hunt out the fb page so can see your house Jabber.

Castles - I once wrapped myself in clingfilm and lay on my electric blanket for an hour to fit into my prom dress. It worked but I got drunk so quick while dehydrated the whole thing ended up a lot more embarrassing than the dress might have been.

TheDailyWail · 31/08/2010 21:28

Your house is lovely Jabber!

Oh the things we do when we are young, eh Lenni?

Castles - I'm still amazed that your family is so horrible to you. You're so nice.

MiniTotoro will look lovely in her glasses.

jabberwocky · 01/09/2010 00:00

Oh, lol, I just googled helicopter parent. I had completely the wrong idea. Thought it was parents who were always buzzing off leaving child with others - which is what I experienced last weekend!

starvation is my diet method of choice, atm. I'm nervous about doing too much physical activity as disc situation is doing much better and I don't want to screw it up again.

castles :( about the family. My brother was very upset about some things (re: his totally spoiled children who take him for granted). He kept saying "I know all families have their issues". But some issues are harder to deal with than others.

totoro, can't wait to see a pic of dd2 in her glasses :)

Thanks to everyone for the nice house comments. Dh built it and it's been rented since just before we got married. I kept thinking we could manage to keep it but property taxes there are just too high.

jabberwocky · 01/09/2010 03:59

OMG OMG OMG OMG! Just accepted an offer on the house Shock

You guys do some powerful wishing over there!

castlesintheair · 01/09/2010 09:36

Brilliant news Jabber Grin

Thanks for nice comments ... I think I am too nice, and a pushover ...

MNTotoro · 02/09/2010 13:42

I insis tou all go on fb and check out dd2 in her new specs :)

jabberwocky · 02/09/2010 13:50

VERY cute! and she looks so grownup!!

MNTotoro · 02/09/2010 13:52

I know! She looks about a year older Confused Part of me has a breaking heart (silly I know) and the other part thinks she looks more adorable than ever Grin
