Oh Indith!!! :(
Also, I may have just missed this or my brainfog has kicked me in, but I gather you are expecting...so big congratulations! I am soooo Envy

EustaciaVye · 03/08/2011 08:08

Aw, sounds tough!

Funny though, I had to go back and read to see Indith's previous announcement (I'd even said congrats) as this felt like a re-announcement....Grin

I was stung by a bee 2 days ago (stood on it) and my foot now itches so much I could scream. aaargh.

jabberwocky · 03/08/2011 13:25

Thanks AQ :) yes, it does seem that being artistic is fairly common among the higher functioning kids/people on the spectrum. Funnily enough, I've started to wonder over the years if dh had Aspergers and he is an artist. We're still waiting for paperwork and appointments to be set up. I'm hoping the OT will start in a few weeks but the assessment will probably be 2 - 3 months down the road. Have NO idea what the cost will be but I don't think it will be anywhere near the quote you were given Shock based on what I have heard from other parents.
Indith, what a horrid night! Isn't it bizarre how much fluid, etc. can be held inside those little bodies??? Ds1 still wearing pull-ups at night. Can't quite bring myself to try it again without one although it really is time I know.

accessorizequeen · 03/08/2011 20:56

oh, dear Indith, how are you managing with being pg amongst all of these night-time shenanigans! DS2 is still in a pullup and is staying that way even though he sneaks pants on occasionally. Has never soaked the bed quite as badly as your ds though, OMG! Don't know how you don't lose your rag after a night like that. I'm sure dc3 will be a chilled out, sleep through at 10 weeks little bean Grin
jabber, v.interesting about dh yet he doesn't realise as you do about ds1? It does take such a long time to sort out all the appts doesn't it? If the latest round of meetings and assessments of ds1 don't pan out, we're going to have to go with private psychologist. But on plus side he has been clean a lot of the time since school finished, best record in more than a year!
ev, ouch! Is it better now?
we are off to scotland friday & friends staying a while shortly afterwards so might not be back for a few weeks. Have a good summer!

jabberwocky · 07/08/2011 14:05

AQ, have a lovely vacation and hurray! for your ds1. I know what a huge accomplishment that is for him.
Ds1 gets his occupational therapy assessment on Tuesday. I am really looking forward to getting him back into that. Still no word on the ASD workup.

EustaciaVye · 07/08/2011 21:51

AQ - have a lovely holiday.

Bee sting much better now. However, I have mislaid my coil Hmm No idea if it has gone up our out so being referred for a scan. Sigh. Have back pain and feel quite emotional...

Jabber - latest on DDs eyes - "she has hypermetropia with an alternationg but mainly left esotropia. Her visions are 6/7.5 (R) and 6/9.5 (L), Fundoscopy normal." She has been given new glasses to reflect the prescription - they have stopped patching as the 'good' eye has started squinting a bit and they are seeing us again at the end of the month.

jabberwocky · 15/08/2011 13:37

Any news on the coil, EV? Hope it's gone out rather than up.

Shall I send you some exercises for dd's eye? I've found that in a lot of cases once we get body awareness of laterality more firmly established the patient starts to stay much straighter.

Had my great-niece over Saturday night then ds1's birthday yesterday. it was an exhausting weekend!!!

Indith · 15/08/2011 20:09

Had my dating scan on Friday :) Ds was so excited to see the baby on the screen. It was very wriggly, dh has decided it must be a boy Grin. We currently read "there's a house inside my mummy" pretty mcuh daily and he talks non stop about it. I'm also having to explain that while yes, one day he will be a daddy and Daisy will grow a baby in her tummy it will not be him who impregnates his sister Grin.

How is everyone? Jabber I hope it was a good weekend as well as an exhausting one!

accessorizequeen · 16/08/2011 20:40

hello all.
Does ds want another brother, Indith or is it that wriggly babies must be boys? I still don't know which twin was which in my scans (of which there were many!) so can't say one way or another! She's wriggly now, anyway. Is dd giving you any more sleep, countdown has started!
Holiday in Scotland was pretty good, rained a lot but no surprise there. Trip there and back (it's 7+ hours) was actually fine and dcs behaved themselves pretty well bribed with sweets etc...We have visitors arriving tomorrow to bring house total to 10 eeek. Carpet went down in spare room this morning but now room has no door, hadn't thought of that but trusty dp will save the day! We are trying very hard to get used to our new house but after all the financial palaver still don't feel at home. Does it normally take longer, I forget about the last 2 places. It's been 3 months and I feel as though I'm squatting. Still, lovely house, loads of room, kids all happy now their rooms are done. Jabber, you'll be amused to hear that dp has gone mad for anything 'Arts & Crafts' with a study full of furniture from that era (previously an Ikea man, so I find it amusing anyway). I'm sure/hope we'll get there as don't think we can afford to move for several years!
Summer holidays aren't too bed, I figure we're in week 4 and I haven't had a breakdown yet so that's ok. The thought of all those clothes to label piled in my wardrobe makes me feel a bit faint though (and I haven't found any labels yet!)...
I suppose I ought to go and clean/tidy something but I want to watch 'The Hour' with glass of Wine instead Grin

jabberwocky · 20/08/2011 16:30

I wrote a long post last night and it has apparently disappeared into the ether of Mumsnet backup.
Did have to lol at your dp, AQ. Be careful, it's a slippery slope!!
Finally managed to take a tiny bit out of the business last week, then bam! Dog had to go to the vet and the boys came down with strep - so, all gone and thank goodness for credit cards and emergency savings to pay bills with...Anyway, fingers crossed that this is a regular thing. If I can just sell our extra car we should be getting back on track :)
Indith, hope things are going OK with everyone, both born and still cooking!!

Indith · 23/08/2011 14:07

Fingers corssed for you Jabber!

AQ how was the house of guests? Hope you all had fun.

Ds is complaining because when he talks to the baby he can't hear it talking back.

I just want sleep! and for ds and dd to stop fighting but I'm guessing that will never happen. At least in 18 years or so and they've all moved out they can conduct their fighting away from me Grin.

Lenni · 23/08/2011 22:16

Lovely to have so much to catch up on. Congratulations Indith... I think (hope) I have said that on facebook at some point ahead of now. You all sound so chilled about the summer, it's been a little bit manic here, but fun. Sorry for not keeping up with the thread so well since I went back to work, I do check in every so often. I always read everything and then retain so little I don't know what to write Blush but do think of you all often.

jabberwocky · 25/08/2011 01:40

Lenni, it's lovely to have you back for a bit at least.

AQ, do let us know how things went with the houseful.

Indith, dcs getting along atm for the first time in weeks. How do they know when they have pushed one to the absolute limit?

Dh apparently thinks it is only due to a needed adjustment in my meds Hmm

Indith · 25/08/2011 13:01

Hi Lenni :)

Jabber your dh might not be all that wrong, I know my behaviour certainly affects the dcs.

I just bought a slow cooker! I came up to look for recipes but I have to scarper, the lovely tones of a screaming dd beckon.

jabberwocky · 27/08/2011 01:41

lol, Indith, if my meds could put up the laundry and get the dinner on for the dcs I would take anything. Fortunately, dh has taken me seriously for once and today things are definitely looking up. He had a plan for dinner and had acutally found the linens that matched the boys' beds (long story...)

Indith · 28/08/2011 10:27

:) Jabber

I have a theory about ds at teh moment. Taking him to GP again on Tuesday and hope they agree with me! He still doesn't get the wee signals. The fibrogel means he poos and he poos easily, no discomfort, not hard. Fine BUT he still only poos every 3 days and because it is fibrogel and designed to bulk them up they are massive. We only have him on half the prescribed does because full does means he still poos every 3 days but they are bigger. My theory is that his bowls just have not been able to return to normal size because of these massive poos (and I mean frequently have to be broken up to be able to get them down the loo without blocking it) and that means that as it builds up he still has lots of pressure on his bladder and so still has lots of wetting accidents. Currently he poos, frequently then soils soon after (I suppose everything really stretched) then next day is fine an dso long as we sned him ot the loo frequently he has a day without accidents. Day 2 is mostly good, he is a little more resistant to going to the loo and may have an accident or 2. Next day he wets himself about 4 or 5 times at least, refuses point blank to go to the loo when asked, I end up leaving him naked at home to avoid more laundry but he will still be found with wee dribbling down his leg and no idea he is doing it. Finally that evening he poos and we start all over again. We are still off dairy but tbh I'm not so sure that is doing anything, on occasion a friend has invited us for lunch and forgotten or I've run out of goat milk or cheese and he has had cow and I've not noticed any difference.

Any input form Jabber or AQ before Tuesday would be great! I'm going to ask that we try Movicol to try to keep the bowls moving without bulking up. I am dreading the start of school at the moment.

Wedding today. Today is day 3 in our wee/poo cycle nad attempts to get him to do a wee so far this morning have resulted in a tantrum. Wish me luck!

castlesintheair · 28/08/2011 11:00

Hello everyone. Sorry for absence. Life has been "interesting" for want of another word.

Congratulations Indith on No 3 Smile

Will try and catch up and stay put ...

EV, I've fb'd you.

jabberwocky · 29/08/2011 03:54

Indith, I think you are absolutely on the right track. Ds1 initially only had problems with poos but then started with wees as well and the pediatrician said exactly the same thing, that it was the pressure on his bladder causing the wee accidents. Stick to your guns and mention the phrase "colon rehabilitation". That should get them thinking!

EustaciaVye · 30/08/2011 07:14

Hi everyone - just back from hols. Kids jetlagged and up since 4.30 eek!

Castles - have seen your FB. will reply soon.

Jabber - I have a scan on 12th to try and find missing IUD - a whole month later!!! And yes, please send some exercises.

Lenni - helloooooo.

Good news on happy scans, and not so good with urinary accidents.....it's all non-stop isnt it!

accessorizequeen · 01/09/2011 21:37

Hello all, you keep disappearing from my list.
Shall have to catch up more on the weekend as I'm back to work tomorrow after a month off.
Castles, Lenni tis v v lovely to see you back.
Have any of our dec 06 babies started school yet, would be good to swap some experiences. Ds2 starts tues.
Indith, sorry wasn't around to answer but agree with yours and jabbers take on it. V similar to experiences with ds1 re: wee & pressure on bladder. Having lots of success over summer with sitting more often and longer, very little soiling. Does ds sit for a period 2-3 times a day after meals? I felt exactly same way when he was about to start school and I was pg too, it was so worrying. Text or FB me if you need some support.

jabberwocky · 02/09/2011 01:15

Ds2 has, in a way, been going to school since he was 18 months old when he did Mother's Day Out 4 days a week. He has since progressed to pre-K 4 this year and doing well. He has not been as precocious as ds1 as to learning to read but I am doing better than I would have anticipated at not creating a mental competition between the two of them!
Both boys are taking longer than I anticipated bonding with the puppy. They both still like the idea of a pet more than the reality. Ds1 is starting to come around a little.

EustaciaVye · 05/09/2011 13:44

DD2 started school this morning. Pic on fb.

jabberwocky · 05/09/2011 16:24

SO cute!

accessorizequeen · 05/09/2011 20:57

keep forgetting it's so different in the states, jabber. Kind of like France where they start them in school at 3!
Must have a look at the pic EV, I'm spending no time on FB these days, trying to limit my time so I can get some sleep & do the important things like watch Miranda Grin Ds2 much more amenable to talking about school and consented to do the workbook so I am hopeful of tomorrow which I had been dreading.
Must go label something, I lost my labels in the move and have one laundry pen only...

jabberwocky · 06/09/2011 13:22

Yes, we are moving in that direction, it seems. Pre-K 3 is still a private school kind of thing. Ds1 didn't do it (neither he nor we were ready!) but with ds2 it seemed like a good idea.
Some of the public (state) schools are starting to add a pre-K 4 class but it varies a lot from school system to school system.
I'm not on FB much lately either. Survival has taken top priority :)
