Happy birthday little sprout! Did he have a nice day in the snow?
Indith, hope your day got better and weather improves so you can get out. Um, Biscuit 6.5! DS2 is a 10 yikes.

Indith · 01/12/2010 19:36

Not better at all. I am sulking. Unless it improves a LOT in the next 24 hours or so we are going ot have to cancel our MN night out. MN nights out are the only evening social life I have, they happen once every 3/4 months and I have been looking forward to it a stupid amount since we booked it. Unfortunately even those of us parked on main roads are having trouble getting cars out and even if we get there then by 10/11pm when driving home the roads will be covered in an extra layer of ice and I don't think it is worth the risk.

Toddlers tomorrow but nobody came last week when we only had a couple of inches. Think I will nip over to the hall in the morning and put a note in the door to tell anyone who might battle through to just ocme round ot my house, it is only a few metres for the hall so they won't mind that will they?

accessorizequeen · 01/12/2010 20:17

Oh no, hopefully things will improve but it doesn't look that hopeful does it? Blinking weather.

castlesintheair · 01/12/2010 20:26

Oh that's a shame Indith, hope you make it to your night out!

Can you blow some of it down here please as we really could do with a day or two at home. We are all full of colds, over-stretched and generally a bit run down.

accessorizequeen · 01/12/2010 20:31

Blowing, blowing...Do you ever get that much snow in London, castles? I've never seen this much snow oop north since I moved here nearly 20 years ago. Can you plan a relaxing weekend or are there lots of things on?

castlesintheair · 01/12/2010 20:40

Thanks AQ Grin We had lots of snow last year and the one before, just none so far! We've got a really busy weekend coming up, again, as is just about every day until end of term now. Just wish I could shake of this lurgy DD2 and I have had since half-term. Sigh.

ilovesprouts · 01/12/2010 21:10

well he should of gone to his sn school today but no transport due to this snow etc ,mummys been mean as hes not been in the snow today maybe thurs ,as coming down with a cold etc !!

jabberwocky · 02/12/2010 03:08

Happy Birthday to little sprout!

Indith, I think a note on the door is perfectly fine. It will keep you from having to wait and wonder if anyone is coming.

Oh, and my ring didn't make it to reserve price on ebay :( Have taken it to an antique jewelery store today. They are taking it on consignment through the holidays. More crossing of fingers...

SatinShoes · 02/12/2010 08:14

Happy Birthday Little Sprout.

Poor Indith :( Looks like we will miss our works xmas party, and we have pad the hotel for it already so not sure if we'll lose all the money (our company) :(

SatinShoes · 03/12/2010 10:16

I got to go to the party :)

DDs scool is open today but our road is so icy I havent ventured out. Feel a bit bad for keeping her off although she is currently streaming green snot so a duvet day will probably be the best thing for her.

castlesintheair · 03/12/2010 15:32

All our roads and pavements are black ice (you would not believe the amount of council tax we pay) but everything is open and I have been in and out all day. It is effing treacherous. DD2 can't stand up!! Got to do the dance pick up at 4:30 - somehow manage to squeeze 5 kids into my car and try not to kill us all on the way home!

Indith · 03/12/2010 15:56

Glad you got the the party satin!

Still terrible here, I've cancelled the booking for tomorrow night :( I did go into town today though, really nice ot get out! When dh went to work yesterday someone nicked the spot on the main road he had dug out Angry and there isn't really anywhere else to park that doesn't block something so there is frantic shovelling going on today to clear the back road and our hard standing (it leads to the back of our house and comes off the back road) so we can try to put the car back in its rightful place.

Managed to get ds some new wellies though :) Always good to walk into a shop and find that one of their last pairs of wellies is the right size! Less good was that they both had their feet measured and both needed new shoes so I am feeling very broke!

Indith · 06/12/2010 13:43

Well, no fresh snow all weekend so the trails are finally compact enough for us to get out and the roads are clear (ish). Dragged dcs on sledge to the next village for toddlers, was supposed to be the last one before christmas so a bit of a party. All locked up Hmm no idea why it is closed really and no ocntact at all even though they have phone numbers. Bit pissed off as then had meltdowns from both of them, ds complaining he was cold etc. Solved meltdowns with gingerbread men and dragged them home again.

jabberwocky · 06/12/2010 13:55

Glad you got to go to the party satin!

I hope the temp goes up for you soon, Indith.

Bowling party was a huge success and really quite easy compared to some we've done before.

I got ds1 a kindle for Christmas and have now discovered that I have forgotten the password to our wireless network and it is typed incorrectly in the file I made Blush Have to go through all kinds of hurdles to get this fixed now as the original computer set-up for router was done on the machine I took to the office! Feeling Confused...

accessorizequeen · 07/12/2010 14:11

hope you get the IT sorted out, jabber. I hate tedious little problems that take an age to fix.
Snow on the way again here I think, have ventured out in it with car eek to take dts to nursery for my afternoon off (trying to resist cleaning house which sorely needs it). I am thoroughly fed up with it. Wish it were summer/wish I lived in Oz still! Glad you can get out now Indith, but grrr about toddlers! People should stay in contact.
DS2 had bday yesterday, delighted with his build-a-bear monkey. Been struggling with guilt about lack of friends/playdates for him (i.e. not a one!) but he's such a happy boy and loves his brothers and sister. He's still quite a way behind for his age in many ways (speech, co-ordination) but I really must stop worrying and just enjoy next 9 months until he's off to school.

Indith · 07/12/2010 14:28

Ooops Jabber. We have our password written on the back of the router, I'd never emember where it was otherwise. I actually need ot download open office as when I reformatted my computer a few months ago I didn't realise until too late that I have no idea where my product key for my copy of Office is Blush

AQ hope you are ok in the snow, I hear form the parents that Hull has had rather a lot of snow now, I think you have a severe weather warning for today too. Build a Bear Monkey sounds lovely :) Plenty of time for friends when they get to school (I hope! similar guilt on the friend front!)

accessorizequeen · 07/12/2010 14:58

Eek, severe weather warning missed that. Have to pick up dts at 5ish (must get off MN and do some chores!). It has been dreadful, I've never seen so much snow here for so long. Sledges have had v.good use, I took one for my shopping on sat morning and was stared at enviously by everyone [shmm] Bit of a struggle to keep everyone warm in this weather, have just ordered fleece welly liners for the kids as can't afford/justify/find snow boots for all 4!
DS2 and ds got on pretty well when they saw each other didn't they? I think having more babies when they weren't even 2 interrupted things. I can't believe the change in ds from 21 months when dts born to yesterday.
Build a bear is marketing monstrosity, dp still going on about it but the boy will love BoBo (the monkey) for ever...

Indith · 07/12/2010 15:35

Ooooh fleece wellie liners We've been doing alright keeping warm actually. Wellies that don't leak (my goodness it has been so much better since Friday when I managed to get ds some new ones), socks, pair of my socks over the top, trousers tucked into wellies, waterproof trousers over the top of the wellies ot ensure no snow gets down there.

The boys did get on well didn't they. I remember you were concerned about E being understood but they chattered away no problem. Thing is here pretty much all of them go 5 mornings or afternoons at nursery once they hit 3 so there is noone around his age at groups and dh does his nurery drop off so I don't know anyone. I'm going to try to invite the children he talks about for his birthday, worst they can say is "no you freak I've never met you". He has a good friend who lives in the village but his mum works so don't always see each other much. Ah well, school soon really! And dd won't end up with same problem as she will do 5 mornings since I'll be taking ds anyway.

SatinShoes · 07/12/2010 16:01

All kids love buildabear :)

DD2 now referred to paediatrician for her wee problems is it is ongoing and GP is at a loss. Appt not until January though :( Ironically we go to the same place next week for allergy testing ref her headaches but it is a different dept so I cant swap. Just hoping they dont think I've got munchausens by proxy as I seem to take her so often...

DD1 just had school xmas party so they are both in a heap on the sofa watching Homa Alone.

Indith · 07/12/2010 19:41

Satin :( the poor girl. Roll on January.

Ds has chicken pox. At least I'm going with chicken pox since they are nice little blistery spots caught al ittle over a week after playing with a friend who had chicken pox! Leaving the house is overrated right?

SatinShoes · 07/12/2010 19:54

aw, Indith. Lousy timing for you.

accessorizequeen · 07/12/2010 20:34

Oh no, Indith! Hopefully won't be too bad as he's a young un. You could leave the house, but just wander about in the snow...I went to a garden centre with ds1 when he had it (at 18 months I think). Do you have choc supplies, that's the important thing (obviously for you, not for ds)?

Satin, hope you get an appt quickly and it's sorted out. Been going on an age, hasn't it? Hug..

Indith · 07/12/2010 21:13

I expect we will go for snowy walks although dd thinks the track is too slippy and shuffles along for about 2 metres before saying she wants to go home.

Have some chocolate, not nearly enough!

jabberwocky · 08/12/2010 02:02

I can't believe all the snow you guys are having!!

Sorry for the chicken pox, Indith. It is always so strange hearing all of you talk about it as no one gets it here anymore. I was originally going to try to let the dcs catch it for natural immunity but then decided on the jab as they might be adults by the time they were around anyone with it Confused

satin, I'm really glad you have a referral, just too bad it's not sooner.

The kindle worked on my office wireless so once I figure out how to convince it to turn on the magical "whispernet" feature I may actually get ds1's books downloaded Hmm

Still haven't done much shopping. I have really got to get to it.

I'm currently proofreading dh's book. It's quite a good story but the man is severely dyslexic so the typos that weren't picked up by spellcheck are still quite numerous.

Indith · 08/12/2010 12:47

Childhood illnesses are funny things aren't they Jabber. Amazing how vaccination works really I think. When I was little we were all vaccinated against mumps etc (the MMR came in just a couple of years after my jabs I think) yet they were still considered perfectly normal childhood illnesses that pretty much everyone would get at some point. Now there is mass panic when there is a measles outbreak and I can't remember the last time I heard of someone with mumps.
